Chapter 26 – New Training, Worldly Wanderings
The sun just barely peeked over the horizon when an alarm clock went off with its loud ringing.
“Mmn…” Roshi blinked as he woke up and sat up in the futon he was sleeping in. Turning off the alarm clock to prevent the noise from waking up the young woman sleeping upstairs in the only bedroom; he yawned widely and stretched his arms above his head before tossing the blanket back and standing up. “Four-thirty already, eh?” He changed out of his pajamas and into his orange and white martial arts top and his blue kung fu pants. After properly folding up the futon and putting it into the closet, Roshi got a refreshing drink of water, slipped on his sunglasses, and then grabbed his staff before heading out the front door. Taking in a breath of the fresh morning air and admiring the beginning sunrise, Roshi walked over to the Capsule House twenty meters away from Kame House and loudly knocked on the door. “Up and at ‘em! Time for training!”
Only a minute later, Kale, Caulifla, Goku, and Launch emerged from the Capsule House. While the three Saiyans were used to waking up at this time, Launch still wasn’t and she grumbled while rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Her tail swayed behind her in agitation as she looked at Roshi with a slight glare.
“Why four-thirty in the morning?” Launch questioned with a grumble of annoyance. She’d been comfortable in bed curled up with Goku, Caulifla, and Kale, damn it!
“You were the one that demanded to join in on the training last night, if you recall, Launch.” Roshi reminded the blonde young woman simply.
-Last Night-
Kame House was filled with celebration of the successful Dragon Ball hunt and the two Launch’s getting their wish. Food was disappearing almost as fast as it was being cooked and placed on the table as Blue Launch laughed brightly, her smile filling the air around her with warmth.
“It might get a little confusing calling you both Launch from now on, but I’m sure we’ll figure something out.” Caulifla mentioned after scarfing down a large bowl of rice and pork.
The two Launch sisters looked at each other before smiling at everyone.
“We’ve been talking about that through notes to each other when we switched.” Blue Launch said with a little giggle.
Blonde Launch nodded with a smirk. “Yeah, we both knew it was going to be a big change to be our own individual people. So, we came up with an idea.”
“What’s that?” Goku asked curiously as he stuffed a steamed bun into his mouth.
Blue Launch smiled as she placed another large platter of food—a rack of beef ribs—on the table. “You can all call me Lunch from now on.” She said with a bright smile. “It’s a nickname I got from the longest time that I didn’t sneeze before meeting you all.”
“Lunch, as a nickname?” Kale asked curious as to how the Blue Launch had gotten it.
“Yes,” Lunch nodded to Kale. “I became a cook for a cafeteria on the edge of East City about two years ago. The kids that ate there loved my lunches so much that they turned ‘Launch’ into ‘Lunch’ as a nickname.” She giggled softly, recalling the smiles and laughter of the kids. “It was the longest time that I’d gone without sneezing…almost three weeks.” As prone to sneezing as she was, it had been an astounding length of time to not switch with the other her.
Launch took a drink of beer, not giving a damn that she was underage for it. Her Saiyan senses were still new to her and taste had definitely changed a bit, so she was trying everything available to discover the extent of her sensory changes. “Freaked me out a bit when she did change…finding out that I’d been ‘asleep’ for about twenty days threw me for a loop.”
The sisters shared a smile with each other as those days were now over for both of them. They were separate individuals now and didn’t have to fear the next sneeze, wondering when and where they’d be the next time that they ‘woke up’ anymore.
“So, Launch and Lunch now, eh?” Roshi nodded as he easily accepted the new naming convention for the two sisters. “I’m glad that it was easy for you two to work this out.” He raised his empty beer glass and smiled. “Lunch, could I get a refill?”
“Of course!” Lunch walked over to get a cold beer from the fridge and cracked it open while she walked back. “Here you go, Roshi.” She poured the beer into his glass for him.
Roshi smiled and chuckled at the kindness. “Thank you, my dear!” He took a drink with gusto.
“I’m joining the training starting tomorrow, old man.” Launch told him before she ate a large fish fillet in three bites.
“PFFFTTT!!!” Roshi spit out his beer, straight onto Goku next to him.
Goku, his eyes closed, grimaced at the booze now covering him. “Hey, Master!” Kale was quick to offer him a napkin to wipe his face with.
“Hahahaha!” Caulifla, however, burst into laughter while pointing at Goku and Roshi.
Roshi adjusted his sunglasses while looking at Launch. “T-Training? My training?!”
Launch looked at him like he was dim. “Who else’s?” She looked at Goku, then Kale and Caulifla. “I’m a Saiyan now,” She waved her brown-furred monkey tail in the air to demonstrate. “I understand what Bulma meant now about suddenly having a drive to get stronger.” Launch looked the old man in the eyes through his sunglasses. “Don’t you want to help me get on the straight and narrow?” The way she said it was rough, but it was clear that Launch was serious about changing her ways.
“W-Well…ahem…” Roshi coughed into his fist. “It is the responsibility of the elders to help those of the younger generation that have gone astray back onto the proper path…” Not to mention that he didn’t really want to potentially set off her anger. ‘It wouldn’t be a bad thing to help her when she clearly means to change for the better, I suppose.’
“Then we’ll be training together from now on!” Kale smiled at Launch.
Lunch smiled as she placed a plate of Roshi’s favorite dish in front of him. “Thank you, Roshi. This means a lot to both of us.”
“Hahaha… Think nothing of it, my dear!” Roshi chuckled at Lunch’s thanks before eagerly digging into the food before him. “You’re such a good cook!” He complimented her brightly before taking a swig of his beer.
Goku beamed at Launch. “Since Bulma told me to pick her up in a few days, I’ll stay here and train with all of you until then! I’ll teach you strikes and kicks and proper form, if you want!”
“Hey, Goku! I was gonna offer to teach Launch that stuff!” Caulifla declared as she pointed at him from across the table.
Launch laughed and threw her arm around Caulifla’s shoulders. “You can both teach me if ya want! I don’t mind!”
“Achoo!” Lunch sneezed and both she and Launch visibly tensed.
But nothing happened.
“Bless you, Lunch.” Roshi said after a silent moment.
“Thank you, Roshi.” Lunch smiled with happy little tears at the corners of her eyes.
Launch let out a breath that she didn’t realize that she’d been holding. The relief visible on her face and in the way the tension released from her body. “Good…” She said quietly with a slow exhale.
Caulifla’s tail wrapped around Launch’s tail softly in support and comfort.
Kale moved over to hug Lunch warmly.
Goku smiled warmly at both young women that their wish had given them what they’d both wanted for a long, long time.
“Roshi, wanting to keep the mood light and fun for everyone grinned as he spoke up. “Training starts at four-thirty in the morning, Launch. No exceptions!”
“Sure thing, ol… Master Roshi.” Launch replied with the respect that was expected from student to master.
-Present-
Launch rubbed the back of her head and sighed. “Right… I did.” She looked at Caulifla, Kale, and even Goku all wearing heavy turtle shells as they prepared for the day of training.
“Now, as this is Launch’s first day, we’ll just do a light jog to our first stop!” Roshi said with a grin as he took off at a comfortable pace that any person could keep up with.
Goku, Kale, and Caulifla followed after Roshi immediately, while Launch closed the door of the Capsule House and then jogged to catch up with the others.
Many kilometers of skipping, zig-zagging, and a massive stone staircase later found Launch sweating and breathing heavily.
“This…is crazy…” Launch panted out as she made it to the top of the stairs the led to the small temple on top of the plateau. With a grunt she took the last empty milk bottle from the box and replaced it with a full one.
“You’re doing great, Launch!” Goku praised her as he stood with Roshi, Kale, and Caulifla, waiting for her patiently.
Caulifla nodded to Launch with a challenging grin. “You’re doing alright for your first time… But I did better.”
“Sis!” Kale admonished Caulifla with a little glare.
Launch straightened up as she stared Caulifla down. “Don’t think…I’m done yet!” She responded to the challenge with fierceness befitting of Saiyan females…even the rare ones that were more reserved, like Kale.
“Hohoho!” Roshi chuckled at Caulifla’s understanding of how to motivate Launch. “Well, we’d best hurry along! Don’t want the milk to go sour, do we?” He hopped up onto the nearby log that acted as a bridge between the plateau and the hill on the other side, spread his arms wide for balance—even if he didn’t need to—and began to cross. “Balance, balance, careful now!”
Once the group got to the bottom of the hill, they found the wide sandy area as always. While Roshi, Kale, Caulifla, and Goku managed to step quickly and avoid sinking into the shifting sands, Launch was nearly cursing as her shoes quickly filled up with sand as she pulled her feet from the sand with each step.
“ROOOAAARRR!!!” The roar of a Tyrannosaurus as it chased after the group made Launch break, however.
“If I had a gun on me I’d just shoot the damn thing” Launch cursed as she ran from the large predator.
Roshi—still leading the group—looked over his shoulder. “That wouldn’t be training, Launch!” None of his students that had trained with him for a few months were in any danger of being caught by the dinosaur. As it stood, Caulifla, Kale, Goku and Roshi could’ve easily killed the Tyrannosaurus without much effort. But that wasn’t what this part of the training was about.
Launch growled as she pushed herself to run faster without dropping her crate of milk bottles.
-Fields-
“Ow… Shit, shit…” Launch cursed under her breath at the pain in her fingers and hands, plus the burning in her arms, as she tore through the grass and soil of a large field, digging up perfect rows of overturned earth ready for planting. “My fucking fingers…” She winced as she found another rock in the soil with her middle finger.
Roshi watched over his students while doing squats with his heavy turtle shell on his back. “She’s doing better than she thinks.” He said to himself at Launch’s progress. Turning his eyes over to Kale, Goku, and Caulifla as they easily tore through three other fields—each much larger than the one that Launch was doing—he could understand why Launch might feel a bit discouraged.
When Launch finally finished plowing her field barehanded, she looked at her bruised and slightly bleeding hands with a pained grimace. “Shit… I knew they did this for training, but actually doing it…this hurts like hell.”
Goku smiled at Launch as he, Kale, and Caulifla waited for her at the well the farmer let them use to wash up after helping him out each day. “Want some help washing up, Launch?”
“Sure, thanks.” Launch gave them all a smile as Kale and Goku gently washed her hands of the dirt and blood. Once her hands were clean, Caulifla helped bandage them up so they’d heal faster.
“You should be all healed up by the time we do the swimming portion.” Caulifla encouraged Launch with a grin after securing the bandage on Launch’s left hand.
Roshi called out to the four of them from the edge of the field. “Come along now! Unless you don’t want breakfast, of course.” The old man laughed as all four Saiyans bolted past him towards the restaurant to fill their empty bellies.
At the restaurant, the kitchen was loud while they cooked as fast as they could to satisfy FOUR Saiyan appetites.
“I’ve never been so hungry in my life!” Launch declared as she devoured two rice balls in a blur, then downed an entire bowl of miso soup, before starting on a plate of grilled fish…that was meant for the entire table.
Kale giggled as she grabbed her next dish. “You’ll get used to it, Launch!” She poured a bit of soy sauce on the large bowl of rice that she’d grabbed and then dug in, her chopsticks a blur.
“So good!” Caulifla declared as she set down a plate that had previously had a large omelet on it…half a minute ago when the waiter had placed it on the table.
Goku was scarfing down a plate of dashimaki, after he’d already downed an entire bowl of miso soup, eaten a plate of bacon and vegetable fritters, and a bowl of noodles. “This place is always great!” He beamed between mouthfuls of food.
Roshi once more silently thanked Bulma for covering food expenses while the other Saiyans were under his tutelage. He sipped some tea and then took a bite of grilled fish and rice, eating at a much more sedate pace compared to his four students.
When they returned to Kame House for study time, Launch easily handled the lesson plan that Bulma had left. She was educated properly…when her own violent tendencies didn’t get in the way. So, the math, literature, and social studies lessons were easy enough for her.
Naptime was the best in Launch’s opinion. She nearly fell asleep as soon as she laid back in her hammock. To be fair, MOST new disciples of the Turtle School did the same on their first several days.
-Construction Site-
“Another pretty girl…”
“I like blondes.”
“This one is a bit older, maybe I’ll ask her out?”
The voices of the construction workers weren’t anywhere as quiet as they might have thought. But they all shut up when Launch shot a glare at them.
“Pigs.” Launch huffed as she moved a large wheelbarrow filled with dirt across the construction site. She glanced over to what Goku and the others were doing, only to see a group of the construction workers with sledgehammers in their hands gaping at the work the three Saiyans were doing.
“Hup!” Goku drove a thick steel beam straight into the ground with a hammer fist strike. He walked a meter forward and picked up the steel beam laying there to mark the next spot. “Hup!” With another hammer fist, he drove it deeply into the ground as well.
Caulifla was doing the same as Goku, just in the opposite direction. “Yah!” She slammed the thick steel beam into the ground with her own hammer fist. Then she walked forward to where the next beam was lying on the ground to mark the next spot. “Yah!” She slammed the beam into the ground like a piledriver with another hammer fist.
“One.” Kale tied a piece of rebar around one of the steel posts that had been driven into the ground. “Two.” She tied another piece of rebar around it like it was a pipe cleaner. Then she shuffled over to the next post and did the same. “One.” The rebar was tied to the steel beam under her incredible strength. “Two.” Once she was finished with the second one, she moved to the middle point between the two beams and tied the ends of the rebar together securely. Then moved on to the next section.
One of the burly construction workers finally managed to speak. “We usually just use wire ties to join the rebar to the steel beams before pouring the concrete…”
“They’re using their bare hands…” Another man spoke up with wide eyes. “…like piledrivers.”
The foreman, who’d initially been coming over to tell the men to get back to work, finally shook himself from his stunned shock. “I need to up their pay…”
Launch could only shake her head with an amused chuckle as she moved the heavy wheelbarrow filled with dirt.
-Lake-
Launch pulled off her green crop top to reveal a black swim top that was slightly more revealing than the one Bulma wore during her training. She untied her shoes and pulled them off along with her socks, tossing them aside before undoing her belt and shimming out of her shorts, revealing a matching black bikini bottom. “Like what you see, Goku?” Launch grinned at Goku looking her over.
“Yep!” Goku smiled at Launch after looking her over.
“What about you two?” Launch asked Caulifla and Kale with a smirk.
Caulifla smirked right back, also wearing her swimsuit. “I was right, your ass looks better with a Saiyan tail above it.”
“Sis!” Kale blushed cutely as she looked between Launch and Caulifla, wearing her own swimsuit.
Roshi clapped his hands once. “Come on, now.” He hid the fact that he’d been enjoying a look at Launch in her swimwear behind his sunglasses. “Ten laps for you, Launch. Kale, Caulifla, thirty laps! Goku, fifty laps! Begin!”
Goku practically threw off his gi and his pants, along with his boxers, making Launch lightly bite her lip at getting to see him in the buff. Kale and Caulifla weren’t any better as they drank in the sight of a naked Goku. With a splash, Goku jumped into the lake and started swimming swiftly. Caulifla and Kale shook themselves from their stupor and dived in after Goku, quickly swimming after him. Launch stepped into the lake, cooing lightly at the cool water on her heated muscles, before she slipped into the water fully and started swimming.
“Watch out for the shark!” Roshi called out with a chuckle as the fin of the bull shark crested above the water and Launch quickly sped up. While the four did their swimming laps, Roshi settled into a perfect horse stance and held it, training his body and his mind as he steadied his breathing and focused.
-Korin Tower-
Korin pivoted to the right, backstepped, and then leapt upwards into a forward flip, landing lightly on his feet behind where Bulma was, having easily dodged all of her attempts to snatch the flask of water form atop his staff. “My, my, you were close at the beginning there.”
Bulma’s tail lashed out, grabbing the middle part of the wooden staff. She twisted at the hips to snatch the flask from the top of the staff as her tail prevented Korin from moving it away. “Got it!”
“Hup!” Korin let go of his staff as he hopped upwards and pushed the bottom of the flask upwards and out of Bulma’s reach. He lightly kicked off his own staff and snatched the flask out of the air before easily landing on the other side of the pedestal in the middle of the large open area. “You are improving, Bulma.” He praised with a feline grin as he balanced the flask atop his left paw.
“Dang it!” Bulma used her tail to launch the wooden staff at Korin, made four After Images surrounding the cat sage while he was focused on the staff flying at him, and reached for the flask again.
Korin tossed the flask upward, Bulma’s hand passing through empty air, caught his wooden staff as Bulma leapt upwards to grab the bottle, then hooked her ankle with the curved top and with a quick pivot and turn, threw Bulma backwards towards the railing. With a chuckle he easily caught the flask as it fell on the pointed end of the top of his staff. “Getting closer.”
Bulma huffed for breath and analyzed the last two exchanges. “From the bottom… Straight upwards… Eliminate the staff as a variable…”
‘She just might succeed within the next few days, after all.’ Korin thought to himself as Bulma blurred and six After Images formed in seemingly random places all around him as the next attempt began while Bulma came at him in a rush.
-East Sea Highway ~ Rest Stop-
A large box truck rolled into a rest stop at a slow pace. The lack of any engine sound made it curious as to how it was moving. Until the truck rolled to a stop next to the fuel pumps, revealing a short, bald young teen having been the one pushing it all by himself.
“Thanks a million, youngster!” The man behind the wheel of the truck said as he opened the door of the cab and stepped out. “You really DID push us all the way here without trouble!”
Krillin smiled at the man. “Not a problem, sir. It was just the right thing to do.”
The other man in the truck cab got out and walked around the front of the truck. “We wouldn’t have needed to bother ya if SOMEONE had filled up the truck before we left the city!”
“I thought we could make it here before we ran out of fuel!” The driver shot back with a grunt. “I’m NOT going back to that gas station after last time!”
Krillin didn’t know what the situation was with whatever gas station they were talking about, but it wasn’t really his business. “It was no trouble. You even offered to buy me a meal now that we’re here.”
The driver and the rider both nodded to Krillin in agreement.
“It’s the least we could do, youngster.” The rider said with a smile. Thanks to you pushing us along like ya did, we’re not even off schedule yet.”
“You two head on inside the rest stop restaurant and get us a table, I’ll fill the truck up.” The driver said as he pulled out his wallet to pay the pump for fuel.
Krillin followed the rider towards the restaurant with a smile, looking forward to the free meal his kindness had earned him. He’d been walking alongside the East Sea Highway when he saw the out of fuel truck on the roadside a few kilometers back. After talking with the two gentlemen and then demonstrating that he COULD push it by himself, they’d made decent time to the rest stop and Krillin had gotten a little workout in at the same time.
The rider glanced at Krillin and couldn’t help but wonder how the young teen could be so strong. ‘Our truck is fully loaded right now, yet he pushed it along at almost sixteen kilometers an hour the whole way here. It would take a specialized tow truck to haul the truck here normally. This kid is unbelievably strong.’ Deciding not to look a gift horse in the mouth, the rider held the door to the rest stop open for Krillin and the two headed for the restroom to wash their hands first and foremost.
Krillin’s hands were black from the metal of the truck, as the vehicle had collected tons of dust over its many hauling trips since its last wash. “Thank you for the meal, sir.” He thanked the rider as they left the restroom and headed for the restaurant within the rest stop.
“No problem, youngster. We were lucky you happened to be there when we ran out of fuel!” The rider chuckled as he led Krillin over to the restaurant area. “You said that you’re headed for East City, right?”
“Yes, sir. I’m on a training journey for my martial arts, so I’m traveling around the world to gain experience.” Krillin explained as they were sat in a booth by a kind waitress that put three menus on the table.
The rider looked surprised and rather impressed. “At your age? That’s very brave of ya! But when you’re as strong as you are, I guess there’s not really that much to be afraid of, right?” He chuckled while ordering two coffees, one for him and another for the driver.
“A melon soda, please, ma’am.” Krillin requested of the waitress, the motherly-looking woman smiling warmly at him.
“Are ya sure that ya don’t want us to give ya a ride closer to East City? We’re headin’ that way.” The driver offered, having heard the last part of the conversation, as he sat down in the booth next to his buddy.
Krillin nodded to the driver, but gave him a grateful smile for the offer. “Thank you for the offer, sir. But, as my master would say: ‘That wouldn’t really be training.’ I’ve already accepted a few rides here and there, and I don’t want to lessen my martial arts journey.”
“Quite the tough young man, aren’t ya?” The diver nodded to Krillin for wanting to continue his journey under his own power. “Well, at the very least, let us buy ya some food and drinks to take with ya on the road.”
“Your generosity is humbly accepted, sir.” Krillin agreed as he gave the two men a short bow from his seated position. ‘I wonder how Goku and Bulma are doing on their martial arts journeys?’
-Korin Tower ~ Three Days Later-
“Oh my!” Korin gasped as his staff was grabbed by one of Bulma’s hands, her leg kicking out to hit the bottom of the wooden staff to force it to turn horizontal in her grip. Korin leapt for the flask, anticipating that Bulma would go for it. “Huh?!”
Bulma smirked as she grabbed Korin’s short leg and threw him across the open area, completely ignoring her actual objective. It was something very different for her, based on everything that Korin had seen and learned about Bulma over the last several days. “Got it!” She blurred as she rushed for the flask before it could hit the ground. When she grabbed it, Bulma beamed and raised the flask high into the air. “I did it!”
Korin chuckled as he gave Bulma a light applause. “Very good, Bulma. Not only did you anticipate my moves, you took into account that I was anticipating YOURS, and did the opposite of what I anticipated. You’ve learned the lesson very well. Your method is different from Goku’s, but no less correct. You’re incredibly intelligent and a martial artist should always play to their strengths.” He praised Bulma for her success. “Would you like to take a drink?” He motioned to the flask in her hands with a grin.
The flask landed perfectly in Korin’s hand, Bulma smirking back at the cat sage. “I don’t need it.” Her smirk turned into a soft smile as she bowed respectfully to Korin. “Master Korin.”
Korin smiled back at Bulma. “As it doesn’t look like Goku is here yet, feel free to take a bath on the lower floor, if you’d like.”
A few hours later and the Flying Nimbus stopped beside Korin’s home and Goku hopped off.
“Bulma! I’m here!” Goku called out with a bright smile.
“Goku!” Bulma smiled back as she stood up from the low table where she and Korin were having tea.
The two were hugging a second later, their tails entwined without a single thought.
“I missed you!” Goku grinned at Bulma happily.
Bulma giggled at her boyfriend. “I missed you too.” She pecked his lips once. “Not going to ask if I’ve succeeded in getting the water?”
Goku shook his head once. “Nope! I knew you’d succeed, Bulma!” The complete belief that he had in her made Bulma smile warmly at him.
“She did succeed.” Korin confirmed with a grin as he approached Goku, his wooden staff in hand.
“Master Korin.” Goku bowed politely to the martial arts sage.
Korin nodded back to Goku, his grin still in place. “You two certainly put your master’s time to shame. However, it has been rather fun these past weeks. I do hope that your fellow disciples might attempt to climb my tower in the future.”
“We can tell them about this place, for sure.” Bulma agreed with a nod.
“I’ve already told them!” Goku said with a laugh.
“Then I suppose I’ll look forward to more visitors in time.” Korin chuckled before nodding to Bulma and Goku. “With your lessons with me complete, it is time for you to continue on your martial arts journeys from here.”
Bulma and Goku both bowed back to Korin respectfully before Goku hopped onto the Nimbus, and then Bulma hopped into his lap. A moment later the magical golden cloud blasted through the sky and made a wide arc as it headed back towards the training island.
-Kame House-
“Goku’s back.” Kale, Caulifla, and Launch all said at the same time, their Saiyan hearing picking up the unique sound of the Flying Nimbus outside.
Sure enough, a moment later, the front door opened, Bulma and Goku stepping inside with smiled.
“Bulma!” Everyone greeted the genius Saiyan with warm smiles.
“Hey guys!” Bulma smiled back before hugging Kale, then Caulifla, and then looking Launch over. “Well… You look good with a Saiyan tail.” She said with a little smirk.
Launch smirked right back. “Damn right, I do.” She flicked her tail side to side before she and Bulma hugged for a long moment. “Say hi to my sister too.”
“Hello, Bulma!” Lunch greeted with a smile and a wave.
“Lunch, right?” Bulma asked, even though she knew that Goku wouldn’t lie to her.
Lunch nodded happily. “Yep! I hope your training went well!”
Bulma hugged the other woman with a grin. “Very well!” She confirmed as she let Lunch go and then sat down at the table. “Oh yeah, Master Roshi…”
Roshi looked at Bulma. “Yes?”
“Beat your record!” Bulma laughed brightly.
“Gah!” Roshi flinched back at the exclamation and then the realization of what it meant. “Eh? B-Both Goku AND you too?! Huh… And I thought I did fairly well back in the day.” After a moment to think it over, Roshi chuckled brightly. “Guess I’m a better teacher than I thought! Hahaha!”
Caulifla leaned forward with a challenging look. “Then I’M going to beat Goku’s record! I’m going to head straight for this Korin Tower place when I start my martial arts journey!”
Kale nodded in agreement. “I want to try too!” The thought of climbing the tower that Goku had told her about and then training with Korin—who sounded like an adorable cat from Goku’s description—made her look forward to the new kind of challenge.
Hours later, after a large dinner, the Capsule House was filled once more. Goku, Caulifla, and Kale were snuggling on the large bed, sharing soft kisses and nuzzles as they instinctively marked each other with their scents. Bulma and Launch were sharing kisses as well, their tails gently playing around together.
“What happened to you not being into girls?” Launch questioned as she licked her lips with a smirk.
“Shut up…” Bulma rolled her eyes as she pushed Launch back onto the bed and kissed her lips again.
The five Saiyans all snuggled up together a bit later, knowing that Roshi would be over at four-thirty in the morning tomorrow for training.
-Morning-
“Ugh…” Launch groaned as she lay on the bed, unable to move properly at all.
Caulifla let go of Launch’s tail a moment later. “And that’s why we’re training our tails now.”
Kale grimaced as Bulma squeezed her tail. “It’s getting…a little better…” She still felt the loss of her strength, but it wasn’t the complete debilitation that Launch was going through any more.
“Yeah…” Goku said, his eye drooping as Bulma was squeezing his tail with her other hand. “I can still move a bit, now.” He proved it as he pushed himself upright and then stood up from the bed. “But I still…feel weak…” He fell back onto the bed, sitting on the edge with Bulma.
Launch grabbed Caulifla’s tail suddenly, making the spunky Saiyan girl fall over onto the bed. “This really is a major weakness.”
Caulifla pushed herself into a sitting position. “We can train it out…” She was clearly forcing her eyes to not droop, even as she felt the loss of her strength. “We just have to…tough it out…”
“Uh…” Bulma swayed as she sat on the edge of the bed, Kale squeezing her tail now. “Even having it happen before…this is so…weird…” She managed to get out, her eyes drooping as she lost her strength.
“For now, during sparring, it’ll be best to keep your tail wrapped around your waist.” Goku told Launch, showing her how he and the others kept their tails wrapped just above their hips.
Launch found it rather easy to wrap her tail around her waist after seeing Goku do it. “Huh, this actually feels pretty normal.”
Knock Knock Knock
The strong knocking on the door let them all know that Roshi was ready for daily training.
“I’m ready for training, Master Roshi!” Goku said as soon as he saw Roshi while exiting the Capsule House.
“Unfortunately, you two are on your own.” Roshi said while motioning to Goku and Bulma.
“Huh?” Goku tilted his head in confusion, but Bulma seemed to already understand that Roshi was making sure that they actually went on their martial arts journeys.
Roshi chuckled, having seen this situation coming. “Goku, you and Bulma have already gone through my training. You’ve become great fighters…but you both want to get even stronger, right?”
Goku nodded rapidly. “Yeah! I want to get a whole LOT stronger!”
“Same here.” Bulma agreed with a nod.
“Then there’s no more use in training under men here.” Roshi said to Goku with a smile. “Instead, you must resume your martial arts journey! Go out into the wide world and learn more about life!” He held out his hand as if he was holding something. “The world is vast and strange! Countless adventures await you! And every one is an opportunity to learn! Go forth, grow stronger, and come back to amaze me!”
“Wow…” Launch, Kale, and Caulifla all looked mildly impressed with Roshi’s speech.
Goku nodded as he took in Roshi’s words. “Alright then! I’ll go travel around and get really strong! It sounds fun!”
“It will be fun!” Roshi laughed at the excitement in Goku’s eyes. “Well then, let us meet again at the next Tenka’ichi Budokai! I will look forward to it!”
Bulma tilted her head as she recalled what the announcer had said at the end of the last tournament. “That’s in roughly two and a half years, right?”
“We won’t get to see Goku or Bulma for two and a half years?!” Kale questioned, she didn’t want that!
“Nah! We might meet while we’re on our training journeys!” Goku assured Kale with a warm smile and a hug.
“You better visit at least a couple of times before my training is over, Goku.” Launch said with a playful glare and a smirk.
Goku nodded with a smile. “Sure! I’ll stop by!”
Bulma grinned at Launch. “I’ll visit too, of course.”
“Good.” Launch smirked right back at Bulma.
Caulifla lightly punched Goku’s shoulder. “Once Kale and I are finished with our training, we’re going to head for Korin Tower and get even stronger! Don’t be surprised when we’re stronger than you at the next Tenka’ichi Budokai!”
“I’m gonna get a lot stronger too!” Goku retorted with a challenging grin of his own.
A round of hugs and gentle kisses were shared between the girls and Goku—and the girls and Bulma—before the two prepared to leave the training island.
“Nimb…” Goku called out, before Roshi cut him off.
“Hey! Hold it right there!” Roshi pointed his staff at Goku. “You mustn’t use the Flying Nimbus! You must walk! You must run! You must swim! That is all training as well!” He moved his staff to point at Bulma. “That includes vehicles for you, Bulma! On your journey, you must NOT rely on them, but on your own body!”
Bulma blinked at Roshi like he was crazy. “What kind of rule…? Are you crazy?!”
“It makes sense, Bulma! We’ll get stronger that way!” Goku smiled brightly at her.
“Nothing fazes you, huh, Goku?” Bulma said with a shake of her head and a little grin. “Can I at least fly back home this first time? My dad was starting research on Saiyan biology and I really want to know what he’s discovered.” She asked Roshi for a one time exemption of the ‘No vehicles’ rule.
Roshi rubbed his beard for a moment. “I suppose…” He pointed his staff at her again. “But you mustn’t RELY on vehicles until the next Tenka’ichi Budokai! I’ll know if you did based on your conditioning!”
Bulma raised her hands in front of her. “Alright, alright, I get it!”
Goku gave Bulma a quick kiss on the cheek and a hug, then gave the same to Caulifla, Kale, and Launch. “I’ll see you guys out in the world or when I come to visit!” He waved to everyone. “Bye Lunch!”
Everyone turned to see the blue-haired woman standing on the porch of Kame house, a fluffy housecoat wrapped around her.
“I’ll see you when you visit, Goku.” Lunch smiled and waved before covering her mouth as she yawned. “You too, Bulma.” She waved to her fellow blue-haired woman.
“See ya!” Bulma smiled, jogging over to give Lunch a quick hug.
Goku waved to everyone and then took off in a run straight towards the ocean. With a splash, Goku dived in and began to swim away at impressive speed.
“D-Did he just decide to SWIM to the mainland?” Launch asked, stunned by what her new boyfriend had just done.
Bulma laughed brightly, used to Goku’s sillier antics. “Well, if he keeps swimming in that direction…he’ll actually be fairly close to Mt. Paozu when he gets to the mainland…or at least the right region.” That briefly made her wonder if Saiyans might have some innate ability to find ‘home’ or something. Deciding to test such things later on her own, Bulma opened her Capsule Case and picked out the vehicle that she wanted. “Alright, I’ll see you all a bit later!” She tossed the Capsule a safe distance away.
Bomf
A one-person plane appeared and Bulma gave Launch, Kale, and Caulifla all another hug and kiss before she hopped into the vehicle. With a hum from the engines the plane headed towards the nearby town, only to lift off the ground and then ascend at a sharp angle into the air. A moment later and it blasted off at higher speed, quickly heading for the horizon.
“Let us all match Goku and Bulma’s enthusiasm in our training until we see them again!” Roshi cheered, refocusing Launch, Kale, And Caulifla’s attention onto himself.
“Sure thing.” Caulifla nodded as she adjusted her sixty kilogram turtle shell onto her back.
Kale nodded, raising both of her fists in front of her. “I’m ready, Master!”
Launch groaned a little as she hefted her twenty kilogram shell onto her back. “Let’s get to it. I want to impress Goku and Bulma with how strong I’ve gotten when they visit!”
“We’ll start the first kilometer with lunges!” Roshi declared as the four of them headed out.
Lunch went back into Kame house a moment later to start cooking herself some breakfast. Once that was done, she’d do a little grocery shopping for lunch and dinner ingredients after the sun had fully risen.

Comments
Kale and Caulifla are already planning to head for Korin Tower themselves once they finish their training with Roshi, because Goku and Bulma told them about it. There will be a time skip, but I do want to show a bit of the time between now and the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budokai.

2025-11-13 21:12:58 +0000 UTCNow that Goku and Bulma are off to do their own personal training, is Roshi going to send Kale and Caulifla to Korin for holy water training? And I assume there's going to be a time skip too?
