Not because he is not a great profiler or would not make a good leader in general, but he has always been more the guy who gets fired up easily (like at the end when he told Hotch he should not have taken the ubsub on alone, Morgan ran off alone dozens of times as well π) and I would have not seen him as one to enjoy the politics and desk work of a position like that. The most logical choice for me to make it as drama-free as possible would have been Rossi; he has the seniority, experience and also probably the respect of most of the higher ups, would most likely not care if he has to step down again at the end, so there would not have been any problems. But I guess it also would have made for boring TV π
