This is the calm before the storm.
There is a beautiful extended love-making scene in the next several pages. Hopefully, within them, you truly appreciate Leilani's sensuality and innocence as she becomes intimate for the first time in her life, and David's gentle, tender loving care with her. He will bring one stage of the girl's life to an end - and unfortunately in due time, a much more dangerous and deadly adventure to come.
I did mention this is the calm before the storm...

Well researched. ^^ Yes they are, the rarest pearls in the world. Leilani's tribe refers to them, of course, as "black oysters".
