Explanations: Ann Gallagher is a PCSO (Police Community Support Office) - it’s a type of police officer that doesn’t have all the powers of a full police office but they work with them and support them. HMIT stands for Halifax Major Incident Team - hence they are there investigating the murder of Tommy’s mum. (I find it interesting he’s so upset over it when we saw how horribly he used to treat her!) Woodentops are uniformed (full) police officers (a reference to the hat), Ann being a plastic police officer is in reference to her being a PCSO. Warrant card is the official police ID so it’s really important.
