I do think both Henry and William did backstab Edwin, BUT I ALSO think William heavily manipulated the whole situation as well
I do think he convinced Henry how basically bankrupting Edwin, and merging his company with theirs, would somehow overall benefit them. One aspect of William people seem to forget and SOTM brought back to the forefront, it’s the fact he’s a very smart businessman. I think early on William saw the weakness in Edwin, how starry eyed he was, how ambitious. Henry I think more so actually grew a genuine friendship with Edwin, Edwin giving him the nickname “Hen” and everything
I THINK once Edwin’s business started to fail, is when William convinced Henry that they needed Edwin’s assets. That they would be better suited, etc BUT I THINK this got pushed even more once Fiona passed away. Then William could pose it as a helpful gesture, Edwin is a grieving husband, if William and Henry run the company, they can take on the big decisions and Edwin can keep making his inventions. I think this would have smoothed over any doubts Henry could have gotten
I found it so interesting how specifically these two changed the designs after Fiona passed, or how in William’s emails to Edwin, he mentions he could still be “the head engineer” and they’d never take his house, etc etc. it’s clear to me, William was very smart, he knew exactly how to frame this plan to bankrupt Edwin Murray, as a positive for everyone involved. The tragedy that happened to Edwin was outside of any of this- but also made things easier to take over ultimately. This was a lot of fun to draw out, the drama between Fazbear entertainment and MCM is so interesting, and I think adds a lot, so I wanted to explore just a smidge of that. Anyway!! I hope you enjoy this comic!! 🩵💜
