Weekly Progress #23

Hello, hello!

how are you guys this week? I finally survived through one of the busiest month I had for the last couple of years! XD

And now I am literally back on track. I will focus on the buildings located at the entrance of cerda, before continuing on unique buildings along he road to collesano.

Yesterday I tried the 3dsMax 2017, and it was buggy as hell. well, specifically, it's the snap that was faulted. I used a lot of snapping whenever I'm making buildings, and the snap bug was really frustrating.

and another bug that annoyed me so much is the selection tools. it seems to work incorrectly if the scene we are working with is a huge scene. which is, for example, the targa florio. it make no sense to keep using this version when even selecting objects is a struggle, so I'm rolling back to 2014. I haven't tried the 2018 or the latest 2019, but I think i'm gonna stick to 2014 for now.

this week, there is a racing sim event here, held by the national motorsport association. Looks like they are finally acknowledged sim racing as a serious e-sport, and they are holding that event to register and scouting for potential e-sport athletes in the future.

I'm going there tomorrow to register as well, but to be honest I have zero expectation on competing in the big league hahaha. well, every race need a backmarker anyway right? XD

Anyway, I hope you all have a great week,

and until next time,

Cheers!

lol so 2014 is indeed the best version huh? I am the only who think that way here, so I though it was just me.

Autodesk is ridiculous, we have yearly subscriptions, but everybody uses 2014 as well.

(always forgot not to use the Enter button here...) I really like the new grass effect!

Glad to hear, you finished your big projects.

Glad to hear! As for 3Dsmax, we have licenses at the office, and it turns out... we sticked to 2014 after trying them "all". Mostly 2017, i decided to try while starting a new project, and like you said, on the modeling process it gets really annoying due to snapping and selecting issues. On the forum, they said that the service pack supposedly fixed these. Fun fact was, i already had the latest service pack... yet still this odd behaviors. Behaviors we used to have in max 2010 or before, ridiculous. Issue with 2018 or 2019 is the lack of compatibility with some plugins at the moment, and same selecting annoyance on big scenes. And also the fact that autodesk is adding more and more stuff rather than fixing the known flaws. Usual story. Long story short, 2014 for the win!
