Tough Girl (unfinished sketch)
Added 2019-04-17 10:00:01 +0000 UTCI don't think I'm going to finish this one really. The anatomy is all off in a bunch of places. And except for her face, I'm not that interested in what it would look like completed. Her expression is great, and I like how her arms look. But overall it's not quite working for me. And I ended up spending a LOT of time on those legs and they still look really awkward.
I think somehow, I didn't really have a lot of confidence in drawing them so the lines aren't smooth. And the camera being pulled back this far, loses a sense of intimacy or intensity. Anyway, it was a lot of work to get only a so-so result.

One of my first martial arts instructors actually used to sit like that in the ring to observe. Other than the hair, it is a very similar pose and look.

2019-04-18 11:00:20 +0000 UTCI don’t agree with “so-so,” I see a problem with her thighs being a bit thick. But they could be real. Self-criticism is a key to improving. Just don’t take it to depression. Depression is a trap. Your art is outstanding. You may strive to get better. But give yourself credit. You are already excellent.
