Poll about Evan

This is something that has been bugging me for quite a while. People on Webnovel in particular seem to despise Evan. The reason being that he betrayed Troy ONCE in his childish immaturity. Reading their comments have influenced my writing a lot, and as you may have noticed, I have been unconsciously writing less and less scenes of him lately (like him not being present at the film premiere in the latest chapter).

I personally feel that this hatred is exclusively on Webnovel, and perpetrated by a few very vocal readers. That's why I'm not making this poll public and asking only my paid users what they feel about Evan because I don't want those vocal readers to sway the votes here as well.

This is an important poll because based on the outcome, I will take an important decision about Evan going forward. So please do vote on it.

PS: The Poll will end in a week.

Oh definitely! They will work together in future for sure.

Will his arc be explored in a way that compliments MCs? Like say he attends some advanced film school and happens to meet someone important to future movies for Troy. Then he can be useful to "find" people you'll want to include later, that it might be contrived for Troy to meet personally every time. The Kloves likely know a lot of hotshots in filmmaking by now but there will be new talent that create good things later on

Do with him as you wish

Qweku_v

I agree with you.

I’m mainly indifferent, but I think only because I think we haven’t focused enough on him to get emotionally attached. Also it seems he and Troy mainly keep separate lives (also true of the rest of Troy’s family).

People need to chill, he was a literal child when that happen, I myself can think of at least 10 times I acted like an ass (or rather overreacted) when I was a kid... The readers need to have in mind when reading stories like these that the child characters will behave just like that, a child.

I could, but there is a little problem. I haven't seen One Piece at all, and given how it has more than 1100 episodes, I don't have the time to watch it at all. I could have done Naruto, but he's too old now to play him.

TheLazyWarrior

Personally, I think he’d already served his time in regaining Troy’s trust. He doesn’t need to be punished forever for one mistake and he’s learned from it. I’m just glad he had gotten his little POV redemption chapter. Don’t think it would’ve done his character well without it and if we just saw him immediately being buddy-buddy with Troy without seeing his side of the story. This is a small suggestion but I was wondering if you could have Troy buy the entire One Piece franchise and in the future, have him produce a live action version(As the producer and writer. I wouldn’t mind if you had him play as Luffy though) while Evan directs it. That franchise is too good to pass up(It’s worth a billion and it just resonates with all kinds of different people from all kinds of walks in life)! I think it would be some great excuse to bond over their love for entertainment

It’s your story. Your vision and ideas brought us here in the first place. What function does Evan serve in the story. Maybe spruce up more about him in the story occasionally to showcase that “function” he is supposed to serve. If he is to be a friend, some semblance of normalcy then show those moments occasionally. I think it might flesh him out more as a character. But it is your story, and we are here because we enjoy it. Webnovel is full of op sorts of people and all sorts of stories. Only some, in my opinion at least, are rare gems, the rest just pop out chapters for the clicks and rehash same plot lines as the next story on the list.

To be honest, I didn't care about Evan one way or another until 9/11. Not because *Muh Angst and Tragedy* but because he finally found his place in the story as not just Troy's "sidekick" but as his own person with his own interests and plans for the future. Do with him as You like, but I personally would love if he grew up as a directing powerhouse that saves the Star Wars franchise *wink wink nudge nudge*

I don't particularly dislike him, the hate from webnovel is overblown. His mistake was done in ignorance and as a young child, not maliciously. That being said I think it's still prudent not to include him in every confidential matter if it isn't necessary. Though it may be unfair to him as it happened so early many take that approach out of caution. If someone will throw weaknesses in your face when angry or upset, you stop telling them about those things. If someone is prone to blabbing secrets you keep that in mind when a secret needs to be kept. A bit like Hagrid in that regard. He's not a bad guy, but telling him the truth about the shooting would have been unwise even if he's family now. I'm a bit indifferent to him as a character, not negative enough that I don't want him to have an arch in the story but it's not my most anticipated future plotline, either. I think you should write what you want with him. A redemption arc of sorts might not be a bad idea, not for the Webnovel readers but it'd be good if MC regains some measure of trust in him as more than a foster sibling and now slightly distant friend.

Especially with Troy’s parents, taking him in his house their household after his parents died that’s like brotherly bond right there

Catherine Colin

In retrospect, the fact that he's not perfect, that he has mistakes, that he changes makes him a better character and he can contribute a lot to the story. I think Troy needs a director in the future.

Rafael

They were kids I don’t hold it against him

Catherine Colin

I told you a long time ago to do with him what you want. That was when I was indifferent to the character, but now I find him too charming. I want to see more of him, but I still think it's his story and you decide what to do with it.
