The next one will likely not have a holiday theme. As for where it will take place, I have an idea but it might be alienating, so I'm toying with other ideas.

2026-01-10 18:32:09 +0000 UTCSo far, Veleno and the Callahans had their own adventures. Where will you go from here, who will be the star(s), and will the next one also have a holiday theme?

While I used references, had a vision for it, and am quite happy with the final design, it was all one design. In this game, I had to make a larger variety of locations, each with different goals and visions. My favorite in terms of this is the VHS store where I looked at a lot of references, iterated on the interior a decent amount, and came out with alsmot exactly what I had envisioned in my head. I would also say that my ability to implement complex events has improved quite a bit. If you pop open a lot of the characters, you will find a hugle mess of if/thens to check for what they know, if you're gagged, if you triggered a thing, etc. I would have never been able to do that or do it quickly back when I started. I also got better at plotting points of variance, set locations or events that change strongly based on the route.

2026-01-10 16:22:53 +0000 UTCWhen I started development, I knew I wanted 4 routes, but didn't have a solid idea of what they would all be. Around that time, I stumbled on a vampire themed song that I really liked and was inspired to draw the Sr Investors. That ended up being an anchor for one of the routes. The two workers/bat I made fairly fast using Ryan, Abby, and one of the Oaksville town member's bases. At the time, they were supposed to be it, before the scope of the game grew. The vapire route wouldn't have been much different than the main route in terms of locations and what happens. Those two vampires would replace Dani and Heather, the Investors would show up and talk about printing the car, etc. Once I decided that I wanted each route to feel more different, I ran into some trouble with the vampire route, that being that Rachel is not a proactive character. A friend jokingly suggested using the teacher, based on Corey Feldman, as a vampire hunter (reference to Lost Boys). Tis gave me someone who would pull the plot forward and then the route fell into place from there. The black furred zombies came into being because I wanted a more menacing enemy type.
