Tbh I think manslaughter is the right call and she is serving 10 years which is still a lot. She never planned on killing him, they struggled, she hit her head he almost killed her then to her luck and his horror she woke up and literally to a fckn chainsaw in her face he was ready to chop her up! Then she grabbed it they struggled, it nicked his neck that's the definition of a struggle and series of unfortunate events aka manslaughter. And she did still end up paying the highest price both with her hand and sentence and everything else. I also love how she still stayed on her own investigation and knew what was going on, they all used each other to protect themselves when they needed to but now that she knew there was no way out, she was like I'm taking you all down with me too. I mean without her Ted and AC12 would be done, they never would have caught the big guys, she gave them all the evidence and arrests and got the Chief too. So in a way she kind of made her amends to them and got them out of the mess. And like I said she's still the only one paying the price both physically and psychologically so it's fair. I love the respect she had for him and the team, and vice versa she literally went no I want AC12 to investigate this so that she could give them what she needed and do her job and show her integrity, and Ted recognised it too. This is why this one was still really good to me because also like previously when she turned the interview back on Ted and owned their asses, she did the same here, and yes it was a different style to the other seasons but it was still great and portraying her running and hunting and them hunting her it was good. It's these kinds of situations and storylines that make you wonder but you never truly know how you'll react in them, because Arnott saying he would've stopped sooner if it was him, not the hell you wouldn't! It's survival mode and nothing else. When? After you've done one thing and in her position as a cop you can't just go oh hey I hid evidence but I'll stop now, no, you can't, you just have to keep going and that's why there are still so many unsolved cases etc. The only way it can truly stop is if the person wants it to. Very rarely are they caught and proven guilty 100%, even she wouldn't have been, had she not admitted it, they still couldn't prove the whole story to a court and jury etc. But the point being if you do take that path it's very hard to keep running, and the reason she admitted it was for her kids to have someone, if you decide to keep running you can't have a life, you can never sleep peacefully, it's basically worse than prison so it takes a toll on you, I can only imagine how horrible and uneasy you feel 24/7. That's why it's crazy when you see these documentaries and stories about killers where the police have evidence and "know" it was them but they can't arrest them and don't have enough to prove it 100%, so they are free, and 99.9% never admit it even on their death bed and it just proves how evil and psychopathic they are because how could you live decades like that and act normal, and that's in cases of premeditated serial killers, not these manslaughter/accident cases. These are the ones where people's lives get ruined and the quilt never leaves them because they are not evil people. I mean there are people serving life sentences for one punch attacks on a night out, for someone dying during a brawl, for self defence even when they were the victim etc. That's where the ethics, morals, values (and in medicine too) vs the rules and what's on paper come in to play and make it so difficult. Season 5 on the way we get a new chief, she is such a beloved actress and very cute, shy funny off screen but you will see how good she is on screen. British crime shows for the win, always!

This show is great. Series 4 is maybe collectively underwhelming. But it has its moments. Steve going over that banister, has to be the standout moment. But even that is diluted too quickly when he's back to work far too soon. The one slight negative thing I will say about this show, is perhaps they don't handle depicting the passage of time as well as they could at times.
