Dulla-Lette (weird stuff!)
Added 2019-10-28 10:01:00 +0000 UTCKinda talked about what kinds of costume shenanigans Colette could get up to this year, and the idea of going as a Dullahan came up a lot. Famously they're headless horsemen or other headless fae characters. There was a really cool one in an anime called Durarara. Anyway, here's a finished version and an alternate of that sketch I drew earlier.
Aaaand a silly basketball one with more cyborg shenanigans for good measure.
There's still a couple more days till Halloween. Why don't you guys give me some suggestions for the different characters I draw? It might be fun. I can't get to them all but I should try to involve you guys more in art.

2019-10-28 12:10:31 +0000 UTCI'm rusty on my mythical creatures, but IIRC the Dullahan was one of those things where if you saw it, it was an omen of your own impending death. I think they were often portrayed as driving the carriage at the front of The Procession of the Damned, another thing that doesn't actually do anything directly to you, but that seeing it means you're fucked. Banshees, Lyches, medieval Europe had a lot of stuff like that where seeing it meant you were fated to die, and it's kind of ambiguous as to whether that always meant you were going to die because fate is a bitch like that, or if their presence somehow altered your fate to screw you over. Who really knows, but I guess the most obvious explanation is that peasants noticed that people talked about seeing weird shit shortly before they died in weird ways, not realizing that they were probably delirious/tripping out from some kind of disease or weird food poisoning. Anyway, like most things we can blame anime for making it sexy. Or thank anime depending on your viewpoint.
