Test Build Alpha v.0.1.15
Added 2022-05-10 02:37:42 +0000 UTCHello hello everyone,
and welcome back to Targa Florio!
I hope you and your family are all in good health. Don't forget to drink enough water and exercise! (something that I keep reminding myself lol)
First of all, the important announcement;
Our friend Beni is currently on his way to Sicily right this moment. He's gonna be there from 12th to 17th to gather even more data around the targa florio.
And that, include scanning the entire track. That's right gents, we are scanning targa florio.
We've been preparing for this for quite some time. Now that the situation ease a bit, we're finally able to do this.
Hats off to Beni who've been relentlessly putting massive efforts toward this. You're already a Legend! :D
Although it won't be the standard laser scan used by professional companies, but the result he was able to achieve is no joke. Here's a sample of that:

And so, if you guys probably living around Palermo, and you want to help or just wanting to meet up and say hi, come on over and hook us up on discord !
Especially if you have a drone that is capable of doing photogrammetry, that would be awesome! Although to be honest, we don't know about the license needed if we want to fly drones in that region.
So once again, between 12th and 17th, Beni will be there in Sicily.
And as for the track update,
here is the alpha build version 0.1.15
and the alternate config of you're having trouble loading the track because of train animation
mostly it's UV work for the doors and windows around Campofelice, and we added groove mesh (wip). it's not completed yet, only up to Caltavuturo for now.
That being said, it's not exactly grooves like we have in other tracks. From the pics we've seen, it's more like a slightly darker area along the racing line, with tyre marks here and there, especially on braking areas before tight corners.
the texture is still temporary. We're gonna need a few sets for different areas, transitions, etc.
We've also changed the base road texture, with slight dirt color on the edges.
Now, about the road itself. What we learn about the road surface is, usually before the Targa Florio event the Govt. of Palermo will inspect the road and fix them where necessary. That means instead of potholes and big cracks, we're only going to find patches of asphalt. Some sections got hot mixed entirely. for example, we are quite certain that the entire Collesano have new asphalt. The same probably applied for Cerda and Campofelice, but we are still confirming that.
Well that is that for now. :D
I hope you have a great week. Stay safe and healthy, and keep on racing!
Cheers!

With all the new CSP and Pure updates I'm now finally getting 90fps in VR with a full AI grid on Targa. It's practically the only track I now drive :) Try the honda s800 rsc there, that car was just made for this track.

2022-05-19 17:12:57 +0000 UTCThe circuit is getting more characterful each revision. I noticed a problem at 35 seconds with a semi-translucent road texture floating in the air above the track https://youtu.be/EYVTw8LmX9I. Keep up the good work

2022-05-13 20:19:08 +0000 UTCThe last two updates have really given the track a heartbeat. When such a long track loses its generic look with so many small details, it works like magic. And laser scan is amazing...

2022-05-10 04:27:06 +0000 UTCThat sounds awesome! I've notified my friend who lives there and is a big Targa fan, but he's pretty busy lately, so not sure if he'll be able to help in any way or meet.
2022-05-10 04:07:32 +0000 UTCStellar work as always and a big thanks to Beni for their work out in the field!
