One ongoing story series I greatly recommend to readers can be found on SoFurry: "None So Vile" by DingoNoir, an erotic enemies-to-lovers flintlock fantasy set in a fictional continent called Midland.
The best way I can describe it is if DingoNoir wrote a furry fantasy version of the Napoleonic Wars with Napoleon (a jaguar named Leon) becoming bitter enemies and eventually lovers with Rasputin (a white dragon named Alabaster) while both try to survive revolutionary upheaval in France (or Rennaire) while the Catholic Church (the Church of the One God) tries to keep the peace across Midland by giving out Angels, haloed anthros with extraordinary abilities and yet little control over them and active glee in committing mass murder when summoned. Think Homelander from "The Boys", then put a halo on his head while making him controlled by a religious order. Then multiply him by at least a dozen.
What I love the most about "None So Vile" is how much it is influenced from history but stands on its own with creative liberties that enhance the experience. Leon and Alabaster are fully believable as characters with unique personalities. The world is immersive and yet so familiar. The moralities of revolutions, tyranny, beliefs, and the double-edged blade of ambition are explored to their fullest extents. The erotic sex is also great without distracting from the plot, which goes in directions you can predict, but then can surprise when you least expect it. Chapter 26 was just posted today, and I cannot tell you how much you need to read it. DingoNoir is such a talented writer with great plot, characters, and writing. <3 Go read it if you can! :)
