Yeah I was so hype when I learned about Jerry Lawson as a kid! And Dr Mae Jemison was also inspired by Star Trek which I loved!

2025-01-30 19:28:11 +0000 UTCI grew up a video game nerd who wanted to be a fighter pilot. Jerry Lawson who basically invented the cartridge for video games was one of my idols. I actually wrote a letter to him and he replied! On the pilot/astronaut side it was Dr Mae Jemison. She was the first Black astronaut I ever remember seeing.

It is easy to place humans on a pedestal and the higher regard we hold them the further they fall when we inevitably learn details that are less than stellar. Loved hearing your thoughts about Tina Turner!! Time to go listen to her music right now. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Black heroes in my life... I have enjoyed reading W.E.B Du Bois's works. He was one of my first introductions to philosophy. In that same vein, Maria Stewart was an abolitionist I did a report on waaaay back in the day that truly informed my thoughts on women's rights.
