State of the Webcomic: September 10, 2022

The situation: Things are still bleak here on the home front. While Riffraff and I struggle to get jobs and keep money coming in, we've had to unfortunately slow the projects "The Depths" and "Insignificant Otters" to a crawl. It's not been fair to Roy either, who has had to do more things outside of our own projects to make a living himself. We are also still catching up with him on what is owed. After the migration from Patreon last year that lost us half our support, we had to not only resort to paying him less per page, but less often. Obviously we couldn't ask him to keep doing that if he had bigger, more lucrative jobs to do. 

As far as we are aware right now, Roy is still on board and we're on very good terms.  So we still have our talented artist, thank goodness. We'll open a discussion with him whether or not we can deliver at least 2 pages of "Depths" this month.

The solution: We're aware so many people still support us and we are trying very hard to make things right. I'm in the process, (well actually, WE are in the process since RiffRaff is doing this too), of writing story commissions, which saved us more than once over the years. But obviously, it's not enough. Riff has accumulated a little nest-egg through cryptocurrency that we both feel very confident about, and I've applied to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History in Collections, which I would really love. (I happen to know someone in Admin there, we're childhood friends and she suggested I apply). Also, still waiting on legal administration in Wisconsin about a project we were supposed to be doing for a real estate investor in August which is now overdue. 

We're also resurrecting our reputation quite a bit lately by helping furry authors who come to us for some publishing/marketing assistance. Also one very special opportunity opened up recently we're extremely proud and excited about, being able to work with one of the most well-known and talented author teams in the fandom. We'll have more details on that as well.

Going forward: I know you're counting on us. The support you have given to us has meant a lot over the years, and we entirely understand if you feel you need to leave. We haven't been very fair to anyone, and we know it, and it makes us sick and upset just thinking about it. We love what we've done, and like any artist, we take a step back to admire the work, and see what else we can do with it. 

"The Depths" story does have an ending, at least in this segment; it's been written and is laid out and storyboarded already. "Insignificant Otters", well, thank goodness it's NOT a story, and we can just have a lot of fun with it making up funny scenes and jokes to tickle everyone. 

We recently had Tyrunner, a dear friend and supporter, come and stay with us a few days over Labor Day. We wanted to do so much with him here, but expenses kept us from doing anything more than being his chauffeur, his cooks, and his home companions. We'd also like to open our doors to others who are visiting our area and want to skip a hotel and stay with us. Ask him; we think he loved being here quite a lot. (and PROMISE, next time the house will be spotless and stairs will be finished!) *blush*

Anyway...that's all we have for this month. I hate being in the position of "wait and see" but that's kind of where we are right now. We'll leave it to our supporters to see if we're worth the wait anymore.
