slightly NSFW April sketch!

Okay, so I've been on a bit of an April O'neil sketch thing recently. And probably like many kids of my age, 80's April getting into goofy sticky situations was something we remembered very fondly. What I kinda liked about her character was that she was usually getting herself in trouble because she was doing something brave and even a little foolhardy to get at important news worthy stuff! These days you see the average reporter just reading twitter from their desk, and that's not nearly as fun as investigating in a yellow jumpsuit cause anything else would be too expensive to get dirty.

Anyway, current cartoon april o'neil gets all kinds of ninja training and that's great! But maybe much more peril prone 80's april could've used more extensive training. At the very least teach her some escape artist tricks.

I think I mention it somewhere in the book that I liken her adventures to being maybe a little less "mary sue James Bond" if you'll allow me the term. It's useful here because for the most party, April is portrayed as a bit bumbling and trouble prone. Whereas James Bond is clearly talented but just as trouble prone. Bond is usually ending up in terrible jams, and sometimes needs to be rescued by other people. This often includes crazy perilous death traps too. But the charm of those stories is still the danger and the intrigue, if you could translate that to something lighter and more fun with April as a kind of protagonist, I think it would be fun to watch. Just have to make the right balance of bumbling and brave.

" This! Definetely this. And it wasn't just a little. Sometimes it was something really really foolhardy

Wonderverse

'80s peril prone April thankfully didn't have much to worry about, given that most of the villains were about as sharp as a bowling ball.
