I feel for this mom so hard! My daughter was in a car accident with her grandfather when she was 12. I'll never forget the phone call! When I got to the site, they were cutting the roof off the top of the car to get her out and Life Flight was landing in a field. My dad went to one hospital with a bruised sternum and incredibly low blood pressure (he had a cardiac event, which caused the accident). My daughter went in the helicopter to a trauma hospital and there's no room for a parent in the copter. Long 25 minute drive to the hospital!! She had surgery to repair a broken hip (7 screws) from where the dashboard came in on her. And was out of the hospital on crutches in time to start 7th grade. BUT, I still have nightmares sometimes about how badly the whole thing could have gone. I'm not sure I would have survived losing her. I know my marriage wouldn't have.
