We're still running a bit behind... *^^*
Added 2022-04-11 16:19:08 +0000 UTCOur situation is this: we are still trying to find a home before we get the heave-ho request from our landlord, and for two people who should be starting to enjoy their "sunsets", this is very distressing and depressing. Obviously, work is slower and we hadn't planned to fall too much further behind.
But Roy Wolverine, God bless him, still wants to keep updating and we do too. We need a bit of normalcy, after all, and webcomics are something we love that excite us and inspire us.
We have met with Roy and we plan two more pages of "The Depths" and "Insignificant Otters" in April. (We have to especially keep up with the otters, they just became the Top 20 list on Tapas for comedy!) There were plans underway to do a tribute to Ukraine, in which Kevin and Emma are holding up a huge Ukranian flag, while a discarded "Help" flag was in the sand nearby, a sort of "Help Ukraine" message, but we decided not to. Everything has gotten too political and our otters should stay in their world and not our own.
It is much safer there.
But the good news is, we have a house to move into and a friend who will either help us get a loan or offer a lease option for us. Everything really fell apart in late December, and, well, we didn't want everyone to worry.
You see, we had an amazing client, an author, whom we had been doing things for on her books and screenplays she wanted to do for the past five years. This past Christmas, Santa decided to be really rotten to her and gave her a broken back, landing her in the hospital to recover. She's in her 80s as it is, and this came as sort of a shock.
It also destroyed pretty much our only source of income. =( I took on some teaching classes and Riff played the stock market and we managed to keep things a little afloat. But it's not nearly enough. I don't want to lay out at everyone's feet like this, but it feels better if we let people know exactly what is going on.
We're on a quest now to raise approximately $5900 to cover that 5% downpayment for the approved loan I already have. If not, we're going to have to go with lease-to-own, save up the money somehow, and then try the loan again. But that means keeping our credit scores tip-top shape.
Strange. We never really expected to be struggling at our ages. But we are, and we need to accept it and figure out everything we can do about it.
We can't just give up. And we're not going to. ♥
We've had a LOT of instances where we thought, "Well, let's just give up."
Everyone thinks about it and some point or another.
The trick is to just think about it.
And then...get right back to work. *^^*

2022-04-14 20:25:13 +0000 UTCSrsly? I thought I was the only "old poop" in the bunch (I become a Beatles tune in August). :D Many hugs and well-wishes, always. Thanks for persevering and keeping us informed. I'd offer myself as a cheerleader, but I wouldn't want anyone to imagine me in a poodle skirt and pompoms. ♥
