Finally gotten around to watching this episode. Enjoyed your reaction to episode 3: Carentan. This is the first episode that has more of a focus on one specific person - in this case Albert Blythe. The theme was focussed on the fear of fighting with Albert Blythe not being able to function properly in combat. He even experiences hysterical blindness, which is a temporary blindness due to overreaction of the nervous system, in this case fear. Later on he finally is able to start shooting only for then to see that the person he shot might have possibly be rolled over by an armored car. Other notable things from this episode were: - the introduction of Eugene Roe (the medic of Easy) - the tales of what Spiers did on D-Day and how exaggerated it has already become - that there was friendly fire happening due mainly exhaustion, but also because the uniforms are very similar - the collection of memorabilia (watches, flags, etc.) Keep enjoying this masterpiece of a miniseries! P.S. They definitely do not shy away from the injuries and the actual feeling of being in a battle XD

He recovered from his injuries and stayed in the military and was honored for his service in the Korean War. He died from an illness when traveling to a D-Day anniversary commemoration. This was all written pre internet so they relied on interviews and no one had heard from him since his injury so they assumed he had died.
