I didn't intentionally wait until Hallowe'en to watch this one, but I'm glad I did because it's got that creepy factor! Great episode, and actually quite an important one. It's setting up Danny and Clara's relationship, showcasing actually how funny this Doctor really is, but also setting up this new dynamic between Clara and the Doctor that you picked up on, which personally I really love. This is the first time I think the Doctor and his companion truly feel like equals, and I'm here for it.

2024-11-01 08:21:21 +0000 UTCI love the final shot if this episode. The solider without a weapon. Something they, being The Doctor, try and fail to be when circumstances prevent it. Case in point when they bring things back to 'the moment'. The weapon they will forever regret using. But, because of converging incarnations at one point in time, they can't all remember that they never did. Clara has been revealed to be someone of immense integral importance to The Doctor in so many points of their lives. Copied and interwoven in such a way that 'they' are oblivious to almost all of it. This story appears to follow on from that trend, in a different but albeit similar fashion. That's a fascinating bit of clever writing that changes everything and almost nothing at the same time. She remains a present companion and an echo in the shadows. That constant companion protecting The Doctor, mostly when they are unaware it's even happening. Here, she brings them there own words to help shape the person they were destined to become. Perhaps too much of a paradoxical creation, but I love it. This shows how to maybe build upon the history, but not potentially and irrevocably alter fundamental and appreciated tenants. We can all individually decide how effective this or other things are, and how successful or disruptive they ultimately could be.

2024-10-30 01:25:40 +0000 UTCI'm SO glad you liked this episode, I agree that it's phenomenal. As I said on Discord, it's my joint favourite episode of the entire show. It's absolutely brilliant, so well written with great twists and turns. As you know I'm not usually someone who enjoys darker toned shows but I actually really enjoy the darkness shown by this Doctor and his episodes. It's a refreshing change after years of David Tennant and Matt Smith who were both very light hearted. I also think this Doctor's darker edge works SO well with Clara's personality. I'm glad you're liking them together because they're my favourite Doctor and companion duo. They have great banter and sass each other all the time lol but you can see the respect and genuine love that they have for each other too. Clara really is more close to being The Doctor's equal than any companion you've seen before, she's really clever and she just seems to understand him in a way that no one else has, not even River. Clara and The Doctor are something special and I'm just so excited that you're finally seeing it. I won't say any more lol, I could talk about this season for weeks though. 😂 I'm happy you're enjoying it so far.
