Chapter 85 – The Artificer’s Legacy
The wedding of Harry Potter to Nymphadora Tonks, Penelope Clearwater, and Fleur Delacour was one of the most newsworthy events of the year after the world had mostly settled into its new magical paradigm.
Potter Manor in summer was filled with greenery and flowers everywhere and the entirety of the ‘Potter Lands’ was open to their guests to enjoy. Sirius and Marlie were honored guests, along with their first child: one James Remus Black. Named for Sirius’s closest friends throughout his life.
Remus had been overcome with emotion upon first meeting the baby and learning the name that Sirius and Marlie had chosen. The werewolf had needed a long moment to compose himself and stem the happy tears from his eyes.
This had, of course, led to some playful ribbing from Sirius about what Moony’s students would say if they saw their professor crying like that. The two old friends had both been over the moon and Marlie, proving once again why she was a perfect match for Sirius, joked that she’d be naming their next child after her family line. Needless to say, Sirius had been thrilled about making their family larger and was hopeful for a girl next time. Remus’s snarky remark about being wrapped around any future daughter’s finger from day one was met with laughter and a light elbow to the side from Sirius.
A gentle breeze kept the temperature pleasant for the guests as the ceremony was about to begin. In attendance were all of the closest people to the Potter Family: Sirius, Marlie, Remus, Edward and Diane Clearwater, Marius and Appoline Delacour, Ted and Andromeda Tonks, Drasurd, Drad, Hermione, Luna, Mandy, Padma, Neville, and a few other friends from Harry, Penny, and Tonks’s Hogwarts years, along with quite a few of the Professors as well, like McGonagall, Hagrid, Flitwick, Sprout, and Dumbledore. Along with those closest to the Potters, several others had been invited as well, like Amelia and Susan Bones, the Weasley family, Lorenzo Trevisan, Suzuki Tōshū and, shocking everyone, Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel were in attendance as well.
Though to some surprise, especially Harry’s, the Dursleys had accepted the invite and were sitting in the front row as well. Vernon looked slightly uncomfortable seeing all of the witches and wizards, but the man was clearly trying his best to admire both the natural and the magical decorations. Next to Vernon was Petunia, who looked slightly in awe of the magic all around. And next to Petunia was a little girl, only about eight years old. This was Harry’s younger cousin that he’d only met today: Violet Dursley.
Harry stood at the altar with a smile that couldn’t be removed. With him was Sirius, as best man, Remus and Drad as groomsmen, and Dudley had agreed to be a groomsman for his cousin and stood next to Remus and Drad, which Harry had never expected, even if they had been friendly enough growing up. But today was all about his love for his three fiancés and the four of them starting their lives together…officially.
As the music began, everyone stood up and looked down the aisle, watching as Tonks was walked down by Ted first.
“Wotcher, Harry.” Tonks beamed from behind her veil at Harry when her father handed her off to her fiancé. Her dress was a traditional white (Andromeda wouldn’t let her daughter break THAT tradition at the very least) even if Tonks joked that after everything the four of them had gotten up to, she could realistically wear black. It was clearly magical as it almost looked like motes of light were rising off the shimmering cloth as the sunlight fell upon it.
“Wotcher, Nym.” Harry said with a warm chuckle.
Ted and Harry shared a look for a moment before both men nodded to each other and Ted walked over to his seat next to Andromeda.
Penny and Edward walked down the aisle next. The white dress hugging Penny’s figure barely hid the slight bump on her stomach. The shimmering and flowing cloth appeared to dance with the slight breeze, and the shiny gemstones here and there dazzled as they occasionally refracted the light across Penny’s dress to reveal the full pattern that the intricate gemstones made along the dress.
Penny beamed at Harry as her father gently released her arm and she stood across from Harry. “I’m… I’m so happy right now, Harry.” Penny said, a little choked up both from her emotions and the hormones from her pregnancy.
“That’s a good thing, Penny.” Harry chuckled softly as he took her hands in his.
Edward’s eyes were like steel as he and Harry shared an unspoken conversation. A promise between men passed between the two wizards that Penny would only know love, joy, and care from Harry.
Once Edward reached his seat next to his wife, Diane, it was time for the final bride to walk down the aisle.
Fleur and Marius walked down the aisle arm-in-arm. The ethereal beauty that was Fleur looked even more resplendent today than usual as the sunlight seemed to dance along her dress and her skin; her long silvery-blonde hair nearly shining as well as if the light of day was blessing her while she walked towards her soon-to-be husband. If one were to watch her dress they’d notice the feather-like pattern hidden among the cloth, the feathers of silvery-blue only showing up for a second before disappearing as Fleur moved. A display of her pride in her Veela heritage that many of her cousins and aunts in attendance had caught and smiled at.
“Harry.” Marius nodded to Harry, the unspoken words in the father’s gaze got a firm nod from Harry. Marius smiled slightly as he released Fleur’s arm and watched his eldest daughter take Harry’s hand. He walked towards his wife and Gabrielle, the edges of his eyes misting slightly, happy for the love and happiness that his little flower had found.
Fleur gave Harry a loving smile, filled with warmth that made the summer sun seem cool in comparison. “Harry…mon amour…” Her words didn’t seem to want to come out but Harry understood what she wanted to say.
“Me too, Fleur.” Harry smiled lovingly at Fleur, making her own smile brighten even more, if that was possible.
The three brides stood next to each other and across from Harry as the ceremony began. A slight change to the normal ceremony, to account for the three wives and one husband, along with the vows, was no issue as the foursome promised themselves to each other and only each other until death did they part. When the time to place the wedding bands on each other’s fingers came, Hary smiled as he placed an individual golden-colored ring on each of his wives’ left ring finger, pairing them to their Artifact Engagement Rings. The way the two rings lightly glowed in a rainbow-like aura for a moment dazzled Tonks, Fleur, and Penny as they watched. They’d definitely have to ask Harry just what these wedding rings did in combination with their engagement rings. In return, however, Tonks, Fleur, and Penny got to put a single equally golden ring on Harry’s left ring finger. Having been the one to make it, Harry had compressed Tonks, Penny, and Fleur’s magic into solid magic and bound the material into the form of a ring with Adamantite so that it could never be broken. The rainbow-like glow around his paired engagement ring and wedding band made it clear that Harry hadn’t left himself out of having a set of Artifact Rings either. As Harry kissed each of his brides, all of the guests stood up, applauding, cheering, and the letting off the occasional spell to conjure and fling flowers into the air.
The reception was filled with great cheer and much laughter as Harry and his wives cut the large cake that had been made for their wedding. As was Marauder tradition, Harry found his face covered in cake as Tonks, Fleur, and Penny all smashed a small piece into their husband’s face. The prank was completed when Harry realized that he couldn’t return he cake to the face as all three of his brides had impervious charms protecting their makeup and therefore their entire faces.
“Cheating…” Harry playfully pouted at his wives with cake still on his face.
“It’s perfectly normal for a witch to use an impervious charm on her makeup during her wedding, Harrikins!” Tonks said with a smug grin on her face.
“Absolutely, it’s not like we planned this out or anything.” Penny giggled brightly, clearly having helped planned this prank.
Fleur kissed Harry’s cake-covered cheek with a beautiful laugh. “It looks good on you, Harry~” She licked the cake and frosting from her lips in a way that could ONLY be sexual as she gave her husband and sister-wives a smoldering look of desire.
“Down girl.” Tonks laughed at Fleur’s sex drive only increasing after becoming pregnant.
Harry enjoyed the reception with his wives, family, and friends…even though Drasurd, Drad, and Sirius were all clearly trying to get him drunk. The tossing of the three bouquets was quite a sight as a truly large number of women gathered together, hoping to catch one. In the end, Luna had caught one, making the short blonde laugh and cheer that she’d be finding her special someone next. Another had been caught by Susan, who had shot a look towards her left, but no one could be sure which of the people she’d looked at given the crowd. The third and final bouquet had been caught by one of Fleur’s cousins, the Veela witch beaming as she looked directly at her boyfriend that she’d brought along, the French wizard laughing brightly as he was nearly tackled by his eager girlfriend.
Once the celebration had finally wound down, well into the night with many a wand shooting fireworks high into the air, the guests had slowly left and the newlyweds were left to enjoy their first night as husband and wives.
It was obvious that not much sleep would be had that night. Even pregnant, Fleur’s sex drive had only increased, and Penny was similar…when she wasn’t tired. Tonks, the one that had only recently found out about her own pregnancy, her baby bump still small enough not to be obvious, was as randy as ever as she eagerly pushed Harry upstairs towards the master bedroom.
-A Year Later-
The giggling laughter of little babies was heard in Potter Manor as Harry played with his first three children. All three were lying back in a soft, padded swing that Harry was gently pushing backwards every time that it swung forward. His children, two girls and one boy, giggled and babbled at their father as they slowly swung back and forth.
“Who’re the cutest little ones in the world?” Harry babbled right back to his children, under the amused gazes of his wives. The answering babbles made the four parents smile. “Is it you, Lily?” Harry asked his eldest daughter as he lightly tickled her bare feet as the swing swung forward.
“Babbaa!” Lily giggled back at her papa.
Lily Diane Potter, named after both of her grandmothers, had dark blonde hair that looked almost brunette in the right light. It was a bit naturally messy, as was most Potter hair, but had been partially tamed by Penny’s mostly straight hair. She was the apple of her grandparent’s eyes and was already being spoiled by Edward and Diane whenever they babysat her.
“Is it you, Victoire?” Harry asked playfully, tickling his Veela daughter’s little feet as the swing swung forward again.
“Ababmble!” Victoire Aimée Potter’s happy babble was adorable and never failed to illicit as coo from those that heard it. The silvery-blonde hair that all Veela possessed was looking to be something of a mix between her parents in terms of messy or straight, but it hadn’t grown long enough yet to be sure. The normally blue eyes of the Veela, however, had been overtaken by Harry’s green, giving Victoire enchanting emerald eyes that would no doubt capture the hearts of others when she was older.
“Or is it you, Theo?” Harry asked his son with a silly face which made the youngest of the three smile and flail his little arms about in the swing.
“Amamabllle…” Theodore ‘Teddy’ Sirius Potter babbled before yawning, movement making him sleepy as it was close to naptime. He had the dark hair of his father…when it suited him. Teddy had inherited his mother’s Metamorphmagus abilities, much to Tonks’s absolute joy, and randomly changed the color of his hair, eyes, and sometimes his skin throughout the day. Both Ted and Sirius had been near tears when they’d first met the little boy after Tonks had given birth, never having expected Tonks to name her first child after her own father and her goofy cousin.
Little one-year-old James had been both confused and amazed when he’d met his cousins for the first time, saying the small words he knew like ‘Little’, ‘Baby’, and ‘Mine’…which had all of the adults chuckling. It was a good sign that the cousins would all get along as they grew up.
As the three babies nodded off while being slowly swung back and forth, Fleur, Penny, and Tonks stood up from the couch to pick up their children and hold them gently.
“Naptime.” Penny cooed softly to Lily, gently rocking her daughter in her arms.
Fleur gently ran her fingertip across Victoire’s cute little chubby cheek with a loving smile. “Dodo, mon ange.” She whispered to her daughter, speaking French to her daughter often, along with English, as all of the Potter children would grow up bilingual.
“Let’s get you to your crib, Teddy.” Tonks softly kissed her son’s forehead as she held him close.
Harry could only smile, his heart warm as it overflowed with love for his family, while he followed after his wives towards the nursery.
-Ministry of Magic ~ London ~ Three Months Later-
“You want me to…what?” Harry asked the witch and wizard sitting across from him.
The witch, older than Harry, but clearly of the same generation, spoke up first. “Just as it says in our request, Master Artificer Potter, we’d like you to help us deal with the abuse of multiple Artifacts being used by one of the ‘Cabal’ as they’ve come to be called.”
“Yes, we’ve found that his name is Warrick Dale, but that’s all we really know about him.” The wizard said as he motioned to the second parchment that they’d handed Harry showing a moving picture of a shady-looking wizard with semi-long black hair and pretty average facial features. “In the last year, with so many people trying to hunt down members of this cabal that enacted ‘The Crisis’, many people have died, both those seeking revenge and members of this cabal alike. However, Warrick has been observed using Artifacts of significant power to slaughter anyone and everyone that comes after him.”
“I see.” Harry looked at the picture again and wondered just where this man had gotten multiple Artifacts from. “But why do you think I could handle him, exactly? I’m not an Auror, that’s my wife, Nym.”
“The Aurors that have gone after him…haven’t been capable of taking him into custody.” The witch said with a visible wince, hinting that more than a few of the Aurors hadn’t returned from trying to arrest Warrick Dale.
The wizard let out a heavy breath. “We also believe that he’s going to try and exacerbate the tension with the anti-magic fortress city called Haven.”
“Who?” Harry asked, only having kept on news here and there between his various projects and spending time with his family.
“Haven is one of the groups that blame ‘The Crisis’ on magic and magic users without distinction. They hate magic, witches, wizards, magical creatures, enchanted objects, everything to do with magic. They built up and fortified a semi-large city and protect it with lethal force: traps, firearms, explosives, any kind of weapon that’s not magical, really.” The witch explained to Harry concisely. “As you can imagine, Warrick, who was one of the cabal that caused ‘The Crisis’, hates those of Haven just as much for their hatred of magic. Even with people hunting him, he seems to be heading in the direction of Haven.”
“It’ll be a slaughter of non-magical people if Warrick gets there and I think you understand just how tenuous the balance is with the other anti-magic groups in the world already are.” The wizard said seriously. “The Aurors were initially sent to stop Warrick, to prevent him from attacking Haven and making the situation with every other anti-magic group into an all out war. But he killed officers of the law and is now wanted by every member nation of the ICW.”
Harry sighed as he took in the information. “So, he’s a magical terrorist that hates the non-magical because some of them blame the cabal he was part of for what they actually did?” That was honestly stupid…unless Warrick had hated the non-magical even before the cabal had caused ‘The Crisis’. “But, again, why come to me? I’m a Master Artificer, yes, but I’m not an Auror. I have no legal jurisdiction to arrest anyone. If you just want me to identify the Artifacts he’s in possession of, I might be able to do that.”
“Let us be frank, Master Artificer Potter.” The witch said as she placed a black envelope on the table between them. The red wax holding it closed bore the seal of the ICW and, to Harry’s sharp senses, was filled with mana. “We need an expert in Artifacts, with powerful Artifacts of their own, to eliminate Warrick Dale before he commits an act of terrorism that could set off a war between those that reject magic entirely and the rest of the world.”
The fact that the rest of the world would win…and probably rather easily…didn’t detract from the fact that hundreds of thousands of people would die for no other reason than one person’s hate of the non-magical.
“In the envelope is the bounty you’ll receive if you accept and complete this request from the ICW.” The wizard said gruffly.
Harry’s green gaze narrowed on the two and the air felt let it suddenly became charged. “I’m not an assassin nor a hitman. I don’t kill people for money.”
“We understand that, Master Artificer Potter, but this needs to be done and we can’t keep sending people to die.” The witch said as her shoulders sagged.
The wizard rubbed her back consolingly. “One of the parchments within the envelope is a legal exemption for eliminating Warrick Dale. As long as you accept this task, which won’t be recorded anywhere, you can never be charged with a crime relating to Warrick Dale’s death.”
“Hah…” Harry exhaled heavily, seeing the tension and hopelessness in the witch and wizard before him. “I have no desire to kill this man.” He saw the two in front of him sag just a bit more. “However, after I talk with my wives, I do believe that I can remove his Artifacts from the situation and restrain him for the actual Aurors to take into custody.”
The witch and wizard both shot upright, nearly knocking their chairs over in the process. “You could?!”
Harry raised an eyebrow at their outburst and both the wizard and witch seemed to understand the commotion they’d made as they quickly sat down again. “I’m not an arms dealer, nor am I an assassin. However, I do know Artifacts and how they’re used; so I’ll make use of my knowledge to disarm and disable and then let the Aurors handle everything else.” He chuckled briefly. “Provided that my wives agree, of course.”
“Thank you for your consideration, Master Artificer Potter.” The wizard and witch both bowed to Harry.
-Two Days Later-
Harry sat on a small boulder in a wide grass plain far from just about anywhere. Tonks, Fleur, and Penny had all discussed this request from the ICW with him for the better part of a day after he’d brought the black envelope to them after his meeting with the witch and wizard that had summoned him to the Ministry of Magic. With some reluctance (A LOT of reluctance) his wives had agreed that he was the best in the world -quite literally- to deal with Warrick Dale.
That didn’t mean that they were letting him go in without their support though.
Tonks was part of the Auror team that would be locking down the area where Warrick and Harry would be meeting. Penny and Fleur were in the nearest town to the area that Warrick was being forced to head by his pursuers, the two scholars would come to Harry and Tonks’s aid if anything went wrong.
While this ‘mission’ was happening, Lily, Victoire, and Teddy were with their extended family, enjoying time with their cousin and grandparents.
Harry heard the telltale crack of Apparation a handful of seconds before he felt the powerful Anti-Apparation Ward go up around the area. ‘If we’d had more time, we could’ve made this entire area into an Anti-Magic Area and dealt with this easier.’ The only flaw of Penny’s invention was the time that it took to set up, making it nearly unusable in live combat situations.
“Son of a bitch…” A gruff and angry voice said and Harry turned to look, seeing Warrick Dale in the flesh for the first time. “Who the hell are you? An Auror?”
“Nope.” Harry said simply, still sitting on the boulder, seemingly without a care. He pushed a tiny bit of mana into his glasses to activate their Scouter function and quickly had a reading of Warrick’s mana.
57,864
Warrick’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Harry closer. “Wait… I know you. You’re the Master Artificer.”
Harry nodded, still not showing any signs of aggression. “That’s me.” He glanced at the visible Artifacts on Warrick’s body, two gauntlets on his hands, a mantle around his body, the belt around his waist, and the silver circlet resting on his head. ‘The gauntlets and belt are Minor Artifacts. The circlet is a Median Grade, as is the mantle. Where is the powerful Artifact that was mentioned?’
“So, the ICW got you to be their attack dog, huh?” Warrick accused with a look of disgust. “So many people love using the magic that we brought back, but want us all dead for doing what had to be done to save it!” He raised his right hand and practically aimed the gauntlet at Harry. “Get out of my way, Artificer! I’m going to truly finish the work and get rid of these hateful, ungrateful non-magical filth!”
“You’re problems aren’t mine.” Harry finally stood up, his feet touching the ground. “But in a showdown of Artifacts, you know you’ll lose, right?”
Warrick’s eyes glanced at the sword on Harry’s hip, noting that it clearly had mana within it, meaning it was definitely an Artifact despite its rather plain appearance. “You’re another wizard born and raised using Foci, in a real battle of magic, I’m the superior.”
Harry pushed his vast mana reserves outwards, the grass around him flattening out as a force similar to a strong wind spread throughout the plain. “Do you still think that?”
Warrick moved his left foot and Harry felt the ground beneath him shift. A spike of stone rocketed straight up from the ground where Harry had been standing. The spike fell apart into sand and rushed at Warrick in a wave, looing to engulf him. It exploded into inert grains before being vanished.
Harry and Warrick stared each other down after the brief back and forth of spells.
“You’re a bit better than the average witch or wizard, I see.” Warrick admitted as he reassessed Harry. With a snap of air a roaring conflagration of Fiendfyre was conjured and sent at Harry.
The roaring cursed fire slammed into the invisible wall of Harry’s mana and willpower as he took hold of the Fiendfyre and began to wrestle it from Warrick’s control. As the flames were torn between two powerful wizards they flared and shrank over and over again. With a mental lunge, bolstered by his unique form of Occlumency, Harry smothered the Fiendfyre with his will and snuffed it out entirely.
The ground rumbled as Warrick lifted both his hands and practically flipped half the plain in the single motion. The area where Harry was exploded outwards in a shower of dirt and rock while the rest of the land slammed back down loudly. A barrage of dozens of spells of various colors, looking almost like a rainbow from a distance, converged on Harry from every direction. As they got within three meters of the Master Artificer they slammed into what looked like circuit lines in the air. The spells followed the lines around in a sphere, escaping straight up into the sky to fizzle out or firing straight into the ground and kicking up more dirt and stone as they exploded.
“What kind of shield charm is that?!” Warrick asked himself as he saw all of his spells, many of which shouldn’t have been blockable, be tossed up or down by Harry’s spell. When the strange shield charm disappeared, Warrick’s eyes widened as Harry had disappeared too. “Where?” The circlet on his head glowed faintly and Warrick looked around in confusion. “Gone?”
He moved just in time to avoid a massive crackling stunning spell from hitting his back.
Harry grimaced as his missed spell exploded against the ground and the wind kicked up blew his Invisibility Cloak off his head, revealing his location. “So, that circlet lets you find people hidden by magic, right?”
“Why couldn’t it find you?!” Warrick demanded as he looked at the shimmering invisibility cloak. “This Artifact isn’t fooled by invisibility cloaks!”
“Don’t worry about it.” Harry waved it off as he’d now deduced the ability of one of Warrick’s Artifacts. “Let’s take those off of you.” He reached out with a powerful summoning charm, only for it to fail as it reached Warrick.
Warrick moved quickly, faster than a person should be able to, in fact, as he made distance between himself and Harry. “These are mine! You have your own!”
Harry examined what had just happened and quickly deduced the ability of the mantle Artifact. “So the mantle blocks spells…and improves your movement?” He didn’t see any Artifacts on Warrick’s feet to make him faster, but then his eyes went back to the belt around Warrick’s waist. “Ah, I see, it’s the belt that makes you faster. Interesting.”
Warrick didn’t seem to like how quickly Harry was figuring out his Artifacts and lashed his left gauntlet in a wide arc in front of him. “Fuck off!”
Harry raised his left arm and a sharp ‘clang’ rang out as he let out a small grunt. “Slashing curse?” He asked as his Spell Ward Bracer had stopped the unseen attack. “Gauntlets can technically be used to strengthen a punch…but their main purpose is protecting the hands. Form and function are linked in Artifice.” If the gauntlets had been made with the purpose of offense in mind, that function went against their form and was probably why they were only Minor Artifacts.
“How many can you block with that bracer?!” Warrick threw a punch with the right gauntlet even despite the distance between him and Harry.
Harry smacked aside the unseen force rocketing towards him, his Spell Ward scattering the magical attack. “More than enough if that’s all the power they can produce.”
Warrick was on the move now, practically gliding around the plain while launching attacks at Harry from a distance. Harry didn’t just sit still and take it, kicking off the ground with his Wind Walkers on his feet and flying after Warrick while dodging his barrage of attacks. Harry, noticing that Warrick was clearly heading for the edge of the Anti-Apparation Ward while trying to keep him at bay, reached out with his mana and suffused the ground with it.
“What the hell?!” Warrick yelled out as his enhanced speed took him halfway up the massive wall that had suddenly risen up from the ground. The wall then fell down like a book being dropped on a bug, looking to crush Warrick. Having no choice, Warrick had to launch himself backwards as fast as his Artifact could manage.
BOOM
The wall slamming into the ground shook the plain and Warrick nearly stumbled as he continued to retreat, keeping track of Harry with the circlet Artifact on his head.
Until he suddenly couldn’t.
“Shit!” Warrick changed direction instantly, grunting in pain at the vicious shift of a nearly ninety-degree turn done in a split-second.
His change of direction saved him from a lashing metal chain that tore up part of the ground.
The chain snaking after him freaked Warrick out as he kept trying to avoid it.
“What the hell is this thing?!” Warrick yelled out only to throw himself to the side to avoid a hail of various spells, several of which he couldn’t identify immediately and wasn’t sure if his mantle Artifact could block, only to feel the chain snake up his leg and torso before wrapping around him tightly. Only grabbing it with his gauntlet-covered hands allowed him to stop it from tying his arms to his sides.
Harry appeared directly in front of Warrick, reaching out to grab the older man, and Warrick shot backwards while trying to conjure a blast of fire to burn Harry.
But while he did move back at significant speed…there wasn’t even a wisp of fire to be seen.
“What?!” Warrick still had plenty of mana, he could feel it! “Why can’t I use my magic?!”
Harry was following after Warrick with his Wind Walkers letting him fly over the ground. “Mana Bane chain.” He pointed at the chain wrapped around Warrick’s torso. “Those wrapped in one can’t use magic.”
Warrick nearly spit in anger at having his magic sealed, for a wizard that prided himself on being a wizard, it was the greatest of insults. “You fucker!” He swiped both gauntlets through the air and Harry had to roll to the side in midair to avoid the two slashing curses. “I can still use my Artifacts!”
“Yes, you can.” Harry agreed as he threw more spells at Warrick, stunners, stinging hexes, blasting curses, slashing curses; all sorts of spells to test the defense provided by the mantle Artifact.
Warrick, still practically gliding across the plain, which was rather torn up now, snuck his hands into his mantle before whipping around to face Harry. A staff of gleaming metal flashed through the air before the head was pointed straight at Harry.
BOOM
A blast like a massive cannon went off and Harry went flying backwards before crashing into the ground. Warrick stopped fleeing and caught his breath a bit as he kept the metal staff pointed in Harry’s direction. “Didn’t see that coming, did you, bastard?”
‘That’s definitely Greater Grade.’ Harry thought to himself as he floated back to his feet almost entirely unharmed. “Mokeskin pouches hidden under your mantle, huh?”
“How’re you okay…?’ Warrick’s eyes widened in surprise. “There’s no way those bracers could block this Artifact.”
Harry briefly moved the invisibility cloak aside to reveal his Basilisk Scale Mail Artifact. “Artifact versus Artifact, my defense is stronger than your attack. But it’s made from a thousand-year-old Basilisk, so that shouldn’t be a surprise, right? Nice shield, by the way.”
Indeed, in Warrick’s left hand was an oddly shiny bronze-colored shield with intricate designs across the face of it. To Harry’s experienced eyes, he recognized the design as hiding circuit lines. The amount of mana that Harry could sense in the shield also made it likely that it was an upper Median Grade or a low Greater Grade.
“I don’t have time to keep playing around with you, Artificer!” Warrick said loudly as he held the gleaming metal staff upwards and began to wave it, the head of the staff, an intricate design that looked like three pairs of wings wrapped around each other, two smaller pair of the wings wrapped around the larger pair that were spread wide, began to hum as the wind picked up. “This is the Staff of Storms!”
The wind began to whip around fiercely, howling and wailing as Harry grunted while the wild winds buffeted him. The winds twisted into tornadoes quickly, pulling in the loose dirt and rock, turning the wind a thick grayish brown as the speed continued to increase. With a motion of the staff, one of the tornadoes sped towards Harry.
“That’s not good.” Harry muttered to himself as he reached deep into the ground with his mana and heaved.
The earth cracked so loudly it could be heard over the screaming winds of the multiple tornadoes. A small mountain appeared on the previous plain and was slammed into by the tornado. The fierce winds began to tear apart the soil and rock, scattering them about.
“You’ve only delayed the inevitable!” Warrick yelled, though Harry couldn’t hear him. “The Staff of Storms is the pinnacle of Artifice!”
-Outside of the Plain-
“What is happening?!” One of the many Aurors helping to maintain the powerful Anti-Apparation wards yelled out in panic as massive tornadoes rapidly formed.
“I didn’t even know this was possible with magic!” Another Auror yelled back, unable to pull her eyes away from the sight in front of her.
Tonks grimaced at seeing the power of the Artifacts that Warrick had somehow acquired. “Shit… If Hary goes all out he can stop this…but the effects of doing that…”
Fleur and Penny touched down close by and quickly ran to Tonks.
“Penny! Fleur!” Tonks beamed at her sister-wives.
“What’s going on?” Penny and Fleur asked at the same time.
Tonks motioned to the tornados tearing apart the small mountain. “Apparently this is one of the Artifacts that Warrick Dale stole from somewhere.”
“We have a problem! The tornadoes are spreading!” Another Auror yelled out as the massive towers of wind and debris began to move outwards towards the edge of the plain where the Aurors were.
“That bastard is trying to take out all of us at the same time!” A different Auror, this one with a noticeably thick accent, yelled out to be heard over the howling winds.
Fleur looked at Tonks and Penny. “We could form a triangle shield to contain this, right?”
Penny looked at her paired Artifact Engagement Ring and Artifact Wedding Ring. “We can! If we contain this then Harry doesn’t have to worry about using his Artifacts.”
“Let’s go!” Tonks didn’t bother wasting time filling the other Aurors in. They didn’t have the time with how fast the tornadoes were approaching.
In just a moment, both Fleur and Penny flew off and streaked through the air almost as fast as a top of the line racing broom. In mere seconds, the two were at equal distances from Tonks’s location to for, an equilateral triangle.
The paired Artifact Rings glowed brightly on the hands of Harry’s wives as they pushed their hands forward against the howling winds and the debris that was starting to reach the edges of the Anti-Apparation ward. A nearly invisible line of mana appeared linking Tonks’s rings to Penny’s and then another nearly invisible line of mana connected Penny’s rings to Fleur’s, finally Fleur’s paired Artifact Rings sent another line of mana to connect with Tonks’s rings.
All of the Aurors supporting the Anti-Apparation ward could only stare as what appeared to be circuit lines rapidly spread out from the almost invisible lines of mana. As the lines branched off each other, rising higher and higher into the air, a second barrier formed outside of them, blocking the wind and the debris from escaping.
In only a moment, what had been an approaching natural cataclysm was reduced to merely a safe display of insanely powerful magic produced by an Artifact as the tornadoes slammed into the triangle barrier and failed to pass it at all. The massive towers of wind actually slowed in speed and began to shrink slightly, though none of the Aurors outside could really tell. The circuit line shield was redirecting the mana within the tornadoes up and away from everyone safely.
-Harry and Warrick-
“Well now…” Harry said to himself in the screaming winds as he saw the barrier going up. “Looks like Penny, Fleur, and Tonks had to step in.” He took hold of the sword on his hip. “But if they’ve put up a barrier, then I can end this now.” He drew his newest Artifact Sword against a person for the first time.
The sword was double-edged and looked very similar to a medieval longsword. However, the blade wasn’t the color of steel, but had a luster similar to polished silver. If one looked closely, they’d notice the metal also had faint hint of black to it that was unnatural to any known metal, magical or non-magical. The guard was simple enough, but was made of an almost black metal, this one without luster at all. The handle was wrapped in dragonhide, Hebridean Black dragonhide to be specific, and beneath the dragonhide was polished and shaped dragon bone, also from the same Hebridean Black that Harry had conquered. The pommel was a red stone encased in more of the black, lusterless metal.
The sheer amount of mana radiating from the sword as it responded to its creator’s mana was enough to even make Warrick snap out of his power trip.
The tornadoes parted just enough for Warrick to actually see what Harry was holding and his eyes widened at the rather simple-looking Artifact Sword. “Wh-What is that?!”
The fact that Harry heard him at all was a testament to how loud Warrick’s demand was. “I’ve taken to calling it Gladius Draconis, myself.” He said as he held the sword pointed at Warrick. “All the power of a full-grown dragon, plus all of the mana that I could impart to it during forging, all amplified by symbolic reuniting of multiple parts of the dragon’s body.” With a simple swing, and not even a proper one, the tornado closest to Harry was split in two and dispersed in rapidly swirling gales that disappeared into the remaining tornadoes.
“That’s…im-impossible!” Warrick nearly choked on his words at seeing what a mild swing of Harry’s Artifact Sword could do. “The Staff of Storms is the highest form of Artifice!” He thrust the staff towards Aharry and a blast of wind tore up the ground between them in a split-second.
Only to be sliced in half by Harry merely holding his sword between himself and the incoming wind.
“Make sure that you defend.” Harry cautioned Warrick as he prepared Gladius Draconis for a proper swing.
Warrick placed the bronze shield in front of him instantly and swung the Staff of Storms around to send all of the tornadoes straight at Harry.
Harry swung his Artifact Sword in a wide arc, as if he was bisecting an imaginary opponent that was right in front of him.
Warrick didn’t hear or see anything before he was hit. The tornadoes he’d sent at Harry vanished in an instant. His Artifact shield was hit and held up for all of a moment before it began to crumbled away into tiny fragments. The Staff of Storms shattered under the onslaught of force that had been unleashed. It was only as Warrick himself flying through the air, his other Artifacts shattering from his person and feeling like he was being crushed by an immense weight, did he see the sky.
‘Impossible…’ Warrick thought to himself as his vision began to go dark.
The sky above was racing.
All of the Aurors looked upwards, mouths agape, as they watched clouds race across the sky at such speeds that they quickly dispersed completely. The barrier that Tonks, Penny, and Fleur had created wasn’t breached. It wasn’t reacting at all, in fact. The force of Harry’s Artifact had been unleashed exactly as its master had willed it to be.
As the Aurors outside the barrier watched on in stunned silence, the sky continued to zoom past them for a time, before it finally slowed down.
Harry stood over the unconscious Warrick, sheathing Gladius Draconis as he waited for the barrier to drop and the Aurors to come pick up the man. “I guess I should thank you. I don’t know when I would’ve really gotten to test my Artifact if not for you.” The barrier began to fall and Harry remembered something that Warrick had said a short time ago. “Oh, right, for future reference, that Staff of Storms was a Greater Grade Artifact…but that’s only middle of the ranking for Artifacts. There’s still High Grade and Legendary Artifacts above that.”
Warrick couldn’t hear him, do to being unconscious, but Harry had said his piece.
It wasn’t long before the terrorist known as Warrick Dale was arrested and taken away, most likely he’d be executed or sent to the worst prison that could be found for the rest of his life, but that wasn’t Harry’s decision to make, nor did he want to. Instead, he kissed his wives and the four of them left the scene after being cleared by the Auror in-charge of the operation. The way the man had glanced at the sword on Harry’s hip while fast-tracking the Potters off the site was slightly amusing though.
The payment that the ICW sent to Harry only a few days later went straight into savings to be used for their children and the family as a whole later on.
-Epilogue-
Master Artificer Harry Potter smiled at his child while standing outside his smithy. He’d grown visibly older now, sporting a five o’ clock shadow and slightly longer hair that he occasionally kept tied back, usually while he was working. He was dressed in a long, brown coat that went down to just past his knees, under that he wore a simple t-shirt, his pants were dark grey and held up with a somewhat thick belt, and the shoes on his feet looked like a cross between trainers and boots. He wore a chain necklace, had a large metal bangle on each wrist, seven rings, one on each finger aside from the left ring finger where his engagement ring and wedding band rested, and he had a few small metal charms hanging from his belt as well.
“Dad! Why did this sword you made for me break?” His youngest daughter, Grace, asked him as she held up the broken blade. “I won the tournament with it, but I thought Artifacts didn’t break?”
“Hahaha…” Harry couldn’t help but laugh as he gently patted his daughter’s head. “Sweety, it can take months to plan and then create an Artifact.” He took the broken sword from her and looked at the two pieces. “I hammered this thing out in an afternoon.” He tossed both pieces into a barrel filled with other broken metal.
“What?! But everyone at the tournament said it was one of the best swords there!” Grace exclaimed in shock, looking up at her dad in amazement.
Harry laughed at that, having become a rather jovial father after so many children.
Grace was his youngest daughter, his and Tonks’s third child. Her older brothers Teddy and Oliver were both Metamorphmagi, as was Grace, something that Tonks was STILL inordinately proud of herself for to this day, and all three regularly changed their hair and eye colors, and even lengthened and shortened their hair at will to match their moods.
He and Fleur had four children together. Victoire was their oldest, of course, then came Domonique just two years later, and then the twins: Sophie and Chloé. All four were Veela, just like their mother. All of his daughters were cute growing up and both Victoire and Domonique had become beautiful young women that turned heads even if they weren’t doing anything in particular.
Penny and Harry had three children as well with Lily being the oldest of all the children, born only a month and a half before Victoire. After Lily, Penny had given birth to her first son: Edward, named after her father, which had made the happy grandpa hug his daughter right there in her maternity bed. Their third child was another son, a rather inquisitive boy that clearly took after his mother that they’d named Henry.
“Dad! You’re back here, right?” Teddy called out as he came around the side of the house.
“Right here, Theo!” Harry waved to his oldest son with a grin.
“Oliver! Hurry up or I’m starting without you!” Teddy yelled back the way he’d come from.
Oliver, currently sporting nearly golden hair and electric blue eyes, came jogging around the corner. “I’m ready!”
“Is it that time already?” Tonks asked as she came out to the stone patio through the double French doors.
“I want to see!” Sophie called out loudly, rushing outside
“Me too!” Chloé called out, following right after her twin.
The two Veela girls were always eager to see these ‘matches’ between their dad and their brothers.
Penny walked out with a smile on her face, seeing their children happy and smiling. “If you wait just a moment, everyone will come watch.”
Lily smiled at her mother and took one of the lounge chairs for herself. “I can always make time to watch Oliver and Teddy lose to dad.” She laughed while Teddy and Oliver let out twin calls of ‘Oi!’ at their oldest sister. Lily merely flipped her dark blonde hair with exaggerated motions to tease her little brothers that she wasn’t listening to their complaints.
“Come on, everyone.” Fleur called out into the house as she walked outside with Victoire and Domonique following after her, both of the older Veela girls just as stunning as their mother, but with mesmerizing green eyes that they’d gotten from their father.
“Don’t start before I get there!” Sirius called out, making a show of taking a seat on one of the lounge chairs to watch. His daughter, Olivia, following after him and sitting in the chair next to his. Even after becoming a teenager, there was no separating Olivia from her papa…she was a daddy’s girl through and through.
Marley took the seat on Sirius’s other side with a bright laughter. “I’m sure they’d never do such a thing to you, darling.” Which got chuckles out of most of the family.
Grace ran onto the stone patio and quickly took a seat on Tonks’s lap with a smile, still young enough to enjoy cuddling up with her mother. “Do you think they’ll win today, mum?”
“Not sure, Teddy and Oliver have definitely improved though.” Tonks smiled at her youngest and playfully tickled her tummy, making Grace squirm and giggle.
Teddy held up his right hand, pointing his palm at his dad. His left hand stayed just above his waist, the silver ring on his middle finger gleaming in the sunlight with a magical hue. “This time we’re gonna show you that our creations are better that ever!”
Oliver grinned as he topped the nearly black metal bracelet on his right wrist. “We came prepared today! All of our skills went into making these!”
“Wait for me!” Henry came charging out of the back doors with a book under his arm.
“I found him in the library studying again.” Edward shook his head at his little brother. “He didn’t even know what time it was.”
Penny giggled at her scholarly son and how good of a big brother Edward was for fetching him without being told. “It’s good to study.”
Edward looked at his mother with a flat expression. “Not when you don’t even know how long you’ve been in the library.”
Penny laughed beautifully at that. “Well, there should be limits, I suppose.”
“Well, now that everyone’s here.” Harry touched one of the metal charms hanging from his belt, looking vaguely like a pawn chess piece with a knight’s helmet on top. “I guess we can get started.”
Everyone in the family knew that every single thing Harry was wearing, barring his t-shirt, was ana Artifact. Even the coat, pants and shoes! With access to soldi magic, Harry’s Artifice had far exceeded what any other Artificer in history had accomplished. Even a Legendary Artifact had been achieved when Harry had finally…after a couple of years…allowed Gladius Draconis to be examined and graded. The sword was tied to the Potter bloodline, had intent-based wards woven into its creation so that it couldn’t be misused, and had so much power (about 180,000 innate mana) that altering the landscape with a swing wasn’t even difficult.
“Let’s win this round, Oliver!” Teddy called out to his brother.
“Hell yeah, Ted!” Oliver yelled back.
“Language!” Tonks, Fleur, and Penny all said at the same time.
“Sorry, mum!” Oliver called back instantly.
Harry laughed brightly. “Beat this guy first, then we’ll see if I have to get involved.” He unclipped the metal pawn-like charm from his belt and tossed it forward. In a glow and the shifting and growing of metal, a golem that looked like a simplified knight (almost like how a child would draw a knight) stood before Oliver and Teddy. The golem looked at its two opponents without a word before charging at them with its hands ready to grab both boys and force them to the ground.
“Not today!” Oliver’s black bracelet glowed before straightening out and becoming a black staff that he hit the charging golem with, pushing it backwards to stop its charge.
“We’re not losing to your ‘Pawn Golem’ again, dad!” Teddy declared as he waved his right hand to levitate the golem into the air before the ring on his left hand glowed and the golem was slammed into the ground so hard that it embedded in the dirt. “Got ya!”
Harry could only smile proudly at his boys…all of his children, really. They made him so proud! After so many years as an Artificer, getting to pass along the secrets he’d discovered to his children made his heart swell with love and joy. They were all growing by leaps and bounds as well, even his children that didn’t want to be Artificers had still learned from him just to share the family time and the love their father had for Artifice.
‘No matter how many Artifacts I make… My children, my family…they’re my true legacy. One of love that will continue to be passed down generation after generation.’ Harry thought to himself as his two sons came at him.
The ‘match’ would go on for a while, even if Harry could end it instantly. But despite knowing that, everyone enjoyed the spectacle and the family time together.
The Potter Family had a legacy of Artificers.
But the Artificer’s Legacy that Harry would leave behind was a large and loving family filled with knowledge, happiness, and all of the truly important things in life.

And so we finally come to the end of this tale!
I hope everyone liked the happy ending for Harry and Family!
All of the warm and fuzzy!
The ‘one last fight’ in this chapter was to show that Harry had truly reached the pinnacle of Artifice with his third Artifact Sword! Amazing what the zenith of any Branch of Magic can do, right? In Alchemy it creates the Philosopher’s Stone! In Artifice it creates a Legendary Artifact that can alter the land with merely the user’s desire!
Imagine what else Harry still hasn’t gotten around to yet at your leisure! Lol
While some people may be saddened by the end of this story, you need not worry, as my other Harry Potter story: Arch Mage, the Path of Magic, is still ongoing!
My greatest hope it that everyone that read this story from start to finish has enjoyed it and that you’ll remember it fondly…maybe even reread it occasionally! Heh!
Now let’s see just how powerful Harry and his girls were in the epilogue!
Final Mana Levels
Harry – 162,154
Tonks – 80,290
Penelope – 68,556
Fleur – 68,788
If you enjoyed this chapter, or this story as a whole, please let me know with a nice review!

2025-06-15 15:55:54 +0000 UTCDespite loving the story, I can't help feeling disappointed that this is how the story came to an end. You punted the board over giving us a world where the two sides have no choice but to reintegrate shortly followed by the use of a magical defibrillator on a planetary scale. I was eager for a deeper dive into the meat of a world in turmoil and conflict from these two massive events. All that conflict and uncertainty mixed with human stupidity was a recipe for an arc of struggling to bring things back to some semblance of what was before. Exploring the role of magic and need of under-represented magical skills like Harry's enchanting and artificing, and spellcraft seemed like it would have a bigger part to play. Looking at it as a whole it would have been better to have a clear division between the two acts of the story with Voldemort and Harry finding his feet in his abilities happens, and the foreshadowed events happening and Harry plays his role in the irrevocably changed world. You had everything there to make something bigger and better out of the second half. Despite seeing where things could be different and feeling disappointed it wasn't as good as I thought it could have been, I'm going to do my best to ignore it just so I don't sour my memories of enjoying reading it. You made something which stands out among the mountains of rehashed concepts, tropes, and cliches. I treasure stories like these a lot because how memorable and intriguing they can be.

2025-05-21 16:20:40 +0000 UTCLike a few of the other people I saw commenting, I became a patron to read the latest few chapters, and while I'm disappointed that it's ending I'm not disappointed with how it ended, this story had me completely hooked from start to finish, I'll probably reread at some point in the future, and I will almost certainly try reading some of your other stories (as soon as I can decide which one to start next lol).

2025-05-19 23:19:05 +0000 UTCThank you, happy you enjoyed it! Yes, it's always sad to see a story you enjoy come to an end, but as long as it was a fun tale to follow, it was worth reading. Arch Mage will continue and hopefully keep the HP loving Patrons satisfied for a long time! lol

2025-05-19 18:29:48 +0000 UTCWell done and I must say I'll miss reading new updates of it but like you mentioned there's still archmage. Thank you for the effort!

2025-05-19 18:22:32 +0000 UTCHappy you love the story! You can use the 'Pawn Knight' golem if you want. I basically 'borrowed' it from the manga/anime Märchen Awakens Romance (MÄR) and their ÄRM magical items. Thank you for the compliment and I'll keep doing my best for all of my Patrons and fans!

2025-05-18 17:17:02 +0000 UTCGlad you enjoyed the story! Harry and his wives certainly grew over time, didn't they? lol Yeah, different perspectives on the 'Great Change'/'The Crisis' mean that no one is technically in the right no matter which side of the argument they're on. I'm glad that there are people on both sides from my writing! It feels like a true accomplishment as a writer, you know?

2025-05-18 17:12:56 +0000 UTCLove the story, little annoyed about the Pawn knight, I was going to use that in one of my stories, so now I think i will have to change it slightly. But just signed up to say 'Great work my friend, looking forward to your other stories.'

2025-05-18 06:56:11 +0000 UTCMan, this was a wild ride. Seems like just the other day Harry was having trouble just touching Dourfrost. The only thing I'm iffy on was everyone attacking "the Cabal" for literally saving the planet. Sure they caused devastation with their actions, but they literally had no way of foreseeing what happened. It just left a kinda bitter feeling, but maybe that's because I wasn't personally affected and know that their actions was for the benefit of the world as a whole and not for selfishness.
