2025-02-15 17:57:37 +0000 UTCI think the pilot was a typical pilot episode. I feel like sometimes in pilots, the chemistry between characters/actors is kind of awkward and the actors themselves are still easing into it. But strap in- it’s going to be the best and bumpiest ride! And yes- Michael C. Hall is one of the best actors in TV, in my opinion.

2025-02-14 16:15:41 +0000 UTCI get what you mean when your expectations are high sometimes it's a little pale at first in comparison. I personally needed a minute to get into Dexter the first time too. But I think that's also because I wasn't used to a show with a voiceover and it threw me off a bit at first. Also you killed me with the comments about him being a creep but a snack ha ha. Can't wait for you to react to more of this !

2025-02-14 05:27:03 +0000 UTCI think part of what makes it difficult to totally get into this show in the first episode or two is that: We all feel strange about the serial killer being the sort of good guy, with his code. And about liking him. Also, because Dexter doesn't feel emotions the way many people do, it is harder to emotionally connect to the main character right away. This whole show forces us to let go of the notion that the killer is always the bad guy. I mean, he is still a killer. But the people that he kills are far worse than him. Uncomfortable to find yourself liking a killer. Goes against everything we were taught. And that is part of why the show is so great!

2025-02-14 04:30:54 +0000 UTCFirst, I started skipping the intro pretty quickly too. Secondly, the story does build really well. In the first episode Deb seems a bit of a flake but in this one you see she is more than that. And I forgot how much story you get that you don't realize is story for a few more episodes.

2025-02-14 03:02:56 +0000 UTCI agree. Travis has to watch the opening theme credits. I don’t think they really had one on the first episode though. And if it’s weird that you find Dexter attractive, then I’m weird too. I used to question myself because of that, but then I reminded myself that it wasn’t an actual serial killer I was attracted to, but a fictional character played by a phenomenal actor.

2025-02-14 02:00:40 +0000 UTCLolllll it’s like 2 mins long and I don’t watch it for any show other than the first and last episode of the season. I’m consistent !

2025-02-14 01:28:07 +0000 UTCYeah I guess I didn’t realize that it does kind of start out as more of a slow burn. I mean the concept grabbed me right away cause I can’t think of anything I would’ve watched before this that had such an antihero as a protagonist, plus it being from such a 1st person perspective so you understand/empathize with him more, just intriguing for sure. But I guess story wise it takes a little bit to build. But fear not, the story will build! Also, get ready for all the comments you’re about to get about skipping the intro song 😆
