no i’m sorry i love Ben he is so damn petty😭 telling jack “oh i thought Kate would’ve picked you” like bitch worry about your tumor you don’t have time to be worrying about the dating patterns of Oceanic flight 815😭 also i do think like this season is where the writers and creators’ favorites come out. one of the writers who worked on this season of the show said it was really hard to just write cool stories because the creators really just didn’t like their characters of color. the writers were told that the shows “hero characters” were Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Locke. writers from the show recalls comments like “no one really cares about those characters just give them a few scenes on another beach” the actor who plays michael said a little bit into the shows run, it became clear to him he was “the black guy” and back in S2 when Walt got taken, that first episode’s flashbacks weren’t even about Walt and Michael! they were about Sawyer. Michael’s actor had to call the creators and be like “um hi could we maybe not have a stereotypical storyline of a black father not caring about his son? like can we add a few lines in about him looking for him anything” and then he said he got a revised script with the flashbacks about him and Walt with just two days to film compared to Sawyer’s two weeks. he was then told by the creators “well you said if we don’t have anything good for you you wanted to go” and he was fired. when he was just asking for like equal story time. according to another one of the writers, of the creators directly said “he called me racist, so i fired his ass” That same creator said something to the effect of “I want to hang him from the highest tree. God, if we could only cut his dick off and shove it down his throat” about Mr. Eko’s death, and the writer of the episode had to say like “you may want to temper the lynching imagery, lest you offend” —that writer was soon after fired as well. so yeah a lot of shitty stuff happened behind the scenes that unfortunately bled into the show but hey i’ll still enjoy the moments i can
