Both Amy Aker (Nova) and Meghan Ory (Red) moved on to other shows. This is why they never really returned to Once Upon a Time. Meghan Ory came back for a few episodes in season five, but she wanted to move on. And other show where she became a major character. So, she chose not to return at all. It's too bad, but the creators and writers of this show respected their decisions to leave. Yes... It's been a long time since we've focused on Cinderella. But I still really love this episode, and I think it's great seeing more from her! :) Heidi

I really love this episode, and while one of my favorite things about the Cinderella centered episode back in season one, titled... The Price of Gold, was that we didn't have the same storyline of Cinderella that we've seen in a number of movie adaptations, I still really enjoy the overall storylines from Cinderella that we are given within this episode as well. Especially with the great twists we're given. Ella's actions may be little out of place and slightly uncharacteristic for her, but I can let this little nitpick I may have slide, because I really do love this episode as a whole. Now... I have to admit that I don't really care for Ashley too much in the first episode she was in during season one and in the few episodes throughout this show that we've seen her in since season one, because I didn't really care too much for the actress playing her... Jesse Schram. At least not back in her past episodes. And I'm still not too sure about this actress in the role of Cinderella even now. However, in this episode, titled... The Other Shoe, she has definitely grown on me, and I like her much more. I think the actress has most certainly improved in her acting over the years. Plus... I also really love the twist to the original Cinderella story, making one of the stepsisters kind and good, in spite of this episode's first impression of Clorinda. Just like we see a kind stepsister for Danielle in the movie... Ever After: A Cinderella Story. A character I really love throughout this movie. But back to this episode... Mekenna Melvin plays Clorinda within this episode, and I really love her role as this kind stepsister, as well as Jacob's role (Clorinda's boyfriend), played by actor, Max Lloyd-Jones. Sadly, he's not in this episode much, so we don't get a chance to know him well. Also... Lisa Banes in the role of Lady Tremaine, is absolutely perfect throughout this episode! She makes me think very much of her character within the animated Disney movie, Cinderella. Very well casted indeed! I also really think it is nice to see Ella fight to protect and save her sister and her fiancé from Lady Tremaine, while she's been believing herself to be the true villain of this story. I enjoy getting to know Clorinda, as well as Lady Tremaine. I wish we could have gotten a little more with the other stepsister, and especially more with Jacob... Clorinda's boyfriend. But... C'est la vie. I love that we also get to see more with Ella's husband, Thomas, as well. Played by actor, Tim Phillipps, whom I've never seen in anything else before. Sadly, he's in even fewer episodes of Once Upon a Time than Jesse Schram (Cinderella) is. I would have loved to see him a little more throughout this episode. A little bit. At least within the Storybrooke storyline. But it's still really good to see Thomas again too. I really love his role as Cinderella's Prince. And I wish we could see him more throughout this beautiful show as well. And their daughter, Alexandra, is absolutely adorable. In regards to the timeline and the lack of the children throughout this show aging much, in case you might be wondering... You have to remember, that just because five seasons have passed since Ella's baby has been born back in season one's fourth episode... The Price of Gold, and two seasons now have passed since Neal has been born... The seasons are not equivalent to years passing by within this show's timeline. We don't know exactly how long it's really been, but for all we know... It may have only been a year or even less since Neal has been born, and maybe it's only been two or three years since Alexandra has been born. So yes... While it may seem strange that these babies don't appear to be aging much, I still believe that their timeline works. Next... I absolutely love the first scene we see with Killian as he is playing with Ashley's little girl. So, so adorable! I love this moment!! And I love seeing Emma watching him, and smiling upon seeing him do so. You can tell that she must be imagining him as a father to a child of their very own should they one day have children together. And you can see that she most certainly would love to have a child with Killian as well. So adorable! :) And then... I love seeing Killian teaching Henry how to swordfight, once again continuing to act as a father figure for Emma's son as well. I love that Killian and Henry join Emma in her search for Ashley. And then seeing Killian and Henry be there for Emma to help her find her strength again, especially when Emma is needed to save Ashley's life. So beautiful! And then of course even much more so... I love the moment between Killian and Emma when she asks him to move in with her! Yay!!!! Such a beautiful and sweet moment between y favorite True Love couple! I appreciate that Emma takes Archie's advice to find her will to seek out a future in spite of her impending fate. Sadly, she still doesn't tell Killian the truth about her fate. Ugh! What gives? Emma's refusal to tell anyone the truth annoys me too, especially after the events of this episode. And as for the scene between Emma, Hook, Henry, and the Evil Queen... I absolutely love it!! And the Evil Queen is brilliant as always! Yes... The Evil Queen's wicked smile and her gleeful laugh! I love it!!! However, where was Killian in that conversation? I wish he would have been written to step in between the Evil Queen and Emma so he could have chivalrously defended the woman he loves as the Evil Queen is taunting her, which would have been very much in his character to do so. He doesn't talk again until the Evil Queen whisks them away. Nonetheless... Like I said above, I love that both Killian and Henry help to encourage Emma to find Ashley without magic, as she had done before while she was still a bail bonds woman. And it's funny that Killian still isn't completely sure what that is. Ha! Next... Dopey is no longer a tree. We didn't get to see him, but Grumpy mentions so to Emma and Archie that they have somehow found a way to revive him before Emma could. So funny. Grumpy is always great! Also... The reason why we haven't seen Dopey since he was turned into a tree in season five's premiere episode... The Dark Swan, is because the actor who plays Dopey had decided to quit the show for reasons unknown, which is too bad. As for David going to Rumple to make a deal... This really could have been dangerous. I've always wondered if Rumple finding out where Belle was hiding is because David had agreed to this deal. Agreed to deliver her his message to her, or if he simply already assumed that Hook was harboring Belle on his ship. But I like that this is Rumple's condition, even though I expected the deal on David's end to be much worse, given Rumple's threat to him. And of course, David wasn't going to burn the letter. He wants to know who killed his father, and I can't blame him. I would feel the same way had my father been murdered. Nonetheless... I absolutely love that this storyline is continuing on and that it continues to remain so mysterious. I love David too, and I love his actor... Josh Dallas! He's a fantastic actor! Of course... I do side more with Snow in her pleas for David to give up his search for answers, because family should come first over an obsession to find out a truth that could very well lead to vengeance. But I absolutely understand David's side too. It's tough, for sure. I also really enjoy the scene showing the brief session between Emma and Archie because it is about helping Emma to let Killian in more. Archie is always so good and knows how to help all those who continue to come to see him. I love the moment when Ashley speaks to Killian about him and Emma being good together, and hearing her ask him if they have plans to move further along in their relationship with one another. I love all the tender moments between the chaos. Oh, and yes... Gus, who comes with Ella to the ball within the backstory, is the same man who had been Billy, the car repairman from seasons one and two. The same guy who tragically is killed by King George in order to try to frame Ruby in season two's episode, titled... Child of the Moon. And the actor who plays Billy in the earlier seasons is different than the actor who comes in to play Gus in this episode though. I love that we get to see Dr. Whale once again, as he and Dr. Jekyll are introduced to one another by Snow and Regina, in the hopes that they would agree to become new teachers in their field at the school where Snow plans to return to teaching as well. Such a great idea! Although, it sounds a little scary too. :) In regards to the mental patient who randomly shows up every now and again, always shown to be moping the floors... He is based on Chief Bromden, or the Chief... a character from the classic novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The same classic novel that Nurse Ratched is from. A character that we've seen pop in and out of Once Upon a Time a few times. If you don't remember her, she's the nurse who runs the mental hospital beneath Storybrooke's hospital. And even though this apparent mute mental patient is never shown to talk to anyone ever, it's been said in a few episodes that he loves to talk about all the daily gossip to all of the other patients and prisoners. Said by Zelena once to Regina. And lastly... The Evil Queen and Mr. Hyde have now joined forces after Emma defeats her yet again by saving Askley in spite of her dastardly plans for Emma's very first save from way back in season one. This is so not good for our heroes, but what a team up!! I love it!! And these two work well together! Thank you very much, Travis!!! I can't wait until your next reaction for Once Upon a Time!!! Sincerely, Heidi
