There's so much to love about the finale, but Jason spending a thousand bearimies contemplating and meditating (essentially becoming a monk - the thing that he wasn't, but throughout the show was constantly pretending to be) will always be one of my favorite things.

I love how they ended this series, but it does make me ugly cry and I hate that. 😭

A lot of shows are awesome for a long time but don't quite end as well as we'd hope. Sometimes they overstay their welcome, or the writing gets stale, or they forget their own characters and start overwriting them or forcing them into stories just to make a specific story even if it doesn't make sense. So many of us think to ourselves, "I hated that ending! That's not how it should have ended. What were they thinking??" Not with this show. I feel like it was pretty perfect. There are a couple episodes maybe that weren't my favorite, but overall the series was fascinating and thought-provoking and sweet and poignant and soooooo funny. And the ending was perfect. I couldn't have wished for a better ending. It made so much sense. It made me cry buckets, but it also gave me such a comforting feeling. Like I wish / hope that death follows a similar pattern when we all go... because I think it's brilliant. To give us all the chance to sort through old issues, figure it all out before we make it into the Good Place, then we get to have an amazing time doing all the things we've ever dreamed of, and then when we're ready... walk through a door and return to the universe, in whatever way that means. It's just such a beautiful thought. I'll probably never forget Chidi's lovely speech in his final scene with Eleanor. "Picture a wave..." Such a beautiful thing to say. The wave returns to the ocean and so will we someday. 🌊 I'm so glad you watched this series, and love how much you liked it, Travis. Thank you so much for reacting to it. πŸ’œπŸ«Ά

I agree completely with you. I mean it's perfect that it isn't dragged out and I feel they just ended it the right way, with the right amount of seasons. And that's what makes it so special. This last episode still makes me emotional even now. Jason and Janet are so adorable and Jason is really touching here (I think the fact he's the first to know is also such a nice touch). Tahani becoming an architect is perfect for her imo. The whole thing with Chidi wrecked me the first time. From the moment where he explains to Eleanor why he's ready, and she begs him not to go to the scene where she realises her mistake and lets him leave. And then Eleanor finding her peace by helping Michael become human (which was again such an emotional and beautiful moment). I'm just so emotional about all this. This show owns my heart and made me reflect on life so much. I find the ideas behind that finale so beautiful and heartwarming yet hearbreaking at the same time. If it makes sense. I could write a fucking novel on how I feel about this. For the anecdote, the last episode was titled "Whenever you're ready" and boy I was never gonna be ready to let that go. And yet, I feel this is perfect. Throwing another season in here would have tainted it. And now I just wanna watch it all over again someday. (Oh and side note but the woman teaching Michael how to play the guitar is Ted Danson's real wife)

I love this finale. How beautiful. You get to spend however long in the good place until your soul is so at peace there nothing else to do but put that good energy back in the universe.

The Da Vinci Code (the book) is awesome and its predecessor (Angels and Demons) is even better! Jason spending a thousand bearamies waiting for Janet to come back because he found the necklace he wanted to give her is just so Jason 🀣🀣🀣😭 I'm just gonna leave you with the last lines of the show because you're right Travis, perfect way to end the show: Janet: What do you think happens when people walk through the door? It's the only thing in the universe I don't know. Eleanor Shellstrop: I don't know either. The wave returns to the ocean. What the ocean does with the water after that is anyone's guess. But as a very wise not-robot once told me, the true joy's in the mystery. Michael: Thank you so very, very much. Ken: Yeah, no problem. Take it easy. Michael: I'll do you one better. I'll say this to you, my friend, with all the love in my heart and all the wisdom of the universe: take it sleazy. Ken: [chuckles] All right.

I looove this finale!! The woman at the end that was teaching Michael to play guitar is Ted Danson's real wife Mary Steenburgen. Cute little cameo<3
