It's his ego and his cowardice. He has to feel like he is conforming to a moral standard in some fashion, and he refuses to back away from any of his idealized fantasies and he needs to feel like he's doing the "right" thing rather than just indulging himself, so he is obsessed with big gestures like this, and his elaborate "romantic" performances that are ostensibly about the woman(-en) in question, but are really just showing off and rationalizing that these things make him a good partner (These tendencies also explain his so-called "White Knight" impulse; if he can "save" girls from big short term problems, he can weigh that against his rather shoddy treatment of people in his life on a long-term, daily basis). Basically, he knows he's just using these women for his own gratification, but if he is married to one, and she gives his sexual indulgences her blessing, then he can feel completely justified, morally, and in the eyes of society, and shrug off all moral culpability. But his selfishness and ego mean he has to have the woman he sees as the best, that he can't just settle for an eight or nine who will still let him sleep with all the tens he wants.

2022-07-02 15:19:17 +0000 UTCIf -I- were writing this, it would be Adrienne as 'official' wife and Dawn as 'equal cowife'. Sasha and Summer would partner with their friends and lovers. My rationale for AD would be the doors her name opens for everyone, and that it helps her professionally- apart from their feelings for each other. I also think this gives Dawn a little room to grow and heal. It should be easy enough to come up with a sanitized cover story to keep the TMZ crowd happy but also have just a hint of tantalizing gossip to keep her brand trending.

2022-06-30 19:39:18 +0000 UTCAm over Dawn. She is a nutcase. Way to much drama and maintenance required. Summer is not an equal. So count them both out. Sasha doesn’t have the desire or ability to be anyone’s wife. Adrienne has learned from her mistakes. Perfectly positioned to be Ben’s wife. Unless there is someone new eg Ashlyn or rebooted eg Peyton , Adrienne is a certainty.
