2025-04-16 09:23:00 +0000 UTCYup 1996, so almost 30 years old. The original Mission Impossible was actually a show that started 30 years before this movie came out. I never saw it myself, but the main character of the show is actually Jim Phelps, the bad guy in this movie! So Ethan replaced him in more ways than one lol. Here's a crazy fact: Tom Cruise is older now (62, probably 60/61 during the filming of the upcoming Mission Impossible movie) than Jon Voight was in this movie (57 when released in theaters, probably 55/56 during filming)! The fact that a 60/61 year old man is still running around doing crazy stunts is insane! Emilio Estevez was definitely put into the movie for that shock factor death. His role is actually uncredited. Tom Cruise was really doing sleight-of-hand magic in the scene where he fools Krieger into thinking he switched the CDs with the NOC list and the fake one. A lot of the CGI definitely looks dated, but there's also a lot of practical effects that stand the test of time in here and in the rest of the series. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It does take a bit of time to get going, but, once it does, it gets going lol
