Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse | MOVIE REACTION

Comments

So, yes, there is another one coming out, we just don't know when. These movies are a huge undertaking, but I'm willing to wait for it because it's always worth the wait! Let's talk about the not-so-silent MVP of this movie: Hobie. I love that, from the moment he meets Miles, he's in his corner 100%. He's the one that encourages Miles to use his new move (multiple times) and he's always encouraging him throughout the movie. For a guy with limited screen time, he certainly makes his mark. I liked Gwen in the first movie, but her character is fleshed out like crazy in this movie! Her story with her dad is both heartbreaking and so uplifting! Both dad and daughter feel betrayed by the other and it forces the wedge that was already in between them to become a seemingly insurmountable wall. Then their reunion is so sweet and she realizes that he's no longer the captain so he's most likely going to live. This is the impetus for her to fully support Miles from this point on (she was already in earlier, but now she's really in lol). Also, Hobie coming in clutch again with the watch he dropped off for her. Miguel, oh Miguel. He's a fantastic antagonist in this movie, but, at the same time, I get why he's the way he is. He literally lost everything, so I understand why he has such a one-track mind in regards to the "arachno-humanoid poly multiverse" (boy, that's a mouthful lol), but he has such tunnel vision that he only sees things one way and can't even fathom that there's a possibility that he could be wrong. Let's talk about that plot twist. I was wondering if you would figure out that Miles was in the wrong universe, but you didn't 😉. There are a number of clues to him being in the wrong universe: when the machine fires up to send Miles to his universe, it displays that he's being sent to Earth-42 (the universe the spider that bit him was from) instead of Earth-1610 (Miles' actual universe); when he meets the version of his mother from Earth-42, she has green eyes instead of the brown eyes his actual mother has; the alternate version of his uncle is clearly weary of him as soon as he sees Miles; and the color grading for the 2 universes is different (there's probably more, but I'm not that smart). On my part, the first time I watched this, I noticed the computer said Earth-42 instead of Earth-1610 (I was shocked that people in my theater didn't realize that he was in the wrong universe until the "reveal" lol). I love that the Spider-vengers at the end are a mixture of the Spider-people that helped him (and he helped) in both movies. The Donald Glover (Troy from Community) cameo is always cool, too (he was also in Spider-Man: Homecoming that you watched a good while back, but you didn't know who he was back then and he was only in 2 scenes in that movie lol). I'm glad you enjoyed this movie! Whenever the next one comes out, I will request it
