Chapter 25 – The Lost Dragon Ball and the Second Wish

The Nimbus sped through the sky at great speed, leaving a long, golden trail behind it, making more than a few people on the ground below wonder what they’d just seen streaking through the sky. Atop the magical golden cloud sat Goku and Gohan, the old man marveling at the speed that they were flying at as the ground below went from desert, to scrubland, to plains, to forested mountains, to large sprawling forest with rivers running through the sea of trees.

“My word, this cloud does move quickly.” Gohan said to Goku with a small chuckle. “Where is this last girlfriend of yours, my boy?”

“Training with Master Korin.” Goku answered with a bright smile as Nimbus flew them towards the incredibly tall tower that they couldn’t even see yet.

Gohan blinked, his mouth falling open in surprise. “T-Training with M-Master Korin?!”

“Yep!” Goku confirmed with a laugh. “Bulma’s strong and smart!”

Gohan took a second to process that information. “She truly must be to have gained the privilege of training under Master Korin.” He patted Goku’s shoulder with a small smile. “I’m looking forward to meeting her.”

That made Goku beam at his grandpa while they flew through the sky on Nimbus. He’d truly missed his grandpa these last few years after the old man had passed away. Being able to meet him again was giving the young man closure that he didn’t even realize he’d missed out on when Gohan had taken his final nap that the elderly man had never woken up from.

Only a short time later Korin Tower could be seen in the distance, the large stone pole that rose from the earth to just under the heavens was hard to make out at first, but became clearer as Nimbus zoomed towards it. Since they weren’t going to request Korin’s training, Goku directed Nimbus upwards towards the top, the clouds passing by in a blur. Gohan held onto one of Goku’s shoulders to not fall off as the magical cloud went vertical and in only a few moments, the top of Korin Tower came into view.

As Nimbus slowed to a stop, without Goku telling it to, the Saiyan did recall that Korin mentioned the magical cloud couldn’t go any higher than the top of his tower. But it was enough as the sounds of Bulma and Korin’s training filled the air, and Goku and Gohan got to watch for a long moment.

“There!” Bulma blurred and three After Images surrounded Korin the instant he backstepped to avoid Bulma grabbing his staff. The Bulma on the right kicked the bottom of Korin’s staff, forcing it to jar upwards in the white cat sage’s hand. The bottle of water flew up and off the top of the staff and Bulma lunged for it.

Whack

“Ack!” Bulma had barely managed to block the flat side of Korin’s staff from smacking her in the face. With her concentration broken, Korin easily tripped her, making her stumble, giving the martial arts sage more than enough of an opening to gently and easily catch the falling flask of water on the pointed end of his staff.

“My, my, Miss Bulma…” Korin chuckled at how far Bulma had come in only a couple of days. “…at this rate, you won’t make that ‘just a few days deadline that you set for yourself.” He teased the teenager with a laugh, seeing Bulma already mentally going over how he’d evaded her and stopped her latest attempt. ‘It’s not the same way that Goku did it, but this young lady is making astounding progress. Her sharp mind is not only figuring out my patterns, but applying them to the skill of anticipating her opponent’s moves to close the gap between us. Speaking of Goku…’ Korin looked towards the Nimbus floating at the edge of the open space he used for training those that managed to climb his tower. “Welcome back, Goku.”

Bulma’s head turned so fast it was practically a blur. “Goku?” She beamed at seeing her boyfriend again. “Who’s that with you?” She’d certainly never seen the elderly man before.

“Bulma!” Goku hopped off the Nimbus, followed by Gohan, both men landing on the floor lightly. He was about to rush toward Bulma, but a tug on the back of his gi from his grandpa stopped him.

“Manners, Goku.” Gohan chuckled at his excited grandson. “It is an honor to meet you, Master Korin.” The old martial arts master put his hands together and bowed politely to Korin, showing respect and reverence for the sage.

Goku quickly copied his grandpa and put his hands together before bowing. “Nice to see you again, Master Korin.”

Korin chuckled a little before nodding to both of them, his staff held comfortably in his right hand, the flask of water still dangling from it. “Good to see you again, Goku.” He then looked at Gohan specifically. “And nice to meet you for the first time, Son Gohan. I always wondered if you would attempt to climb my tower as your master once did. However, neither you nor Ox King ever came to try.”

Gohan gave a short nod to Korin. “Yes, Master Korin. After hearing of the three years of difficulty that Master Roshi took to succeed, I decided it best to spend that time traveling and honing my martial arts.”

“W-Wait!” Bulma spoke up as she looked between Korin and Gohan. “Gohan? As in Goku’s late grandfather?!” Her eyes nearly bugged out at realizing who the elderly man was.

“Fortuneteller Baba brought him to the living world for one day!” Goku told Bulma with a bright smile. “I introduced him to Caulifla, Kale, and Launch already, but I didn’t want to miss a chance to introduce you to him too, Bulma!”

Bulma smiled at Goku, but quickly looked down at herself, seeing her gi disheveled from all of her attempts to take the flask of water from Korin. She also knew her hair was probably a mess, even with the ponytail that she’d put it in. Bulma quickly tried to straighten herself up as best as she could in only a few moments before Gohan greeted her. ‘I didn’t expect to suddenly meet Goku’s grandpa!’ She really wanted to make a good first impression on the only family that Goku had ever known! “It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir.” Bulma gave Gohan a small, polite bow.

“It’s nice to meet you as well, Miss Bulma.” Gohan returned her bow with one of his own. “Goku has told me a bit about you on our trip here.” He smiled at the young lady warmly.

“Only good things, I hope.” Bulma glanced at Goku, getting a bright smile from her boyfriend.

Gohan chuckled at that. “Of course, he’s very smitten with his girlfriends.” Bulma blushed just slightly at that. “Thank you for looking after my grandson. I know he can be a bit much sometimes. I hope you both have a long life of happiness together though.” The old man smiled at Bulma warmly.

Bulma’s blushed darkened a bit at what was implied, but when Goku took her hand in his, she couldn’t help but smile and look at him with love and affection. “Yeah, I don’t think that’ll be a problem.”

“So, Goku only told me a bit about how you two met. Would you care to fill me in more?” Gohan asked with a light laugh.

Korin chuckled as he set out some tea for everyone, having made it while the others were talking. “Sit, sit. You only have so much time, Son Gohan. Please, spend it to relieve any worries that linger with you before you return to the afterlife.”

Gohan gave Korin a deeper bow than before. “I am honored, Master Korin.”

“Grandpa was surprised when I showed him the other Dragon Balls!” Goku laughed as he sat between Bulma and Gohan at the low table.

“I never knew that little bauble I picked up so long ago was part of a set.” Gohan admitted with a laugh of his own.

Bulma smiled, seeing a bit of where Goku’s kind and warm nature had come from. “That Dragon Ball changed Goku’s life.” She told Gohan with a smile. “It’s what led to our first meeting and the adventure we had afterwards.” She began to go into the story of how she’d originally found a Dragon Ball in her basement, then to meeting Goku, the adventure they’d shared to gather all seven, and then to the wish that she’d made to keep Goku from being alone. “It was a bit of a shock, but Shenron knew exactly what I wanted when I made my wish.” Her tail entwined with Goku’s as they smiled warmly at each other.

“You two had quite the adventure together.” Gohan chuckled after learning the full story. “I never would’ve imagined that the pretty orange ball I found that day would lead to all of this. Life is quite unpredictable; but things seem to work out for the better more often than not.”

Goku nodded in agreement with his grandpa. “Yep! But this second time gathering them was even crazier than the first time, mostly because of those jerks from the Red Ribbon Army.” He looked between Bulma and Gohan. “Speaking of, we should probably get back to the old crone lady’s place to find the last Dragon Ball.”

“Bulma will probably need another week or so before she manages to take the water from me.” Korin sipped his tea with clear amusement. “Make sure to come pick her up then.”

“I almost had it today!” Bulma declared, pointing at Korin with a grimace.

Korin merely waved off her declaration. “Sure, sure. You keep telling yourself that.”

After a few proper goodbyes—including a warm kiss between Bulma and Goku—both Goku and Gohan jumped back onto the Nimbus and flew back towards Fortuneteller Baba’s palace. Gohan, just as Korin had said, was greatly more relaxed. After his passing, he’d worried for his grandson that had lived a hermit lifestyle with him growing up on Mt. Paozu. But now, after seeing his grandson not only taller, stronger, healthy, and happy (as well with plenty of love in his life), Gohan was at peace, knowing that Goku would be fine.

-Fortuneteller Baba’s Palace-

“They’re back!” Caulifla called out to everyone as she spotted the small golden dot in the sky almost two hours after Goku had taken off with his grandpa.

Kale perked up with a warm smile. “Great!”

“They took their time, huh?” Launch joked as she’d been watching the horizon that Goku had vanished over since he’d left. Only now was she able to spot what Caulifla had seen a few moments earlier.

As Nimbus flew down from the sky, the magical cloud came to a slow stop before the group of Roshi, Bab, Kale, Caulifla, and Launch. Gohan hopped off with a gentle leap, his expression one of contentment. Goku jumped off and smiled brightly at everyone.

“We’re back!” Goku exclaimed with a laugh.

“Sorry for the sudden departure, Madam Crone.” Gohan bowed politely to Baba.

Baba waved it off with a small chuckle. “Think nothing of it.” She looked over at Goku, then to Launch. “Now then, since you won, I suppose it’s about time that I divine the location of the last Dragon Ball for you, as I promised.” The crystal ball floated down to just above the ground and Bab hopped off of it, landing upon the tiles of the outdoor ring.

Gohan smiled at everyone as he put his hands behind his back. “Well then, my time is just about up. I’ll be heading back to the afterlife.”

“Grandpa, do you have to go back so soon?” Goku asked, wanting more time with his grandfather.

“It makes me very happy to see you coming along so well, Goku.” Gohan smiled proudly at his grandson. He turned to look at everyone else with a thankful smile. “I hope that Master Roshi and your girlfriends will all continue to look after Goku for me.”

That got a chorus of agreement from the others, all smiling at Gohan.

Gohan turned to Baba and gave her a deep bow of gratitude. “Madam Crone, you have my deepest thanks, truly.”

“Sure. Take care.” Baba gave Gohan a small smile and a nod. More than a few of the martial masters that she’d brought back for a day had given her thanks for allowing them to have one last meeting with their loved ones or disciples.

“I’ll be looking forward to seeing an even more grown-up Goku in the far distant future.” Gohan told Goku as he placed his hand on his grandson’s shoulder. The unspoken words to live a long and happy life didn’t need to be said at all.

“Yup!” Goku smiled at Gohan and pulled his grandpa into one last hug. The two men held it for a prolonged moment before stepping back from each other and giving each other a polite bow, both as family and as master and pupil.

Gohan turned to everyone, giving warm smiles to Launch, Caulifla, and Kale, and a short bow to Roshi. “Well then, I’ll be looking forward to hearing a long lifetime full of stories when we all meet again in the afterlife.”

“Sure thing…?” Caulifla said with a slow wave to the old man. It was both a kind sentiment, but also a little weird to make plans to meet after you died.

“Grandpa! I promise that I’ll keep working on training my tail, like you told me! I’ll be a whole lot stronger then!” Goku declared brightly.

Roshi stepped forward and gave Gohan a smile as they both shared a quick bow to one another. “I’m glad that you’re still doing well, even for a dead guy.” He joked with his old student.

Gohan chuckled at his old master’s words. “Hahaha! I can’t complain much.” He leaned in a whispered to Roshi. “There are quite a lot of lovely ladies in the afterlife.” Both old men shared brief snickers of slightly perverted laughter.

“We’re very glad that we got to meet you, sir.” Kale smiled at Gohan brightly.

“Take it easy!” Caulifla grinned with a short wave.

Launch smirked at Gohan. “We’ll keep an eye on Goku.”

“I’m very glad that I got to meet you all as well.” Gohan smiled at the three young women. “Goodbye now, take care.”

“Goodbye!” Everyone said and Gohan simply vanished before their eyes back to the afterlife.

Baba, letting everyone say their goodbyes, spoke up from next to her crystal ball. “You do still want me to divine for you, right? The location of the seventh Dragon Ball, correct?” The old woman in the black robe and witch hat held up her hands and began to chant under her breath. “Ya-ya-ya-yatta-yatta-ya…” The crystal ball began to glow faintly as it hovered in the air. “Now…” Bab looked into the large crystal ball and easily found the location of the last Dragon Ball. “It’s moving.”

“Moving?” Launch asked, trying to see what the crystal ball was showing.

Kale and Caulifla were on either side of her, trying to see as well.

“Look. The ball is inside of a moving car…” Baba stepped aside, letting everyone see the image within the crystal ball. “…can you see it?”

Within the ball was a simple car with two doors traveling down a road at a good speed.

“I thought it was in some kind of special materials and that’s why the radar couldn’t find it.” Caulifla said as she crossed her arms as she watched the car in the crystal ball.

“Maybe it is?” Kale guessed as she looked into the crystal ball. “The Dragon Balls aren’t very big. You could put one in a bento box if you wanted to.”

Goku looked between the crystal ball and Baba for a moment. “Where’s the car? Where is it going?!”

Baba pointed to her right. “It’s in that direction. About two-hundred kilometers away… And approaching us…”

Goku’s grin could’ve competed with the sun. “It’s already close?!” He jumped back on Nimbus and blasted off in the direction that Bab was pointing. “I’ll be right back!” He and the Nimbus were merely a speck in the distance a moment later.

-On the Road-

The lone car driving down the empty stretch of road kicked up a cloud of dust behind it. Within the vehicle, three people were plotting together as they headed for the six glowing dots on the semi-large screen built into the car’s dashboard.

“So that’s the plan. Understood?” Pilaf questioned his two ‘colonels’, Mai and Shu.

“Yes sir!” Mai, the one driving, agreed with a nod.

Shu, sitting in the back seat, agreed with a smile. “Ingenious as always, Lord Pilaf!”

Pilaf held onto the box on his lap with a little cackle. “Heeheehee… As long as we have the Pilaf Machine, no matter who it is that’s gathered the other six Dragon Balls, it’ll be simple to take them for ourselves.” He looked at the screen with a smirk, seeing that the six Dragon Balls hadn’t moved from where they had been for hours. “This time for sure, I will have my wish granted by the Dragon God! This world will be under my control! The whole world will move according to my will!”

“When you become king, what do you plan to do?” Shu asked as he stuck his head between the two front seats to look at Pilaf.

“Huh?” Pilaf looked at the dogman ninja blankly for a moment. “Well, obviously I’d start with… Um…uh…” He looked out the windshield as he struggled to come up with something. “I could…uh…” With a grimace at not having any actual plans, Pilaf growled at Shu. “Nevermind! That’s classified information!”

With the loud, snappy response from Pilaf distracting everyone, none of them saw the golden cloud in the air coming towards them at incredible speed.

“Hey! There it is!” Goku smiled as he saw the same car on the road as he’d seen in the large crystal ball. “It’s the car!” He leapt off of Nimbus, timing his jump to land atop the moving vehicle.

Thump

Mai looked up at the roof of the car at the sudden noise. “Wh-What was that noise?”

Shu and Pilaf were both looking at the roof as well.

“M-Maybe a rock fell?” Pilaf suggested, though it didn’t make any real sense given that the few rocky outcroppings they could see were all well-away from the road.

Goku poked his head down from the roof of the car, looking through the windshield at the three people inside. “Hey! Can I have your Dragon Ball?!” He asked with a wide smile. Pilaf, Shu, and Mai all looked at Goku with wide eyes, stunned into silence. “Huh?” Goku blinked once as he took in who was inside the car. “Haven’t we met before?”

“YAAAAHHHH!!!” Mai screamed and swerved the car in her panic.

“GYAAAHHH!!!” Shu and Pilaf weren’t any better at seeing Goku’s again.

“Whoa!” Goku was thrown from the roof of the car, but easily flipped twice in the air and landed on the ground without issue. “That was weird.” He didn’t understand the freakout as the car rolled off the side of the road, kicking up a huge cloud of dust as it skidded to a stop in the dirt.

“I-It’s that kid…” Shu stuttered out, his eyes wide and locked onto Goku through the window.

Pilaf clutched the box in his lap tighter. “B-B-But it c-can’t be!”

“H-How did he know…?” Mai gaped, her eyes also wide in fear as she watched Goku through the driver’s window.

“If w-we put the Dragon Ball in this box…” Pilaf looked at the box in his lap that he was holding onto for dear life. “Th-Then it shouldn’t appear on any radar…!” They had spent a lot of money and time testing materials to block Dragon Balls from being found by radars since Pilaf’s last wish had been stolen!

Goku pointed at the three in the car as he finally recalled where he’d seen them before—helped by the fact that Bulma had retold the story to Gohan a couple of hours ago—and he narrowed his eyes at them. “I remember you three now! You tried to kill me and Bulma the last time we looked for the Dragon Balls!”

Mai looked towards Pilaf for instructions. “What’re we going to do now? Our plan was to ambush whoever had the Dragon Balls… But now we’re being ambushed!”

“Don’t lose your cool.” Pilaf said, racking his mind for a solution. “He’s a simpleton, if you recall. Him coming alone could make getting the rest of the Dragon Balls easy! He’s not technically an enemy right now, after all!”

“Hey! Come out of the car!” Goku called out to the three. Even if he was slightly angry at them for what happened last time, he’d seen the rubble of the castle that had been left after he and Bulma had turned into Oozaru, and had briefly considered that the three of them had been killed back then. Seeing them alive, Goku decided that if they just handed over the Dragon Ball, he’d let them go without hurting them.

Mai and Shu exited the car first, followed by Pilaf who opened the metal box and pulled out the One-Star Ball. All three walked over, standing a safe distance—at least they thought so—from Goku.

“Heh heh heh! I’m impressed that you were able to determine the location of this Dragon Ball.” Pilaf said as he held the One-Star Ball in his right hand.

“You guys are up to no good again, aren’t you?” Goku questioned rhetorically as he stared the three down. “Well, you better just give that Dragon Ball to me.”

Pilaf smirked at Goku, knowing the young man wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. “Hehehe… We are two of a kind, don’t you think? Both gathering the Dragon Balls…” He hefted the One-Star Ball up a little more, seeing Goku’s eyes follow it for a second. “So consider this. If you fight us and win, I’ll give you this Dragon Ball. But if we win, you’ll give us the six Dragon Balls that you’ve already gathered.”

Goku narrowed his eyes at Pilaf. “How’d you know I have six Dragon Balls?”

“Hahaha! I know everything!” Pilaf declared pompously, not seeing any reason to tell Goku about their own radar. “Well? Will you abide by the terms I just named?!”

“Sure! If you don’t mind losing!” Goku said, knowing that these three weren’t very strong at all.

Pilaf smirked at getting the dimwit to agree to the fight. “Then it’s a deal! If you lie, I hope your pants catch fire!”

Goku took his stance, his eyes watching all three of his opponents. “Then let’s fight!”

“Fwahaha! Here we come!” Pilaf, Mai, and Shu all pulled a capsule from their pockets and held them up. The three clicked the buttons on top and threw them in the space between them and Goku.

Bomf

Three clouds of smoke obscured what had been released for a second.

“Go!” Pilaf ordered and the three of them entered the mech suits that had appeared.

Mai’s mech suit was large and pink, the full frame supported on two small legs with a hollow base, large arms whirred as they were raised and aimed at Goku. She could only see outside through a circular viewport on the front of the machine.

Shu’s suit was green, smaller, with large legs, a spherical body, two small arms that were actually guns, and a long prehensile tail with a flamethrower in it. Like Mai, his only viewport to see outside was a circular window at face level.

Pilaf’s suit was the shortest, painted blue, had an almost egg-shape with two legs and two arms that were almost in proportion with each other and no visible weapons. Just like his ‘colonels’, his only way to see his target was a round viewport right in the middle of the machine.

“Gahahaha! Well, what do you think?! Surrender is your only hope! The Pilaf Machine is invincibly powerful!” Pilaf crowed from within his mech suit.

“Oh, come on! Let’s fight!” Goku withdrew the Nyoibō from the sheath on his back and held it at the ready. If they wanted to use machines and weapons, then he’d use his weapon too!

Pilaf scowled at Goku through the window of his suit. “You’re pretty confident, aren’t you?” The hand of the machine pointed at Goku. “Do you really want to die that badly? If you’re mocking the Pilaf Machine that my genius has created, you’re going to regret it! Humans are but ants compared to its power!”

Goku blurred into a skipping side kick that slammed into the front of Pilaf’s mech suit, sending the machine flying back to crash into an outcropping of rock with a loud bang. “Hup!” With a swing of his Nyoibō he shattered the small left leg of her mech suit, sending it crashing to the ground sideways. “Extend!” The Nyoibō glowed faintly as it rapidly increased its length and Goku swung it through the two large legs of Shu’s mech suit, tearing both off and sending the spherical body crashing to the ground. “Hyah!” He smacked the metal ball, denting it horribly and shattering the reinforced glass of the window.

“Gah!” Shu cried out from inside, the controls of his machine not responding as he sat in the damaged mech suit in a daze at how fast he’d been taken down.

“I can’t stand up!” Mai cried out as her top heavy mech couldn’t right itself at all with only one leg. “YAAAHHH!!!” She screamed in terror when Goku’s staff smashed into the middle of her mech suit, crumpling the thick metal and filling the small cockpit with red warning lights as systems failed.

Goku sheathed his Nyoibō as he dashed over to Pilaf’s mech suit that was trying to stand up. “Tah!” His fist shattered the sole window into fragments. With a grin he grabbed the front of Pilaf’s robe and pulled the wannabe tyrant out of his damaged mech suit. With a half-hearted toss, Pilaf went soaring through the air and crashed down on his stomach, knocking the wind from him.

“Heeeeuuuhhh…” Pilaf wheezed out as he lay flat on the ground.

“I won! Give me the Dragon Ball!” Goku said as he stood over the downed Pilaf.

The tiny would-be tyrant shakily pulled the One-Star Ball from his pocket and handed it over. “H-Here…you g-go…”

“Thanks!” Goku took the Dragon Ball with a smile, seeing both Shu and Mai having forced their way out of their wrecked mech suits and looking at Goku in shock and fear. “Oh, and if you three do anymore bad stuff…” He pointed his index finger at Pilaf’s still functional mech. “Dodonpa!” The beam of orange-ish ki lanced from his fingertip and hit the mech suit faster than the blink of an eye.

BOOM

The machine exploded from the inside out after the Dodonpa had pierced a perfectly circular hole straight through the metal body. The burning wreckage scattered about the area terrified Pilaf, Mai, and Shu as they all gaped at Goku’s power.

“Don’t do any more bad things!” Goku said with a smile. “Nimbus!” He called out as the magical cloud zoomed over to him and he hopped on. The three defeated people could only watch in terror and surprise as Goku vanished over the horizon a second later.

-Baba’s Palace-

“Goku’s back!” Kale cheered as she saw Nimbus flying in low.

“That was quick.” Roshi noticed that Goku had only been gone for less than a half hour. “Maybe the ones that had the Dragon Ball were kind people?” It would be best to get the last Dragon Ball without needing to resort to violence, after all.

Caulifla smiled as she looked at the rapidly approaching Goku and then at Launch. “Looks like it’s time.”

Launch watched Goku fly in on the Nimbus and responded without even looking at Caulifla. “Yeah…guess so.”

The Nimbus stopped near Launch and Goku beamed at her as he hopped off and presented the last Dragon Ball to her. “I got it, Launch!”

“Thanks, Goku.” Launch smiled at him, pulling Goku into a hug.

“You’re welcome.” Goku smiled as he hugged Launch back.

Kale walked over with the other six Dragon Balls that Goku had left with them for safekeeping. “Are you ready, Launch?” She asked as all seven Dragon Balls began to glow and pulse with light as they were gathered together.

Caulifla looked at the Dragon Balls and then at Launch. “Guess we’re about to see this dragon then.” She gave Launch a grin, one meant to encourage her friend.

“I’ve not seen this before, myself.” Baba said as she once more sat upon her floating crystal ball.

“Neither have I.” Roshi admitted as he watched Goku and Kale set the seven Dragon Balls on the floor.

Everyone else backed away, leaving Launch standing next to the glowing balls with the words fresh in her mind. With a deep breath and a long, slow exhale to calm her nerves, Launch spread her arms wide and called forth Shenron. “Come forth, Dragon! Grant me this wish!”

The Dragon Balls glowed with intense light before a bolt of lightning rose up from them as the sky darkened, becoming as black as night. The beam of energy wound and bent through the air, twisting around like a serpent over and over again. The golden energy slowly solidified into an immense shape of green scales, four limbs tipped with claws, two brown antlers on the head, jaws filled with fangs, pure red eyes, and two long, flowing whiskers coming from the muzzle.

Shenron, the Dragon God, had answered the summons.

“Holy shit, he’s huge!” Caulifla cried out, having to crane her neck all the way back to even see the height of Shenron.

Kale was also craning her head up to try and see the entirety of the Dragon God. “It’s amazing…”

“He’s just as awesome as last time!” Goku declared with a big smile.

Roshi’s eyes widened behind his sunglasses at the immense form of the dragon as it wound through the air, making its total length nearly impossible to judge. “My word… So, that’s the Dragon God, eh?”

Baba looked up at Shenron in quiet respect, the sacred dragon exuding a power that most could feel, but wouldn’t understand.

REFLECT UPON YOUR DESIRES, MORTALS.” Shenron’s voice was the same as the last time that Goku had heard it, both like thunder and yet equally as soft as a breeze. The strange duality that shouldn’t be possible, but existed because of the Dragon God. “FOR I SHALL GRANT ANY WISH…BUT ONLY ONE…

Launch stared up at Shenron while the dragon’s red eyes focused upon her. She’d gone over the wish in her head, as had her other self, dozens and dozens of times. All she had to do was make the wish properly and they could both have what they’d always wanted. “I wish…that the two versions of me had our own bodies, mine a Saiyan and the other me a human!”

Shenron heard the wish and saw into the heart of the one that made it. “SO BE IT.” Shenron’s red eyes glowed and Launch felt something fill her entire being.

Launch’s body was suddenly nothing more than a silhouette of golden light. The shine was so intense that everyone had to cover their eyes from it lest they be blinded. Even Roshi was wincing behind his sunglasses. The golden silhouette then pulled apart in opposite directions, making two golden silhouettes. The light faded from the one on the right and Launch (blue-haired) dropped to her knees, her eyes blinking in surprise as she looked up at Shenron.

For Launch (blonde), however, everything now felt like it was too loud, too bright, and too smelly! Her mind was having trouble keeping with all of the new sensory information coming in! She felt like she was suddenly too big for her own skin! Her entire body was on fire! Her head felt like it was stuffed with thick cotton…. She barely noticed when she lost her hearing. Then her sense of smell disappeared. Her sight faded to black a second later. The last thing Launch felt before she passed out was an intense pain right where her tail bone was.

YOUR WISH HAS BEEN GRANTED.” Shenron declared as the blonde Launch fell to the tiled floor unconscious. “FARE YOU WELL.” With that the Dragon God turned into pure golden energy and the Dragon Balls floated high up into the air.

“The Four-Star Ball is…” Goku looked at the glowing spheres closely, even as the glow stung his eyes. “…that one!” In less than the time it took to blink, the seven orbs blasted away from each other and flew across the sky like shooting stars in every direction…except for the one that Goku grabbed. “WHOOOAAAA!!!” He yelled out as he was carried through the sky from the force of the Dragon Ball’s flight. “Nimbus!”

The magical, golden cloud raced after Goku and quickly caught him, back first, in its fluffy embrace, stopping Goku’s flight.

“I got it!” Goku beamed at the perfectly spherical stone in his hand. “Grampa’s Dragon Ball!” He flew back towards the others with a smile as he pocketed the stone that was the Four-Star Ball. As soon as he landed, he rushed over to the two Launch’s. “Are you two okay?!”

The blue-haired Launch smiled warmly at Goku as she held her…sister(?)…and nodded. “She’s fine, just asleep.”

Kale knelt next to the sisters and looked the blonde Launch over. “She’s definitely a Saiyan now.”

“Yep! You don’t have a tail like that without being a Saiyan.” Caulifla agreed as they saw the brown-furred monkey tail that the Saiyan Launch now had.

“If I hadn’t seen Bulma’s tail before, I would’ve expected it to be blonde.” Roshi mentioned as he and Baba looked at the, now two, Launch’s.

Goku shrugged, just happy that his friends were okay and that the wish had worked as they’d wanted it to. “All Saiyan tails have brown fur, not sure why, but that’s what I know.”

“We’re all supposed to have black hair too.” Kale mentioned, almost absently.

Caulifla waved it off without a care. “Then Bulma and Launch will both bring some color to us.” Whether it would take, or remain after a generation, was beyond any of their thoughts or concern.

“Good of Shenron to make sure both of you were clothed still.” Baba mentioned of the identical outfits that both of the Launch sisters were now wearing. “Otherwise this horndog here wouldn’t be able to control himself.” She shot a pointed look at Roshi.

“Hey! I’m a respectable man; I’ll have you know!” Roshi shouted at his sister.

Baba gave him a flat look. “No. You’re not.”

Roshi growled at Baba. “I’m not some scum that would take advantage of a woman!”

“No, but it wouldn’t stop you from looking, you lech!” Baba shouted right back.

“Nnn… Shut up…” Launch grumbled as she opened her eyes halfway. “Too loud…” She said, only to be pulled into a hug by her other self, Kale, Caulifla, and Goku. “Huh?”

“You’re awake!” The still human Launch smiled brightly at her new sister. “The wish worked perfectly!”

Caulifla grinned at the blonde Launch. “You’re a Saiyan now!”

Kale gently squeezed the Saiyan Launch with a smile. “We have a lot to teach you!”

Launch flicked her new tail…then took a second to process that new sensation. “Well…glad it worked out.” She said with a smile spreading across her face. Looking at Goku, green eyes meeting black, she grinned. “Am I prettier now?”

“You were always pretty, Launch.” Goku’s simple and honest answer made Launch smile.

“Come here.” She leaned in and captured Goku’s lips with her own for a kiss.

Goku’s tail swayed behind him as he returned the kiss. “Heh!” He smiled brightly at Launch when their lips separated. “That was nice!”

Launch let out a short chuckle before she closed her eyes. “I’mma go back to sleep now.” She was out like a light a second later, resting in her new sister’s arms.

“We can both live our lives how we want now…sis.” The blue-haired Launch whispered and left a soft kiss on the blonde Launch’s forehead as she held her.

Now, with the wish complete, the second quest for the Dragon Balls over, and two Launch’s to take back with them, it was time for the group to leave Baba’s palace and head home.

Wish granted!

Blue-haired Launch and Blonde Launch have been separated! Both new sisters can live their lives how they want now without having to worry about a single sneeze making them essentially ‘blackout’ for hours or days.

A properly worded wish sees Blue-haired Launch remaining human, while Blonde Launch becomes a Saiyan!

Gaming the system! Two wishes in one! Kek!

Goku made short work of the dum-dums of the Pilaf group since he’s not as much of a dope thanks to Bulma teaching him stuff throughout the story (and the lack of a head injury allowing him to retain a bit of Saiyan ruthlessness doesn’t hurt either). You’d hope that Pilaf and his two lackeys would take the Dodonpa warning to heart…but that’s doubtful.

Now that Blonde Launch is a Saiyan and Bulma is apparently closing in on snatching the flask of water from Korin, what will be the routine for everyone for the next two and a half years until the 22nd Tenka’ichi Budokai?

Keep reading to find out!

Blue Launch will be single for now, might do something with her romantically a bit later. Glad you've enjoyed the story so much! If Volet ever makes a reappearance, it'll be more of a cameo type of thing, most likely.

Kairomaru

Love this story~!! Read all the chapters in a couple days. I am curious tho, is Human Launch into Goku or is she going to being single for now. Also wondering if we'll see Violet again. Can't wait for more chapters.

Nuka Man

Glad you liked it enough to binge read it! Look forward to the next update!

Kairomaru

Read this story over the last two days, really enjoyed it so far

MogulTheSly

Kek! That's on you, my friend! Glad you enjoyed the chapter and that it was a good spot to end for your binge read! lol

Kairomaru

I'm gonna be real with you - totally missed (or subconsciously ignored) some of your earlier descriptions, and have been picturing Bulma with a blue tail this whole read. Feel like everything I know has been a lie.. great chapter though, and a surprisingly good cut off point to end a binge read. Nice.

DarthGhengis

What happened to it in the canon manga? I'll need to look that up to make a decision on how I'm gonna handle that.

Kairomaru

What happened to Goku's spaceship? I think Bulma would love to take it apart for study.

Aaron Gurrola

I literally just updated this! There are other stories that need to be worked on too!

Kairomaru

When's the next chapter coming out? This story is too good to not write

Nick K

Even in the main canon timeline in Super, she's STILL loyal to Pilaf... lol

Kairomaru

Mai had some potential for good later on in the main timeline, so hopefully she realizes sticking with Pilaf is bad for her health.

Rosy Bramble

We all know Pilaf is too stubborn to ever stop trying to get his wish.

Kairomaru

You're welcome! Happy you liked it! Yes, Saiyan Launch is going to want to get stronger!

Kairomaru

Thanks for the chapter! I am happy for the Launches, though I wonder if Saiyan!Launch will want to train and get stronger too.

Rodrigus

Bye-bye wannabe emperor Goku even gave him a friendly warning to behave or else via dodon does that mean King piccolo won't have his time in the Sun or will he take his chances thinking "King piccolo's got this". Also what a great chapter
