Strax: Would you like me to send it up to you? Clara: Yes (Strax throws it up to Clara, hitting her in the face with it) π€£π€£π€£ I love Vastra, Strax, and Jenny, but especially Strax! He's just too funny πππ He's always mixing Clara up, constantly mistaking her for a boy π€£π€£π€£. Just too good lol. That last phone call from the 11th telling Clara not to give up on the 12th is the perfect send-off for Matt Smith (honestly can't remember if he shows up again or not, because, well, it's me lol). I know it took me a while to get used to Matt Smith as the Doctor, then, as soon as I get used to him, he's gone as the Doctor, in much the same way as I was with Rose in the first couple seasons of New Who π€£π€£π€£ It took me about 2 seconds to get used to David Tennant's Doctor lol. I'll keep my opinions on what I think of Peter's Doctor to myself for now lol

2024-10-19 16:26:02 +0000 UTCFun fact, the mask the Doctor wore when he was disguised as a droid actually tore during their first take. They had to quickly find something, and the only thing they had was a mask of Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor which was used by a stunt double in series 7. If you freeze-frame it just before he rips it off, you'll see the likeness to Smith. Although completely unintentional, there's something quite poetic about Capaldi ripping off the face of his predecessor to reveal his new image.

You're right that it's not the best they've done but it does come together really well and gets better on a rewatch. The Doctor and Clara have such a special and unique relationship that you start to see glimpses of here. It's always funny to me how he says "Clara, I'm not your boyfriend." But he clearly only said that because he was worried about her not liking him any more, but he didn't mean it. He still loves her to bits and she still loves him too, their relationship hasn't changed. It just took Clara a bit of time to see that and I think that's beautiful. I'm SO excited to watch through this season with you. And Peter will grow on you I'm sure, he's a fantastic actor. π

2024-10-17 03:46:48 +0000 UTCif you're wondering why he keeps saying this looks familiar it's because he lived this kinda story before. remember with david tennant's doctor with marie antoinette aka the girls in the fireplace and the repair droids who wanted to harvest her? also when the doctor says his face looks familiar its because peter capaldi actually played a character before in doctor who. he played the father in the family who lived in pompeii with tennant's doctor and clara. fun little throwbacks to the past i think :)

For me personally it went really quick with David, then a few episodes with Matt because I loved David so much and as a child it took me a bit longer with Peter.

And now he's playing the Doctor! Biggest dream come true if I've ever seen one. Also, I agree, that phone call from Matt Smith was much needed, like a goodbye to all of us. Can't wait to watch the rest with you. π
