2024-10-27 02:19:50 +0000 UTCPeter's Doctor certainly is a lot darker. He's been through a lot of trauma, and I think has this "grumpiness" and lack of empathy as a defense mechanism. However, that's what I really love about this version of the Doctor. He really does feel very alien. Personally this is my favorite Doctor, and you've entered my favorite era of the show.

I had been pretty much over Dalek episodes by this point, but I felt this added something different to the usual epic palaver, or wedged in for the sake of an appearance. Less cookie cutter copy and paste, but more in depth idea. There are a few similarities between this and series 1's Dalek episode I think. Which is also in my top 3 NuWho Dalek stories. Yeah Peter is a little different from the other NuWho Doctor's. Arguably, some aspects that make him a little closer to the original character from Classic. The war torn survivor, The Casanova and The quirky imaginary friend are splendid additions to the cycle. So I don't see Peter as any sort of improvement, but something different again. Like David, and so many of the crew, Peter is life long fan of the show. A very passionate fan, and thus he knows his Who. I felt that does come across quite often. Like all of them, there's a story to tell and a journey to go on. Looking forward to more of it, as usual.

2024-10-21 21:37:22 +0000 UTCThis is a good episode, I agree not the best Dalek episode but I think it works for the second episode of a season. You're right that Peter's Doctor is a lot darker than the previous two. Each Doctor is a reflection of what the previous has gone through. Matt's Doctor lost Amy and Rory, lost River, lost Gallifrey again, lost a whole town full of people etc. He was broken down and that's reflected in this Doctor being darker and more serious but he's also very insecure and is carrying a lot of self doubt which we saw first in this episode with him doubting if he's a good person or not. But he is also funny and I'm glad you've picked up on his dry sense of humour. And Peter is just a phenomenal actor, usually when a Doctor is first starting it takes them a while to get into it but Peter's captivating me already. I'm excited to see your feelings about this Doctor develop through the season. I see you've noticed the bigger budget as well. They did get a big increase for season 8. Visually it's a beautiful season. And I love it when you do your Dalek impressions lol, their voices are ridiculous. I actually look forward to you doing that now. π Can't wait for the next episode, it's one of my faves. π
