Let's talk about the rest of the year.
Added 2020-10-27 10:00:00 +0000 UTCI'm planning ahead, and the end of the year seems like a good place to plan up to.
First the November update, coming soon, will close out chapter 1 of the game's story. About a month later will be the December update. Instead of diving right into chapter 2, I think the December update should instead be focused on adding side content and a few gameplay systems I've been sleeping on. I am a little nervous about an update with no real main story content, so there will probably be a little bit of chapter 2 in it, but not a lot. Regardless, chapter 2 won't get much content until the first update of 2021.
I say "the first update of 2021" instead of "the January update," because I'm probably (depending on COVID and a few other factors) going out of town for an extended period of time in December. Coupled with the holidays, I probably won't have much time in December. I'll have my laptop for emergency bug fixes and for staying in touch, but I doubt I'll be able to spend much time on the game. This means there probably won't be a January update. If there indeed isn't, I will not charge patrons for that month. I'll know for sure in early- or mid-December, and let you know then.
If there is no update, this means December will be an ideal time to work a bit on mod support and other engine-side stuff. I would rather not miss a monthly update, though, so we'll see. I'm also interested in your reactions; if you have strong feelings about me skipping a month, let me know. Sometimes a small update is better than nothing.
