Mods and plug-ins!
Added 2024-10-09 15:00:09 +0000 UTCMod tools are still a long way off in Hex, but I created my own tools and interfaces to work on official plug-ins. These plug-ins will be managed by the game server so that I can remotely add content to the game. I hope to be able to use these plug-ins to do neat things like add timed events themed around things like holidays, in addition to adding more permanent content.
As I've been working on the game, I've been documenting the game's APIs alongside development, both for my own benefit and to support the eventual release of mod tools. The biggest stumbling block to mod tools is that I'd love to create some sort of interactive scene editor and player, and that will take a long time to create and implement.
