It's not that looks equate to a good person, it's the fact that you lose a lot of your guard and inhibitions with good looking people and charming people even more so. You get lured and blinded by that and then your brain only focuses on the good parts and even if red flags hit you in the face you won't notice them or you'll find excuses to dismiss them. That's why they're so dangerous and any narcissists in general.
