And it's definitely another of my favorite episodes this season for sure!! It's brilliant!! I really love how we finally get to see how this new dark curse has been casted, and I love that it isn't revealed until halfway through this season, because it's leaves us all in such suspense! What perfect timing! And I love how this dark curse was casted too!! Regarding Regina being able to cast this dark curse, simply using her own blood... The blood of a witch who has already cast the curse before... I believe that this new loophole is just meant to be a way for this show's creators and writers to be able to show us just how powerful Mother Gothel and her sister Coven of Eight really are. Maybe this loophole around casting the dark curse shouldn't exist. And yet... I also actually quite love it too, because this way allows for Regina to be able to cast the dark curse once again, but this time... in a selfless act and without her having to once again kill someone she loves by crushing another's heart. And it's really beautiful, in a strange yet unique kind of way. There are actually a number of loopholes within this season, taken from certain magics we see throughout seasons one through six, as a way of bringing things we've loved about the magic shown throughout this show so far back, but in a new way. And in a way that shows us just how powerful Mother Gothel and her Coven truly are. And while it can be frustrating at times, I can also appreciate this show's creators' and writers' efforts to give us what are similar to the magic and the many things we love about this show, but very different and new at the same time. And for this reason... I love it all the same! Oh, and yes... Zelena does appear to have her magic back, and Rumple is back to being his impish crocodile self that we've loved from seasons one through six. Why? Again... All of your questions as to how this is all possible will be answered in time. :) And now... Mother Gothel is absolutely the true villainess with the most power, as we now see just how easily she has manipulated Drizella, and it's absolutely fabulous!! Because I absolutely love Gothel a lot!! She's now come to be among one of my absolute favorite villains throughout all of Once Upon a Time! Mother Gothel is smart, manipulative, conniving, and very patient. Seeing as she has waited eight years to reawaken Drizella from her stone curse, has taken all the time she needed in order to train Drizella in her magic, all the while manipulating her for her own purposes. And she has waited patiently for Wish Hook to arrive inside the tower to free her. Lady Tremaine was able to outsmart Gothel once, but Gothel certainly hasn't made the mistake of allowing anyone to get one over on her ever again. I love her!! Now like I've already talked a little about above... I absolutely love how it is actually Regina who has been forced to cast this dark curse again, on account of Regina being the only one of them who has ever cast the curse before. Because the blood of someone who has cast the dark curse once is the final ingredient Gothel and Drizella need in order to cast this new dark curse, which is also a new rendition of the original dark curse that Regina casted back in season one. This is a brilliant twist I didn't expect, because it's different form how all of the curses have been cast in the seasons before. And those who've cast the dark curse, have done so out of revenge and hate. However, this time, Regina has cast it out of love. In order to save Henry's life from the poison Gothel has put inside his body. It isn't the same poison that's in Wish Hook's heart, because Henry's dying whether he's near Ella or not. However, the only way to save him is if Regina casts the curse so that it will send them once again to a land without magic. I think it's brilliant, and even beautiful to see Regina make this sacrifice out of the love she has for her son, and to see how everyone else around her standby her decision to cast this curse. Especially Wish Hook, who reminds Zelena that she too would cast this curse if it meant saving the life of her daughter, as Wish Hook would do for his daughter. I really love how Wish Hook immediately stands by Regina's decision to cast the curse and assures Zelena that Regina is doing the right thing because he knows that Zelena would do so for Robin, as he would do for Alice. I also really love the scene between Wish Hook, Rumple, and Alice, when Wish Hook comes to Rumple seeking answers. And I love that Rumple gives Wish Hook the white elephant that would ensure that Wish Hook and Alice will remain father and daughter despite their true memories being taken from them. However, we see that Wish Hook later sacrifices his one chance to remain close to Alice in the Land Without Magic, in order to help assure Ella that she and Lucy would remain together instead. And I absolutely love, love, love this!! Because it shows just how truly good Wish Hook is. What a beautiful gesture and act of love! As for Robin's introduction, and the revelation that she and Alice are together... I love that we get to meet Zelena's daughter, Robin, all grown up. And I love the first scene between her, Regina, and Zelena too. However, with this being said... I am not a fan of Robin and Alice together, for many reasons. Their actresses act well enough off one another, but I just don't care about their relationship. For reasons that I will share with you later on and throughout your reactions to the rest of the season to avoid any spoilers for all that's to come. Next... Zelena is back and she's awake!! Thanks to Regina having been smart enough to save just enough of the potion that Drizella had used to wake her. And I absolutely love it!! I love seeing Zelena return once again!! Is this another way for the creators and writers to cheat, in order for Zelena to be back to her wonderful self that we've come to love? Yes, and yet I don't care. I absolutely love that Zelena is back and that she's awake now too! And Zelena's cursed persona is Kelly, a cyclist and a hippie. Which makes so much sense, given that Zelena was once the Wicked Witch of the West, and a version of The Wizard of Oz's, Wicked Witch's real world character... Moira Gulch. Who is known for riding her bicycle like a mad woman. Very funny! Oh... And I love how Kelly cries out for her cycling monkeys to fly! Fabulous! Sadly, Kelly is also engaged to someone not among the fairytale realms. A regular guy, whom we haven't yet met. And this may or not cause some problems down the road. I feel badly for Zelena, because she possibly has to sacrifice her newfound happiness, even if she does so lovingly for the sake of her family. Seeing Gothel finally reveal herself to be the true villain at last, upon putting Drizella in her place by tricking her to give all of her magic to her sister, is absolutely phenomenal! Both Drizella and Lady Tremaine started off strongly as villains this season, but they've lost their strength, I think. And now we know why. Because neither of them were ever meant to be the big bad villains. It's always been Mother Gothel, who now wishes to use Anastasia and her magic to help her to find the rest of her coven. Her sister witches. And clearly... Anastasia is very powerful in her own right as well. And lastly... Henry's attempt to wake Lucy with True Love's Kiss has failed, despite his strongest efforts to believe in all Lucy has been trying to help him to believe. Because Lucy is now the one who has lost her own belief. It's clear that Henry wants so badly to believe magic is real for just a brief moment and that he really is Lucy's father. And the look on his face the moment that magic has failed to help him, is heartbreaking. Overall... This is a fantastic episode!! And I really love it! It's another of my favorite episodes this season for sure. And now... It's ended with the big reveal that Mother Gothel is seeking to gather her coven of witches for her grand plan, which means that trouble is coming to Hyperion Heights! Thankfully, Weaver, Rogers, and Tilly have come together in the ending so they can try to discover what all is really happening in their town. Just you wait for what's to come!! I can't wait for more! Thank you again, Travis!! Sincerely, Heidi
