I'm getting a little bit better at anatomy but I decidedly draw an exaggerated anatomy. With "Gunmetal Colette" I tend to push it even further. I draw a lot of "lithe" girls already but this particular version of Colette tends towards more obvious style choices. The thing with working towards a realistic drawing, and being only slightly cartoonish is that people can mistake deliberate decisions for mistakes. When it's clearly a cartoonish figure, people readily accept the image better. Basically the uncanny valley applies to illustrations just as well as computer graphics.
