Bloodborne Again

Whew, it's been a bit of a tiring holiday. I admit, a LOT of that was my fault cause I get into this mode where I like shopping for deals. And NEVER actually buying anything. It happened a good amount this weekend, I like imagining what I can do with this or that device. And rarely do I end up picking it up. It's one of the issues with being a tech geek. You look at reviews and study a lot of things. And it's a lot of time spent looking up things you're not going to buy. And deals weeks are particularly dangerous times. Still, it's very much a first world kind of problem.

The ps4 game Bloodborne got onto my attention again because I was watching some old Game Grumps videos. I just remembered how cool that game was. And it's great how it went from gothic horror to full on Lovecraft madness, gradually throughout the arc of the game. There's a way the game will introduce to you a new section that completely surprises you and upends the entire style of the experience and you think "Oh I must be near the finale, this is getting completely bonkers." But nope, you're just a boss battle away from experiencing yet another completely insane location.

It's an action game, first and foremost. And it's a very good one. But how it handles the environments and the challenge elements, make it one of the most well realized Lovecraft games released in recent memory.
