Mental Health - Vlog Nov '23

A fellow patron suggested this as a vlog topic so I decided to dive into my mental health journey lately. Thank you for being my patron and let me know if there are any other topics you'd like to see in a future vlog!

Hiya Sarah, Thanks for taking my suggestion. I appreciate your openness about things...there were times where I wanted to just come give you a hug and stuff...but of course theres a computer screen, and IDK if you like hugs so... Your talk really made me think about my growing up and dealing with alot of the mental health stuff Ive dealt with. I grew up being diagnosed with ADHD, and throughout school, through the various activities I did (band, theater) I never felt like i belonged either. I think part of it was because I was bullied, and because I didn't 'act black' so i was an easy target by other blacks at my school/church. Plus, i was very socially awkward. I do remember one time in HS between summer of Freshman and Sophomore year, I think i did start to deal with depression. I had nothing to do during the summer other than go to a church that I didn't like and I didn't have a choice in the matter. And of course my mom just brushed it off. When school started and I started driving, i started to do better cause...well I had things to do. Then in college i once again had a hard time fitting in, even after finding a church I liked. I did start to think that I was the problem with why others were treating me the way they did. I did go to counseling which helped me get tools to cope. But then after I left, I was diagnosed with anxiety...which is definitely something I know i have because i always have this perpetual state of "what if something goes wrong?" Then finally before the pandemic started, i was diagnosed with having autism. And that was hard for me...still is at times. I appreciate you being open about these things. And not only am I glad to be your patron, im glad that you do what you do. You've always given me a smile when I see your posts and when you stream. I hope that you realize that, and that you do make a difference. Hope your saturday is going well :)
