Just another quick post before I get some sleep. Obviously this drawing is exaggerated in a number of ways but I think it comes together fairly nicely.
I don't really use screen tones all that often. While they'll work amazingly in print, it can be hard to predict how they're reproduced on screens. Screen tones are a technique, used often in manga, to replicate grey on paper using only dots of black ink.
But when you have that same image, put on screen, and resized due to any number of compression techniques, the result can be different than you expect creating instances of moire or noise. I bet if you look at the "grey" on colette here, you can see little grid patterns thanks to how your screen is viewing the image.
