Map of the Lyra System

Say hello to the futuristic cyberpunk setting for Twilight City, my novel-in-progress at the moment and the setting for my short story "Neon Bruises".

This is a map of the Lyra System, a fictional solar system approximately thirty lightyears from Earth, and it has a late main sequence star referred to as Lyra I (or Lyra Prime) with three exoplanets currently orbiting around it. The first planet is a terrestrial body called Hades, with an orbit much closer to its star than Mercury is to our Sun and is therefore uninhabitable. However, the same cannot be said for the second planet referred to as Persephone. Persephone is unique in that it's a tidally locked exoplanet. This means that one side is always given sunlight while the other does not. Between extreme hot and extreme cold exist a habitable Goldilocks zone along the Prime Meridian where the temperature and atmosphere is tolerable for humans and animalistically-coded persons alike. And on one stretch of land is a colony that's slowly transformed into a sprawling metropolis on this exoplanet, where the sky is always twilight.

As you can imagine, people have called this metropolis 'Twilight City', and that is where my future novel is going to take place in. Without giving away too much, it is a massive cyberpunk city that is filled with corruption, crime, as well as different neighborhoods where humans are required to genetically splice themselves with animals (they're called 'ani-coded') in order to survive the extreme climate on either side of the city. The colony city's greatest export is in rare minerals, mined metals, and the construction of spaceships.

Lastly, there is Demeter. Much like Jupiter and Saturn, it's a gas giant that happens to be green due to the high concentrations of methane and ammonia in the atmosphere. These gases are heavily mined for exporting off-world.

There is also the Lyra Threshold Station, a large wormhole gateway in the shape of a cube with six independent portals capable of teleporting to different colonized solar systems between Persephone and Sol.
