Shiva's Show
Added 2019-09-09 10:00:02 +0000 UTCI did this for my friend, Judge Anon's birthday. He's probably THE biggest fan of the DC character Lady Shiva on the internet right now. And I sorta think it's fun that he's this big Shiva fan and I'm this big Cassandra Cain fan and we both sorta got this new appreciation of each others characters partially by just being friends.
I think, I'm not sure if I want to spend my time this morning going into a long discussion about the storied history of Cass Cain and Lady Shiva. Much less do I want to get into the conversations about their use in current DC comics. And I DEFINITELY don't wanna talk about the complexities of racial tropes when it comes to Asian martial arts masters in comic books. I think for the moment, I'll stick with the staging here.
I like the simplicity of this image and just trying to get across a vaguely threatening appearance. I also wanted her to look appealing and powerful, so a composition where she's practically the only thing that matters worked out well. I might have gone a bit overboard on the blood seeping out from behind the curtain but I just wanted to make sure that people saw it. In the future, if I did something like this again, I'd go with less.

Very nice. Love the sense of danger. I'm a fan of Shiva, primarily for her original interactions with Cassandra and her use in Birds of Prey with Black Canary. Though not a fan of her as Cassandra's mother, personally. Much prefer the older stuff between Shiva and Cassandra
