Regarding the web version: I have removed the higher res assets from the web and browser versions of the game. This was a quick and messy fix, so please let me know if any art assets appear to be missing. A better fix will come in the next release. Thank you for your understanding!
The Hex alpha demo has been released to patrons! Please don't hesitate to provide feedback! The game is in an early state and several features are missing or incomplete.
Please keep in mind the following things as you play:
- All game text should be considered non-final and is in an early draft state. Don't hesitate to mention typos and errors you see, though! Also note that some text has been ripped from Succubus Stories. This is placeholder text, as Hex is intended to have its own separate feel and tone.
- Some issues with bugs or crashes should be expected, though the game seems to be relatively stable from my testing.
- The following game content is non-final: background images, sex sound effects for footjobs and lesbian sex, the cut-in animation and sound effects associated with tidal attacks. Other things may also be subject to change, but the aforementioned are explicitly incomplete or placeholders.
- There are far fewer events, activities, and skits available here than the game will actually end up having in the areas presented.
- Right now, no one really reacts to your state of dress or filth outside of a few dedicated skits. This was a time constraint--I hope to make the world feel more reactive in the future.
- There's a relatively small number of skits (this game's equivalent to random and exploration events from Succubus Stories). This was also a time constraint, the intention is to make the game at minimum as varied and full of weird things you can do as Succubus Stories is today.
Some tips.
- You can streak/urinate/masturbate at night or in non-public outdoor places. Eventually if you do these activities a few times, you'll unlock the ability to streak publicly, urinate publicly, masturbate publicly, and even have public sex. Each of these options is unlocked slowly over time. This is really grindy right now just cause there's not a ton to do in the game. Remember you can hold the spacebar to skip through stuff.
- It is not possible to leave the Chapel nude yet, so don't try grinding for that. I have plans to make this more of a scene/event that unlocks it, and I'll patch it in sometime soon.
- You can unlock moves by just having sex. You unlock butt stuff with anal sex skill, foot stuff with footjob sex skill, etc. Also skill increases pleasure rates, and teasing bonuses, among other things.
- You can get lunar magic toward the end of the demo. If you want to try it out, explore in the forest to find bad guys.
- You can flirt with Meila if you masturbate in the Chapel.
- The Vesica and Avidus spells you get in the skill menu can be cast on random NPCs. Avidus lets you have public sex with an NPC without meeting the normal requirements.
- Press and hold shift to toggle hotkeys in most game screens, including combat, encounters, text mode, and even the game's menus. In VN mode, shift hides the textbox.
- In the app version, you have to leave fullscreen to quite the game. This is bad and will be fixed, but you can use the W key to quickly toggle fullscreen.
- If you encounter error messages, it may be possible to keep playing the game. The vast majority of error messages currently in the game seem to be related to audio. I just ran out of time to fix all of them.
What is planned for the future?
- Ten core encounter types are planned. Only five (the five you are familiar with from Succubus Stories) are present in this alpha demo.
- Six combat magic schools are planned, each with their own spells, auras, and passives to consider when making a character build.
- I have plans for dozens of different daggers and (eventually) accessories, too, all with unique effects designed for specific builds.
- Dozens of skills to purchase, including tons of sexy magic spells to use in and out of combat, along with impactful passive bonuses and effects.
- About two dozen potions and consumables are planned, and an item-use leveling system with unique passives similar to spell school ranks is also planned.
- Dozens and dozens of outfits for Iris, with maybe even more customization in the future! I may also make Meila customizable, but probably only after a certain point in the game's story which is far in the future.
- A toggle-able futanari form you can remain in even when outside of scenes and events is planned.
- Dozens of enemies are planned, along with several bosses, each with their own abilities and unique tidal attacks.
- Dungeon-like environments with puzzles and exploration (like the Ashlands and other dangerous areas from Succubus Stories). I hope to have one of these out in the next couple of weeks in an update to the alpha.
- More than 60 story quests are planned, with meaningful choices and consequences. Hex won't really have side quests, per se, instead I'm trying to make everything part of a single, non-linear, multi-faceted story. There will be six main plot threads--one associated with each school of magic, and you will be free to progress different parts of the story in whatever order you want, to a point.
- Tons of ways to annoy, mortify, seduce, and fluster Meila. And maybe even some ways to comfort her. And flirt with her, of course.
- I also have a ton of other plans and ideas! I'll reveal more as time goes on.
Known issues that I'm investigating.
- Sometimes sex sound effects double. One audio loop is meant to stop when the next starts playing, but it seems like in rare circumstances, the previous sound doesn't stop. This is usually fixed the next time a new sound is played. This is probably caused by a race condition somewhere in the game's scripting, but I can't find it.
- The game generates dozens of errors and warnings when the engine starts up because of the way UI elements are processed. This will be fixed in a future version of the game, but it's not a priority right now, and requires engine-level changes to resolve.
- The deflection animation is sometimes choppy or seems to skip the first few frames. The timing is always tied to the visual animation itself, so the interaction should still be possible to complete successfully, but this makes it way harder than intended when this happens. This is rare and seems to only happen on the first deflection in a given play session, and may not be fixable, but I will work on it.
- Sometimes the HP and MP bars appear in cutscenes or encounters when they aren't supposed to. I think I may have already fixed this, but I'm not completely sure; it was something I realized I might know how to fix at the last minute, so I didn't thoroughly test it.
- The windows app version of the game sometimes hangs and needs to be killed from the task manager. This is super rare, but it is unacceptable and needs to be fixed.
- Enemy AI is only supposed to use healing skills when health is below half, but a lot of times they'll use it when at full health, or as their first move. I don't know what causes this, but I'm investigating.
- There is a non-critical bug that appears rarely after encounters (maybe only anal encounters). You can close the error dialog and keep playing afterward without any apparent problems. This bug doesn't seem to have any effect on the game other than the error it produces. I am investigating what is causing this.
