DOTM: Chapter 521/522

Chapter 521: Anti-gravity Technology

Although Ethan looked down on the engineers' bagel-shaped spaceship, his dislike was only for its appearance. He was still very interested in the technology it contained.

After silently watching Weyland rush forward in excitement to negotiate with the engineer, only to be swatted to death, and then seeing the robot David casually dismantled, Ethan lost interest in watching.

The scientists finally realized something. The alien they called the Engineers, their so-called creators, did not value humans at all. Ethan could not understand why they ever thought otherwise.

The security consultants acting as combat personnel raised their weapons and attacked the engineer. Even Elizabeth, a woman, understood in this moment that there was no possibility of peaceful coexistence with this alien.

When the security personnel next to her opened fire, she no longer said foolish things like, "This is just a scientific expedition, we don't need security consultants." She even felt fortunate that she had not said, "Don't bring weapons," before they set off.

Unfortunately, the weapons carried on the Prometheus were not very powerful. The bullets could not even pierce the engineer's protective suit, let alone cause real damage.

So, although the gunfire was constant, it was accompanied by human screams.

But the engineer's performance also ended here. Apart from the initial casualties when the scientists were close to him and the conflict broke out suddenly, once everyone scattered, the engineer could no longer cause rapid losses.

Most importantly, this alien, lacking any judgment, charged straight toward Ethan.

"Show's over."

Under everyone's terrified gaze, Ethan stood still, calmly watching the tall alien rush at him with a fierce expression.

Just when everyone thought Ethan was certainly dead, the security consultant whom Elizabeth thoroughly disliked simply raised his hand slightly. A brilliant light erupted from Ethan's palm, and then the engineer, who had already raised his fist to strike, was blasted backward.

Magic Impact. A very basic attack spell that simply releases magic to "push" the target away.

The power of this spell increases as the mage's strength and control grow.

When Ethan used it with his current ability, the feeling was like being hit head-on by a large truck traveling over a hundred kilometers per hour.

This was just him casting casually. If he had used a serious attack spell, he could easily crush this alien to a pulp.

The scene happened so quickly that when the engineer was thrown back, slammed into the distant wall, and fell to the ground unable to move, no one had time to react.

Even as Ethan slowly walked forward and looked down at the alien lying motionless, they still did not understand what had just happened.

They could only be sure of one thing. Their crisis was over?

"What just happened?"

Fifield had been standing not far from Ethan. Despite his fierce face, he was actually very insecure.

Ever since arriving here, he had felt uneasy and wished he could immediately return to the Prometheus and never come back down. The longer he stayed in this eerie cave, the less safe he felt. That was why he had been hovering around Ethan, feeling relatively safer near him.

From the fact that Ethan had stopped people from foolishly taking off their helmets, this security consultant seemed far more reliable than the others. At least Ethan knew what absolutely should not be done in such a strange place.

So when the alien charged at them, Fifield, standing slightly behind Ethan, felt like it was targeting him. In that instant, he thought he was dead. With his small physique, even a graze from that tall alien would likely be fatal.

But just as he was despairing, something magical happened. Ethan simply raised his hand, and the powerful alien was blasted away.

"Was that some kind of new weapon?"

No one saw clearly what had happened, including those on the Prometheus who were watching through the monitors.

Captain Janek had the same question as Fifield. He turned to ask Meredith, but she was not there.

Looking around, he saw only his two deputies and the Asian woman named Ada.

"What kind of weapon was that?"

"That wasn't a weapon."

Ada had one hand on her hip while her other hand operated the console.

Having the title of security consultant had one advantage. She could openly use the Prometheus's computers and search for whatever she wanted.

"Not a weapon?"

Janek wanted to know more, but he felt that these mysterious security consultants would not answer honestly, so he just kept watching the monitors, trying to judge for himself.

Ada looked up briefly and did not care when Janek stopped asking.

Actually, if he had continued, she would have been happy to tell him. She was not sure if he would believe her, but it did not matter. She enjoyed watching people's strange expressions when they learned the truth. It never got boring, no matter how many times she saw it.

As Janek stared at the screens in shock and the scientists cautiously gathered around, Ethan stood over the engineer, thinking about what to do with him.

Kill him outright? That felt like a waste. Looking at the frightened scientists, Ethan realized this alien might be a useful bargaining chip.

He had also been worried about how to deal with the survivors if he wanted to take the Prometheus. Now, the ship beneath his feet solved that problem perfectly.

He believed these scientists would be eager to bring back an alien spacecraft, something that would directly change their status on Earth.

But before that, he had to deal with the dangerous items inside this ship. Otherwise, they would be bringing back destruction, not hope.

"Sleep."

With that thought, Ethan stopped worrying about how to handle the engineer. He glanced at the weakened alien and cast a sleep spell, putting him into a deep slumber. The effect of this spell depended on the target's condition and mental strength.

For an alien like this, if he were healthy and alert, the spell would have little effect. At most, he would feel sudden drowsiness, immediately notice something was wrong, and shake it off.

Even if he did fall asleep, he would wake easily.

But since he was badly injured and had just woken from deep hibernation, his body was far from its best. Now, not only could he not resist the drowsiness, but he would also sleep deeply. Even if thrown onto a battlefield, he would not wake up.

"What did you do to him?"

This time, everyone was very close and saw Ethan's movements clearly. Ethan had only moved his finger slightly, then a string of glowing points drifted toward the alien's eyes. The alien immediately closed them and fell still.

If not for the faint signs of breathing, they might have thought he was dead.

"I just made him fall asleep."

"He fell asleep just like that? Were those lights some kind of powder?" Fifield glanced between Ethan and the alien. "You can hypnotize aliens?"

"Humans too. Want to try?"

"No, thank you!"

Fifield quickly stepped back. He did not want to fall asleep here, especially in such a terrifying place.

"I'll leave this guy to you. I'm going to check other areas."

There was not much left to see in the control room. Ethan wanted to find the power room and check if important components like the power unit and thrusters could be dismantled.

If they could, he would take a set back. If not, he would scan all the details and bring the data. After all, there was more than one bagel-shaped ship here, so dismantling one would not matter.

Since the ship was right here, it would be foolish not to take something.

Even though he disliked its appearance, he still valued the technology.

As long as the technology was mastered, the design could be changed however they wanted.

Most importantly, such a large "donut" could ascend so easily. Ethan was sure this ship had anti-gravity technology, which was critical for spacecraft, especially large ones.

As he expected, the ship indeed had anti-gravity technology. It allowed the massive craft to land on planets with ease and break free from gravity to rush into space.

Obtaining this technology would eliminate many restrictions on building large spacecraft. Even if they were built on Earth, they could still lift off smoothly into space.

Of course, even without this technology, Ethan could still "carry" them into space. But Tony would never agree to build something that humiliating.

(To be continued.)

Chapter 522: The Alien Universe is gone!

By the time Ethan had finished collecting everything he wanted, stuffing his space, which was already larger than a basketball court, full to the brim, and returned to the control room, he noticed a few people were missing.

"Where is Elizabeth?"

As expected, the woman who was asking for trouble was not here. Ethan was not surprised at all.

"She wanted to see what else was here."

"Janek, where are the others now?"

Everyone's location could be seen from the Prometheus, and they had released probes to map the area as soon as they entered.

Now, the Prometheus's holographic display showed a detailed map of the area, and combined with the positioning devices on everyone, it was easy to pinpoint each person's location.

"Elizabeth and the others are in the place you visited earlier."

The place they visited earlier? That would be the area with a large pile of canisters, also known as the arsenal.

If you had to name the most dangerous place on this planet, that spot would definitely rank first.

Due to the passage of time, some of the canisters storing the black liquid might have aged and could no longer seal their contents.

Furthermore, although this planet appeared desolate, life actually existed here, just some very small insects. But as long as there was life, combined with this black liquid, it could turn into terrifying biological weapons.

So, when Ethan found Elizabeth and the others, the scene before him was not surprising at all.

The biologist among the scientists had died a terrible death.

And Charlie, while protecting Elizabeth, was also severely injured.

That was not the most important thing. The important thing was that he was infected.

Ethan did not bother with that guy, but instead turned his head and saw David lying on the ground.

Earlier, when the Engineer slapped Weyland to death, David had also been decapitated just like in the original plot, but losing his head did not stop him from causing trouble.

He had originally thought David might not act like he did in the original plot, but now it seemed this guy had awakened self-awareness and was firmly developing in the direction Ethan least wanted.

"You instigated them to come here, didn't you!"

It was a statement, not a question.

David opened his mouth as if to say something, but before he could speak, his vision was engulfed by a shadow, and then he knew nothing more.

Even a robot will die if its core is stomped into pieces.

Moreover, Ethan did not just stomp David's head to a pulp. He also followed up with a fireball, completely burning the damaged parts to ensure that guy would absolutely not revive.

Ethan had not killed him before because he had not done anything bad, but now that he had done something he should not have, Ethan naturally had to get rid of him.

Without David, the researcher, this world should not develop into the Alien universe.

Turning back to look at Elizabeth and Charlie, Charlie's condition did not look good. His face was bruised and dark, and his pupils were filled with blood.

From the original plot, it was known that although this parasite was not as terrifying and powerful as future mature Xenomorphs, its parasitic ability was even more threatening than the Xenomorphs'.

It could parasitize both living and dead organisms, turning the host into a ferocious monster.

Fifield's corpse was parasitized in the original plot, becoming exceptionally fierce and powerful, with full killing potential.

Now, Fifield was honestly staying in the control room and not running around, so the unlucky one became Charlie. He was originally infected but had not mutated yet, and he voluntarily chose to be burned to death by Meredith with a flamethrower.

From this, it could also be seen that Charlie was very clear-headed at critical moments.

Just like now...

"Don't mind me, leave here immediately, seal the door, and don't come near again."

"No, I won't abandon you."

Elizabeth hugged her husband. She deeply regretted her previous actions now. If she had just stayed obediently in the control room, these tragic events would not have happened.

"Seeing as you are acting so manly, I have decided to save you this once."

Ethan had originally come with the intention of watching these guys creatively tempt fate, but he found that although Charlie was foolish at first, he was barely the type who could still be salvaged.

Furthermore, he had already planned to exchange the Prometheus for the donut ship, so there was no need for all these guys to die. Saving one was saving, preserving a group was also saving, there was no difference.

Since he was in a good mood, he might as well save him.

"What are you going to do?"

Elizabeth held her husband, watching Ethan warily.

Ethan thought carefully about what method he should use to save this guy.

The more troublesome part was that this parasite was completely different from the later Xenomorph juveniles. After a Xenomorph juvenile parasitized and began to develop, it would form a distinct individual, and as long as the juvenile was removed in time, the problem would not be big.

This black liquid now was more like a virus, and the situation after parasitism was completely different. And Charlie's situation was slightly different. He was attacked by a mutated insect infected with this black liquid. Therefore, Ethan could not determine whether this virus would directly alter Charlie's own genes, turning him into a monster, or whether it would form a new individual inside him.

"Perhaps the former."

Recalling the details of the original film, the greatest possibility was still that he would become a powerful, exceptionally resilient, and insane monster, like Fifield in the plot.

If that were the case, what needed to be done was to suppress the mutation in Charlie's body and then remove the virus that had invaded him.

Theoretically, the antidote Ethan made could handle this problem. Even if a regular antidote was not enough, Ethan was not worried about failing to solve this trouble.

Because he was a mage skilled in potion making, and among the many unscientific potions, there was one called the Potion of Status Removal.

Unlike antidotes with specific targets, this potion was made for various strange, even hard-to-identify situations. Its basic effect was to clear all kinds of detrimental conditions from the body.

This potion was very troublesome to make and quite difficult.

Even the current Ethan had only made a few bottles to carry with him when he first started practicing.

As his strength grew, he thought he would rarely have a chance to test the actual effect of this item, but unexpectedly, he encountered such a situation this time.

Seeing that Charlie had lost consciousness, and in this state, oral administration was impossible, Ethan directly took out a syringe gun and loaded the potion.

Since Charlie had been attacked, his helmet was damaged, otherwise he would not have been infected, so there was no need to specifically remove equipment. Ethan reached in, lifted his head, and gave him a shot in the back of the neck.

Elizabeth initially watched Ethan warily. When she saw Ethan take out what seemed to be a vial of medicine and then a syringe gun, even though she did not know what the medicine was, she could tell Ethan wanted to save Charlie.

So she did not do anything foolish again. She even actively helped Ethan hold Charlie, making the injection easier.

Miraculously, after Ethan injected the vial of potion, Charlie's complexion immediately improved significantly.

The bruised, dark complexion faded, and after a brief moment of recovery, Charlie's breathing also became steady.

Seeing her husband's condition improve significantly, Elizabeth immediately expressed her gratitude to Ethan. After all, the other party had used such precious medicine to save her husband.

"Thank you, thank you very much."

Ethan nodded. He still did not have a good impression of Elizabeth, but she at least knew the difference between good and bad.

Reaching out to check Charlie's condition, Ethan released a wisp of magic that circulated through Charlie's body.

The magic, carrying a trace of Holy Light energy, also slightly repaired Charlie's body during this scan, which finally made Charlie's complexion stop darkening.

Apart from still being a bit pale, he looked no different from a normal person.

"What should we do next?"

"The storm is over, right?"

Although Ethan could not see the situation outside, the active lightning energy that had filled the entire area earlier was gradually no longer felt. It was clear that the silica storm carrying immense static electricity had dissipated.

"Yes, you can withdraw."

The Prometheus had been monitoring the situation here. Seeing that Charlie seemed to have escaped danger, although they did not know exactly what Ethan had done, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

This was a scientific expedition.

Everyone initially had this predetermined impression, and no one expected this mission to encounter so many messy accidents.

Especially the continuous casualties. The most troublesome was the sudden death of Peter Weyland.

Fortunately, all of this was finally coming to an end.

They had found the Engineer, found the alien spacecraft, and confirmed their previous various speculations. All they had to do next was safely return to Earth with the evidence.

"There should be a spare helmet on the vehicle. Who will go get one?"

Charlie's helmet was damaged, and he was just a normal person. Without helmet protection, he could not move around outside because the air on this planet contained too much carbon dioxide for humans.

However, this was not a problem for Ethan. He directly took off his own helmet and handed it to Elizabeth.

"What about you?"

"I have some things to do here. Also, after you go back this time, remember to ask Meredith to come over."

The plot had been thoroughly ruined by Ethan. David, who caused trouble, had been stomped to a pulp by him. The biggest threat was the surrounding canisters, and the Engineer who might pose a threat was still sleeping like a log, unlikely to wake up anytime soon.

By this point, he was no longer considering picking up leftovers. He was ready to directly make a deal with Meredith.
