I ave this knot in my gut that Sam is distancing herself from the BTC 2.0 on purpose.

2022-12-28 21:30:52 +0000 UTCHonestly, I'm not enjoying the direction of this series right now. Maybe I was a little spoiled by the fact that I read 1.0 from beginning to end, so I really didn't have to anticipate the next moves. But my problem is very simple... 1. I'm seeing far too little of my favorite (Sam), and what I do see I don't like where she's going (although based on the way 1.0 ended, was pretty predictable). The fact that Matt is still in love with her definitely colors his other relationships. He is "being taken care of" while the love of his love is pursuing her academic dream. And at this point, he insists that he will wait forever for her... but the strain is showing. 2. I'm seeing far too much of my least favorite (Belle) and pairing her with Lily isn't making me like her any more. 3. Naimh is... I dunno... flat maybe? She is my second favorite BTC girl, and with Sam disappearing into the academics, I expected to see more of her and her developing relationship with Matt... and I have. But I think she works best as a counter and a friendly rival to Sam. 4. Eva is... an enigma wrapped in a mystery. But at least I like her better than... 5. Lily... who does nothing for me. She is somewhat generic, bouncy, enthusiastic, Island girl. 6. There is no Zofi or Mari or Alice or Holly to add to the group dynamic. It's essentially just Naimh, Belle, and Lily.
