BTC2: Chapter 57

-- CHAPTER 57: Present --

Comments

Deleting previous comment for ASL spoilers. A lot of BTC readers haven't read the OSL series.

In re-reading the "Ben Series" between BTC2 chapters I am reminded of two things - how well the BTC Series is written; and - the absolute selfishness and bastardry of the Ben Series characters. BTC is definitely redeeming in the fate of humankind. Ben Series not so - Adrienne blackmailing Ben for their initial hookup - Cassidy seducing Ben to take vengeance on Adrienne with no interest in resuming the relationship - Adrienne scoping out the next conquest as a way of breaking up with Ben - Dawn humiliating Ben by making him watch Ryan f her for the first time - Adrienne sending Paige in as a substitute on Valentine's Day (worst thing I have ever seen or read) - Adrienne's indifference to Ben whilst in a relationship with Ben - Dawn sleeping with others then running away whilst in relationship with Ben - Paige the fruit loop, aka Jar Jar Binks. Can someone re-write the series without Paige please aka Star Wars. - Adrienne betrayal and humiliation of Ben on NYE social media Etc The Ben Series is a struggle to reread. I also struggle with the characters. None I would like as friends. When I read and reread BTC, so far, I see shared adventures and all looking after each other.

Great chapter. Glad you getting family involved. Think Dr. K AND mother need to be more present for advise and other stuff like maybe a Sam internship with mother

Who the hell started chopping onions at the end of the story?

Thank you for another great addition to this tale. Remember, baby steps. Skylar may think she's acting like a hormonal young girl, but the foundation for a true loving relationship with Matt is definitely there. Matt may be playing safe Matty right now, but I think we can all agree that he would very much like to have Skylar as one of his girlfriends. Let's see how long taking it slow lasts. I really enjoyed Matt telling Mr. K how he viewed him as a father figure. Even though we know how distant Beverly is in the here and now, seeing a young Matt starving for his mother's love and attention was absolutely heartbreaking. I am with Matt on this one, he did enough reaching out to connect with his mother throughout his life, it's time she put in some effort. Despite past actions, I think Beverly is a great character (not necessarily a good person, but an interesting one) and I do hope that she and Matt reconcile somewhat so we can see more of her. Looking forward to connecting with the rest of the group again as well as the upcoming Mammoth Mountain trip with Skylar joining in. Are the ladies going to call an official meeting of the BTC to discuss Skylar's admission?

Another chapter that was greatly enjoyed. So many nuances. Maybe it's previous BDA stories, I kept on expecting something unexpected and not positive to happen after Skylar woke. Whew, another bullet dodged. The tale would be the lesser without Skylar. What is the story with the extremely disappointing actions of Matt's Dad. Even if he does not care for Beverly, Matt deserves better. Even if it is just $$$ and a card. As a "reverse Matty", my ex ran off with the kids with her business partner and has allowed little contact since that time, Matty's own Christmas Day contact with his Mother brought a few tears to my eyes. I hope something good happens. Loved the tenderness of the scenes of Mr K and Matty. A family is indeed who you make it. As a Dad cannot comprehend parents who do not step up for their kids. Emotional support is vastly underrated. Thank god for Mr K. Until Matt has emotional resolution with BOTH parents he will remain brittle and subject to a tidal wave of depression. PS the "not-togetherness" of the chapter reminds me of Adrienne Dennis and Matty in TSL
