What's your most vivid childhood memory?
Added 2024-06-15 00:05:18 +0000 UTCChildhood is such a weird thing. On the one hand, it feels so different from adulthood that some of it feels more like a dream than things that actually happened. On the other hand, our memories of childhood shape who we are as people.
If I needed to pick one vivid childhood memory, it would have to be biking around my neighborhood, which stood between the countryside and the suburban blocks near the inner city. I remember spending some summers biking all the way from my house to a mall three or four miles away, then biking all the way back for dinner. To this day, I still remember the stores and how maze-like this mall was, before it got closed down.

2024-06-16 04:30:06 +0000 UTCMine is a rather sad one. My father had walked out on our family but the courts said he had to keep contact with the children. He did this by taking them out on trips. I was about 3 then, and he came to take my two older sisters out for a trip, and ofcourse - me being only a child was delighted that 'Daddy' came to visit. I so wanted to go with them. My sisters had already gone through the front door and I rant to go after them, abd my father pushed me back.. hard.. and made it very clear that I was not wanted - in any sense. I can still see myself there and the utter devastation at that fact. I realise now that that act had shadowed me through my life and involved some very bad choices in money i.e. Investing money in the business that I worked with to assist the Boss (Daddy?) - and then lost the monies..
