"The Depths" February newsletter *^^*
Added 2019-02-15 21:00:35 +0000 UTC2019 has already started out to be a really good year for “The Depths”. A couple of statistic to report:
For the month ending December 31, 2018, “The Depths” reached 9,100 readers, a record (so far).
We have had over 100,000 page views since the site went public August 15th.
We partnered up with three very popular webcomics including “Rascals”, “Wukrii”, and “The Monster Under the Bed”. Together these three venues have brought in about 40% new readership.
Our plan is to continue partnering with other top furry and non-furry webcomics through this year. We also have a marketing plan scheduled for March, with brand new ad campaigns which we feel will attract more readers – and hopefully more support.
As expected, we lost significant support since the tiers structure changed down to a single $5.00 tier, but it’s okay. We have three new supporters and more will certainly come. As it stands, our Patreon balance right now is $531 so, because of the drop, “The Depths” will update three times per month. We’ve pointed out that our expenses for the web-comic are $150 per page, paid to Kino Jaggernov for all the incredible work done, so it’s really important that we get that support. This is why we urge all of our supporters to consider telling others about what we’re doing, sharing posts, writing journals, or reviews, and just basically help us draw more support.
Once the Patreon gets back to at least a $600 level, we can get back to weekly updates four times a month. “The Shallows” side comic will not be affected by the Patreon losses, so you can at least look forward to that still every month too. But it does put “Over the Side”, a new comic venture we were going to implement, on hold until the Patreon reaches above $600.
We’re not concerned with the new developments at all. We’ve already been approached by at least three individuals who plan to commit more than the $5.00 monthly donations, so we’re pretty hopeful we’ll be back above $600 in March. We’re also very excited about the ad campaign we are starting, which will reach hundreds of thousands of new potential readers. Even if we were to get a 1% commitment of $5.00 from that campaign, it’s more than enough to sustain “The Depths”, “Over the Side”, AND allow us to hire a professional pencil artist to work each week. So, wish us luck. <3
“The Depths” current story arc will likely continue on through March as we have a few more loose ends to tie up, and the ending should be memorable and make readers look forward to more. The next story arc, which will bring readers back to 1938, in Tahiti would then commence in May, after a month’s hiatus to work out and plan the next storyline. We would have honestly done this a lot sooner, but we found Kalea and Malana just too unforgettable, and it’s clearly obvious they need to be in the stories too. So that’s forced us to completely re-write everything – when we weren’t planning to.
But while “The Depths” is on that hiatus, Kino has promised to fill in the time with a surprise called “Wild Coast”, a short comic that’s been worked on the past year or so, and is based in “The Depths” universe. ^^
So, not all good news, we suppose, but not all bad either. We remain confident we have a stunning, amazing webcomic project here, and we hope you, our loyal supporters, will stick around for quite a while to see what happens next!
As we mentioned earlier, please consider telling others about “The Depths”. <3
Thank you, everyone! *^^*
