I don’t think I’ve ever related to a fictional character the way I relate to Charlie. Ever since I watched season 1 I’ve felt like I’m watching myself in a different body, which is crazy I know. Because of that I can’t rewatch this season, because my own struggles are still too fresh. But I’m so happy that this show exist and I’m hoping it’ll give young people the courage to ask for help so that they don’t have to deal with it in their 30s like I had to.

Not really related at all to the episode other than the setting- but also during the time I was in treatment the Ed Sheeran song “Thinking Out Loud” had come out recently and was being played constantly on the radio. We’d take a van from our residential housing over to the location where we’d have group therapy and when that song would come on the radio, at the part where he says “darling you look perfect tonight” , we’d cheekily change the words to “you seem like a great person tonight” as a way to enjoy the song while deemphasizing the focus on appearance which was a problematic thing for most of us. Ah what good times 😂

2025-02-06 16:18:28 +0000 UTCThis was a very interesting episode. I like how they portrayed Charlie’s experience in residential treatment. I don’t know how much I’ve really seen of that type of facility shown in media but I feel as though it’s typically seen as more of a dark, very clinical, kind of scary place. My experience with it was much more like Charlie’s. The whole banning of the word “sorry” between Nick and Charlie is quite cute to me in the context of this episode’s setting especially. One of my fun little anecdotes from resi was how we all used to struggle to be in the kitchen together at the same time preparing our meals, and you’d constantly hear someone apologizing for having to encroach on someone else’s space. We eventually decided we all needed to stop apologizing for just existing and instead just alert each other if we were potentially in someone’s way by saying “I’m existing behind you!” 🤣 It seemed like kind of a sweet way to make light of a situation in which we were all obviously struggling but trying to get better 💜

2025-02-06 16:01:25 +0000 UTCLove that this episode shows that there is no easy fix and some days will be harder than others. Tao and his video is just adorable and so supportive. Tao's grown a lot as a character and I love how he's just there for his friends in his own Tao way. Tori taking Charlie's hand in the car on the way back home is just too wholesome ❤️❤️❤️ This episode did the dual perspective thing very well. I find that doing more than one perspective of the same events in an episode can be hit or miss, but very well done here

2025-01-30 21:36:17 +0000 UTCThis episode is probably my favorite of the whole show and also of any show I've seen. The way it was done was so beautiful and shows the bad side of things while also still trying to be wholesome and in their own heartstopper way. As someone who struggles with OCD (and has self harmed in the past) I connect so much with Charlie and I just want to protect him and nick, my little babies 🥺 just wish there was more than 8 episodes a season, I always need more!!

2025-01-30 02:27:04 +0000 UTCwhat a fantastic episode and portrayal. As someone with OCD but no ED I thought that’s what Charlie was displaying symptoms of (along with an ED of course) and I think they truly represented it well. It genuinely is terrifying and the compulsions make no sense yet they make you feel like the world will end if you don’t do them. I managed to pull myself out of the deep end after a 4 month long episode where i was trapped inside and isolated. Im very thankful for my family/friends who were there and the resources made available to me. While I didn’t get help at a facility, Im very glad people have the opportunity to. It’s so incredibly important. Teared up about 5 times. Love the reaction! and yes black friday by tom odell was the perfect song for that scene.
