2024 Year in Review
Added 2024-12-29 18:38:08 +0000 UTCWhat a year, huh? What a year.
In all seriousness though, it's not been too bad for me. I just started working for my new job in late November of the previous year, so I spent most of the earlier part of the year making sure I kept it. So, I didn't do much other than some Writing Group Challenges and a few small stories. In terms of big events, I got to go to Pittsburgh for Anthrocon, where I got to visit amazing booths and meet fantastic people. I hope to return next year, as well as attend Midwest Furfest in Chicago too.
A few that come to mind are the following:
"The Town of Second Chances", an erotic post-apocalyptic story that led to me creating what I've come to dub as my 'Second Chances universe'. Not only do I love the characters (especially Donovan and the black cat triplets!), but I absolutely love the themes I've been able to explore. Most stories focus on the gritty brutality and survival aspect of living in a post-apocalyptic setting, but I loved how my Second Chances stories explore themes about thriving in these places as well as the liberty and new freedoms found after the collapse of society.
And how it comes with many cons as well as pros too, which I also explored in "Weight of the World's Voices", which explored how the rich and powerful could act like brutal kings in a post-apocalyptic world.
There's also "Binary Love", a solidly written sci-fi story about a pair of tiger brothers discovering the truth behind their relationship, and how they're not actually brothers in the traditional sense. I'm trying not to say any spoilers. It'll make sense when you read it, trust me. Overall, I might write a sequel story that expands on its themes further and go deeper into the science fiction element than I did in the original story.
My favorite story written in 2024 has to be "Neon Bruises", which is a standalone prequel to a novel I'm currently writing. It's a queer furry cyberpunk story about a badass transgender she-wolf living on a cyberpunk exoplanet in the far future. Not only is Toby Earhart very fun to write, but the setting gripped me so much that I've been currently working on a new novel for either next year or the next. Keep an eye out for anything related to the title "Twilight City", will you? ;P
Overall, 2024 has been productive, but it's been a bit transitionary for me, which isn't bad on its own. 2025 is going to have its challenges, definitely, but I'm looking forward to some of my new upcoming stories and projects planned in the works. Your support has been amazing and constantly motivates me to work harder and pour more blood, sweat, and tears into these stories. I don't just write for myself, but for you too. Your comments brighten up my day and your encouragement is inspiring. On some days, I feel like your words and feedback can motivate me enough to write a whole novel in one single night. Haha, if only that were the case. Then I'd write even more books than Stephen King.
I'm not going to sugarcoat it. I know that things seem bleak and plenty of people aren't looking forward to 2025. However, while I won't pretend that 2025 is going to be a great year, at the very least, I plan to make it a productive one.
Until then, I wish you all a Happy New Year! Have a free digital hug from me! hug
