Road Physical Mesh
Added 2018-11-11 08:07:11 +0000 UTCSome time ago, I had a feedback from one of our friend regarding the physical mesh is too smooth, or that it should be rougher. And I agree. I also feel it should be rougher that what we have now.
I need you opinion guys. there are 3 main parameter for the road bumps:
1. Bump heights.
2. Interval, how frequent the bump is
3. roughness, how sharp or smooth the bumps
currently, the setting is
heights 14cm
interval 68 (smaller means more frequent)
roughness 0.08 (higher is rougher)
I found that roughness higher than 0.1 will start rattled the wheel. So, what do you think? which parameter that you think need to be adjusted?
or maybe it's better if I make a few variants, so you can test it and compared them?
cheers

also, the road still need some adjustments, such as the cambers and crowns. and if we want to make variable bumps, we're gonna need to have the asphalt patches as well. this is going to be complicated hahaha

2018-11-13 05:29:04 +0000 UTCThanks for the input guys. yeah, I think I need to make a variants so that we can test it and compares them. but i'm sorry, it looks like we're gonna need to postpone the matters for now. Originally, I want to put a basic bumps and then added the details later, but after I think about it some more, maybe it's not the best way to do it, as putting layers on the bumps won't bring the best result, and technically risky because I can't revert it

2018-11-12 10:39:32 +0000 UTCYeah I agree its a bit too smooth and could do with some experimenting to get it right. What I was thinking though, in that clips on Youtube with Vice Elford in 1972 on board his Alfa. He points out their was new tar that had been laid on the road in some places and this adds a different element to your approach. The transition between these in certain sections would be interesting, if thats something that could be incorporated maybe?

2018-11-12 10:38:59 +0000 UTCHi, I drove Drazgose from SIMTRAXX which was a beautiful track, but for my opinion to much rattling on the wheel and there are some more nice track which unfortunately are to bumpy. We need to test the idea, but i think to much rattling doesn't make is realistic because it is not Paris Roubaix. Cheers Jürgen

Difficult to tell which parameters need to be tweaked, maybe it is really a good idea to create variants for testing. A constant rattling of the wheel would be too much, but higher bumps and more of them would feel more realistic, I think. Cheers Peter
